Question for UKC

How about letting people single register a dog at the hunts? Here in the south there are a lot of grade dogs that people would register if they could do it at a hunt. They don’t think much about it until they want to take it to a hunt. Especially if they could do it at a youth hunt.

An option would be to single register those dogs online before the event, via the link above. Then they could enter as their dogs as Conditional until while their Registration Certificates.

Paperwork

If your paperwork is in order it only takes two weeks to X-Bred register a dog. I see people complain on a regular basis about problems with UKC on registration. I have never seen it take over two weeks.

In a town close by, they put on a large hog/ coon/squirrel hunt. Winners are chosen by the largest or the most. It’s fine for the hog hunters and even the squirrel hunters. But as for coon I would like to save my coon for training dogs. Especially since we have very few hardwoods available anymore. They have several coon hunters that are just pleasure hunters that will bring a youth to see the events. This would be a perfect way to get the youth involved in a true competition hunt. But the problem is that the adults could care less. But if the youth sees the trophies and ask the parents if he could enter his dog, what parent would say no.
As far as I know, the other registries let people enter their dog as X bred or cross breed or what ever breed that the dog is as long as it’s registered in another registery. Please reconsider this idea. With the falling numbers in the local hunts, I think this would help a little. Thanks
