Loeffelholz Ace in the Hole!
Last year UKC updated their Master of Hounds Application/Test. It's a 30-question test and it's no secret, we did make it bit harder than the previous ones had been. However, there are no trick questions or nothing that can't be found in the rulebook.
Before we officially released the test we had our UKC Field Reps take the test and offer their feedback. Too hard? Not hard enough? Too easy? For the record; they all passed it quite easily. They also all agreed that it was a solid test and should be a good evaluation of knowledge for those applicants so inclined.
We do in fact receive a good amount of failed applications. Of course, a good number of them do also pass. Very rarely do we get an applicant that aces the test. Less than a couple a year. When we do get one, it gets my attention every time and makes me feel good about that individual, First, for being interested in serving the sport. Secondly, that hunters can be assured they have a solid grasp on the rules as they relate to nite hunts.
We just had one such aced test come across my desk for approval from Kolton Loeffeholz of Platteville, Wisconsin. He was recommended by the officers of the Southwest Wisconsin Coonhunters Club in Platteville. We appreciate his interest and thank him for serving the sport in this manner. He should make a dandy MOH.
If you know or see Kolton, give him two thumbs up!
