Are you all rested up Behne? Reloaded the kennel? Awfully quiet.

Home again

Just in time for blizzard to move in!!! Should have stayed south for couple more weeks. Had 2 good hunts Tues./Wed. nights with Chance Irving around Tulsa. Got to see why Bo Diddly was the winner of their RQE Sat. night. 2 eyes looking down every time he got treed.

Hunted with Aaron Gamble & friend Ryan, along with Larry Carlin on Thurs./Fri. nights & had some very good hunts. I didn't realize it was so flat in their area between Joplin/Springfield MO. Good coon population also. Thanks Aaron for the hospitality.

Last stop on way home was a hunt with Ryan Smith @ St. Clair, MO. Got to hear ole Blue (GrNtCh Blue Chick Beauty) tree a coon again before, hopefully having a litter of pups out of Woodrow. Hills around his area make Downings' hunting area look flat!!!

No new additions as of now, Ricochet, but the Grand kids are ready to hit hunts/shows now that i'm back. Take care, Ron.

new addition

You must have talked to Jon about me picking up Marley. Guess you could call her 'new', but I've owned her since last summer. While I had ole Blue up here last summer, Ryan hunted her in Missouri because he had nothing else to hunt. Then last fall Steve Kitchen hunted her through the season because he had nothing young to really hunt. I never heard her bark till 2 weeks ago, but she has looked decent since then. will have her around @ some hunts/shows this summer. She is out of Bo Diddly & Bad motor Scooter/Geronimo female. Won't be 2 till April, so she is still needing some work. She tied for CW last Thurs. with 350+ in hr. cast, but lost on coin flip. Last time I'll do that again!!!

Or are you referring to Girl that i bought last Oct.? She is coming 2 in April & got another CW tonight in Baldwin. Sure is hard to stay ahead of you with any new projects!! We'll be around all summer for you to see them now that hunts/shows are starting up again. Got to keep these grand kids busy with new dogs somehow. Take care, Ron.

hunt

Beautiful night out & Augie wanted to go to 'big park' to see how the dogs could do.

Took Girl. Freak & Cub had Gritt. Started about 8:30 before moon came up & was done @ 10:30. Girl got treed N of us in brush pile with Gritt joining her. Freak had went 800 yds. S of us on a track. Girl was cut lose @ went another 400 yds. further N to tree a coon, while Cub & I walked to Freak that had a coon.

We cut Freak & Gritt lose, while Augie was coming our way & got another 2 more tracks started, while Girl was headed in our chunk of big woods. Gritt got treed, while Girl & Freak was running other track, but missed. After pulling him off, Girl & Freak blew up on a coon. Pulled them off & recut in same section of big hardwood timber. All struck with Girl blowing up on big den with Gritt with her. Freak kept taking her track to S, so we cut other 2 again.

Both struck again on different tracks & Girl blew up treed 200 yds. S of us with a coon & Freak getting treed 250 yds. further S on big den. Mean while Gritt got treed 300 yds. E of them with a coon.

Time to head for truck. Augie had nice big rack to carry out, Cub had lost his can of chew & this old man was ready to put his buns on a truck seat & go get some sodas. Can only hope things go like this for our 1st UKC hunt of year @ Anamosa this Sat. night!! Take care, Ron.

New litter

In case many of you haven't read on FB, Ryan Smith & I bred Dual GR Blue Chick Beauty to Danny Perezs' nice Dual GR Woodrow in Jan. with pups due in the next week. She is double bred thru Uchtmans Albert. Pedigree is listed on earlier page on here. Will be SS & PP. Check out Ryans' FB page to see pics & video of her treed. Both are good looking, loud mouthed COONDOGS. Located just west of St. Louis. Take care, Ron.

Also, congrats to CUB on putting win on Grit, 225+. Mark Bouska with Tilly & Jason Schulte with Botox. Take care, Ron.

Couple more hunts

Went to Arthur $KC hunt Monday night. Madi/Anne drew Brian/Bouskas' Maggie & lost 375+-325+ on 2 coon. Freak has been on 3 legs, since last Sat. night.

Tues. night we dropped Queey, Marley & Grit for little pleasure hunt. They ran a nice track 500 yds. to tree in big den.

The we dropped 2 young blue dogs in nice woods & 474 yds later, they rolled up treed with one on outside. Petted them up & came home.

Hope to make $kc hunt in Minn. Friday night if it don't get cancelled or too much snow!! Take care, Ron.

social distancing!!!

Since most all hunts are canceling, me & grand kids have been pleasure hunting all week. Making lots of den trees & bluff dens with the sows getting ready or having their kits.

Anne, Freak, Queenie & Marley have all been to woods this week & looking good on finishing what they start & getting treed in style.

Augie has been putting Girl in woods, by herself & treeing coon on outside most every night. Treed 4 singles Tues. night. 3 singles & brush pile Wed. night, then 1 single Thurs. night as he had to get up early for work.

We put Girl & Marley in big park woods last night & treed 2 singles on outside, plus big den tree in Wapsi bottom in standing water. Made it back to truck & headed for sodas just as it started to lightning.

Hope everyone is staying safe & can have some enjoyable pleasure hunts till this health issue passes & we can get back to some competition hunts again. Take care, Ron.

hunt

Should have been there, but Augie backed out the last minute hunting Girl & rain headed that way, plus hunting 5 nights in row had me out of the mood.

REALLY wish I had drove up for late round as it was beautiful out after rain passed by. Take care, Ron.

hunt

Buddy Robert Young came down with his Rooster dog last night since John Deere was shut down for a few days. We hunted Lil & Freak.

!st drop they struck a good track & the race was on. Rooster thought 1 had went up, but made a mistake & the blues made a 600+ yard circle out in big field & was 'haulin the mail' as it came back to timber. If i didn't trust them so much you would have sworn they was running junk. They blew up treed in a big cottonwood with the coon, when they hit the trees again.

Next drop was slow at start, but finally got track going @ 450 yds. Took it down one valley to 900 yrds, then back into our valley to get treed on big oak with a double.

Back at it tonight with Girl & something else. Take care, Ron.

hunts

Tues. night, we hunted Girl & Queenie. Everything wanted to head home in moonlight. Made 2 den trees, a bluff den & 1 slick.

Wed. night Grit & Marley ran a nice track 500 yds. to a den tree. Next drop put one in a bluff den.

Wed./Thurs. nights, Augie hunted Girl alone & treed a single each night, but had to get up early both mornings for work, so only had time for one coon on those nights. Take care, Ron.

tough out

With this bright moon the last week. Been making lots of den trees & bluffs. Did tree 2 on outside Sat. night plus a den tree. Tues. night Freak put one in den, then treed one on outside.

Augie had good night hunting with Dave Morehead & Gem Tues. night. Girl treed 4 singles on outside, while Gem treed 2 by herself. Things will pick up again with this moon going away again. Take care, Ron.

getting better

Treed 1 circle Friday night, but then couldn't find a good track for Marley to run after that, so called her in & called it a night.

Augie took Girl Sat. night & treed one after the rain quit. Tonight, she made short work of treeing 2 on outside at 100yds. & 600yds. & sounded great doing it. Called it a night after that, so Augie could get some sleep before going to work.

Ryan says we only have 1 female left to sell from Woodrow & ole Blue, so give us a call, if you might be interested. Take care, Ron.

Nice hunts

Took Girl & Queenie Tues. night, they took track 600 tds. to bluff den. We caught Queenie there, but Girl left to find another. After she looped out 700 yds to south, she started taking another track towards hwy. on east end of draw. We drove down on it just in case coon had crossed, but 50 yds before she got to us, she loaded up on big oak & had him.

Last night, Hunter & I made a couple solo drops. Marley went first & after a little adjustment for barking at a grinner she ran into, she picked up a nice running track for about 550 yds & got treed with one on outside.
Picked Queenie up & cut her in good little draw. She hit track by spring & buzzed about 150 yds to tree it on outside. We decided to call it a night before things took a turn for the worse.

Augie took Girl for 2 drops & treed 2 on outside. Short track to tree at 74 yds, then 420 yds. for 2nd one. Back at it tonight, Cub already called. Take care, Ron.

bummer

Was hoping it was on, since BBOA moved their dates, but reading about governor closing things down for another month figured it would get moved.

Nice hunt last night as Freak & Marley took track out of timber 1000 yds. to tree one on outside. Was able to drive a lot closer, so only had to walk about 200 yds. We did hear kits chattering close by in a den while they was running their track.

Next drop was Marley solo as Freak had blood dripping from ear from a fence wound. She hit track right inside gate & smoked it 240 yds. to tree it on outside. Cub hit squaller & had to stop before it jumped, so figure kits were around there somewhere. Snow just started falling when i fed the dogs & deer & coon was running everywhere on way home. Take care, Ron.

doing fine

Took hunt Sat. night in flat big timber. Tracks didn't seem to be the greatest, but Freak treed one on outside & put one in hole. Cubs' Gritt dog treed one on outside. Decided to quit after that as we got late start anyway.

Augie & i took Girl & Freak to Arthur, Wisc. & won both casts that were there. I had (200) & 2 walkers treed slick. Girl treed a coon by herself 200+, then made a junk pile with no minus. Hope to make Slam hunt this weekend. Take care, Ron.

Kevin

We're trying, but it's hard!! Madi & Hunter are doing some pleasure hunting, but our hunts are shut down till this thing passes, then they can get ready for youth & regular hunts. Take care over your way & stay safe. Take care, Ron.
