Old Breeder in MS

Years ago there was an ad in the Coonhound Blood lines about a man From MS or Ark, that Raised Redbones and Hunted them in the MS Delta does any one remember his name , I am sure he has passed away but I was wondering about him and if any one remembers him ? there were pictures of him with his hounds and a July crossed Hound as well .

The only one that comes to mind is Jack Brown.

I wonder if that Ulmer Lumpkin was related to Paul Lumpkin who owned Lumpkin's Timber Chopper Jr.. Heck that may be him in that picture as a kid. Those dogs listed there go way way back. Pun Jab the Great must be in the 1940s or 50s.

What about Mr Joe Pipken? There sure used to be a lot of Redbone men in Mississippi. Now there are only 3 members of the NRCA from Mississippi. I wonder what happened?

Old Breeder

They wrote an article about Mr. Brooks back in the Eighty's I think and put it in the Coon hound Blood lines Mag. they showed a picture of him Holding a Red bone and a July hound on a leash , I wonder if that July would tree a coon ?

Pretty sure the picture you are referring to is in the June 1986 Coonhound Bloodlines. The picture is actually of F.J. Sorn of Akron, Ohio. He was holding Youngtown Danger a Redbone and a July hound named Nig. The article was about Brooks Magill. The article showed a 3 generation pedigree for Dangers Kate whom Brooks Magill owned so I guess that is the reason for the picture in the article. Dangers Kate's sire was Youngtown Danger.

Dangers Kate was out of Magills Cinders

This was my father’s uncle. He was from Wynne, Arkansas.
I was shocked to see this result pop up in a search on google.

Dalton advertised his dogs in the back of old magazines During the 30s and 40s...and that was the point of my searching. I’m trying to find one of his old ads. Dad says that ‘Hunter, Trader, Trapper’ was one of the magazines.
If anyone can help me find an issue, id be forever grateful.
He sold Black and Tans during the 30s-40s....then started with Red Bones after that.

Thanks
Mark Foltz
