We took Horn again tonight and had a hell of a hunt. We made 6 trees and seen coons on 5 trees and one we could barley shine but did not see it. Some talk about having trouble now treeing coons but the woods we are hunting now is where we feed the old sows this past spring until they could scrap up things to eat. Went through right at 800 lbs of corn and it looks like it paid off, not much to eat in the hills. We have not had out anything out in over two months. Secondly we do not kill very many coons during kill season, not getting rich like some do!!

Horn -

Hunting Horn tonight and so far we have made three dumps and two trees. One had a coon on a small tree and ran a nice track out of a bean field into a big old den, Horn in there about 750 yards on third dump and so far nothing.

Well Corey is at it again! He said North Central Kentucky Coon Hunters Club in Elizabethtown, Kentucky is having a $100.00 Slam event Sat Night and he is wanting to go. It has been hot but Horn has looked pretty darn good and seems to handle the heat O.k.. I told him there will be a bunch of Holstiens to contend with but then again it would be nice get a piece of the pie! I told him you never know, a little luck and who knows!

Went to the slam last night at E-Town. Drew out with all walcurs, go figure. All hounds got treed and had coons but Horn covered late on one and drew 75 minus. One of the hounds treed about 9 tenths at the end and Corey withdrew. Could not even win if he did not have it saved the walking! Only mistake he made but it was one you don't overcome with good hounds. Had good guide, treed coons and no handler mistakes by Corey! There will always be another night!

Thanks! Jason and Don done a good job with Horn. We were pretty Lucky to get a nice young hound like Horn. Hope to have years of fun with this hound.

Took a short hunt tonight with Horn and Riptide. The old man has not been out for a while and thought he needed to stretch his legs also.We made three trees and seen coons on two of the trees. We also seen four coons setting up in cherry trees along a corn field. Did not think they would be together but did make two trees together.

Riptide on the left and Horn on the right -

We hunted Misfire and Horn last night. First night out for Misfire since having the pups. First dump Misfire and Horn split treed about 450 yards apart and we found Horns Coon and Misfire had a den. Next dump they got in a big corn field and Misfire struck and Horn charmed in, one hell of a race, I told Corey they were looking a it. They slammed it and when we got there it was a bush, not a tree. Before we got the hounds handled it bailed and they treed it again about 75 and this time made it to a tree. Last dump they hit and ran about 525 yards and treed in a junk pile of old scrap metal. We seen (6) coons setting up last night and I would never have thought that will the moon as bright as it was. We were hunting some woods with some pretty rough hunting and during the hunting the one woods Horn lost his collar and Misfire collar was just hanging when we got to her, neither collar was bad but never had that happen before. One thing about the Garmin it took us right to Horn's collar!

Misfire -

Horn -

After the coon treed in the bush and came out the small tree he went up the next time.

Took Horn and Misfire tonight and had a tough time hitting any good ones. Made two trees and seen one coon. Too much ground to cover and wasted a lot of the night! Mother and son in action. Misfire is a little heavy but not bad for just coming off pups.

Just got home from BBOA Zone 5 Championship in Kentucky. They did not have any Grands so we headed home. I think they hunted 18 or 19 total hounds tonight.

We have a friend that lives up by Richmond that is going to be guiding us at Autumn Oaks this year, under 20 miles and cast from fairgrounds. His family owns land and suppose to have a few sick ones. Makes for a better hunt not having to drive for hours. I will owe him a big one for this! Hope for a good hunt and get in on a few sick ones! Sept. is a busy month and every little bit helps!!

Took Horn last night and was not too bad of a night. We made (4) dumps and made two trees with coons, one tree had four coons and one tree had three. The one tree was another ceder tree along a corn field and Anderson River. Other two drops we headed Horn off and loaded him up for new territory! Coons have the corn stompped down and I mean real bad along the river.

Took Horn tonight and made three dumps and made two trees with coons. Both tracks were not the best but did have a good out come. One was a cherry and the other did not pay much attention. One tree took about 40 minutes to get too him and it never seem to bother him, help build the wind up on him. Thank god for the UTV tonight!!

Misfire and Horn split treed once tonight, found Misfires coon and did not find Horns but it was a big oak tree, second dump they hit red hot and ran one about 650 yards in a corn field and treed in a field tile. Third dump they hit in a corn field and ran about two hundred hard and slammed one, had him! Last dump country road to county road and nothing but it did smell like Horn caught one! LOL!

Hunted last night and it was bright and very pleasant for this time of the year. Coming in this morning it showed 56 degrees. It did not help with coons moving. Dumped Horn and Riptide separate and never got a bark. Next drop we Dropped Horn in one woods and Riptide in another woods. Riptide covered the woods and never made a bark. Horn never made a track bark but did roll in there and treed one in a big maple tree along and corn field but never ran any track. Would have thought everything would have been moving but that was not the case!

Took Horn and made three dumps, ran two tracks treed two coons one in a bush. The coon in the bush bailed and hit a hole along the ditch. Bush was not but about 8 feet at the test. The first coon was hit about 250 yards and ended up about .62 and rand through a corn field and a bean field, did a hell of a job! Trying to have him ready for AO!

Thanks Roy! I feel Horn will give his all, right or wrong! Horn likes to please and normally does so. Like any other hound, he has his night but they are far and in between. Heading out 4:30 so most the driving will not be to warm on the hounds. Will give you a call after the hunt, good or bad!!
