Dog pen size

What size pen does everyone prefer for their hounds?

I’ve used 5’x10’ and thought it might be a bit small
And a 10’x10’ and it might be a little big.

Just thought I would see what others thought.

Our regular pens are 10x10. Pup pen and female pen are much bigger but I keep pups together.

To me it depends on the dog. I currently have all 10x10’s for older dogs but have used 5x10’s before too. I have about a 3/4 acre puppy pen/dog yard too that I am working on too. A young dog in a small pen is no good if you aren’t hunting much. They need to get some exercise.

The kennels I have had since 1980 are 6’ X6’ X 12’. Chain link.

They’ve served me well! Kept coon hounds in them for years (1) dog per run. I have all hunting beagles now and keep (2) dogs to a run comfortably when needed.

I have 3 adjacent pens. They're 70 ft X 20 ft with connecting gates which I leave open unless I want to separate a dog for some reason.

I have 10x10 welded wire ones. Glad i bought them when i did as today they are silly expensive. Its been my experience that my favorite kind of dog spends 95% of its time in the actual dog house. I have mine inside a concrete floor building with a radio on to avoid and visual and hearing barking stimulators.

If you drove here you wouldnt even know i own a dog and thats how i like it.

My dog pen is 60 ft by 90 ft. with a shed and individual boxes. 6 foot high fence, 2in wire. Dogs like it.

Billy

I have 3 pens. 25 x 60 25 x 100 and 60 x 60. All have natural shade and all dog houses are inside a structure. I keep 2 coonhounds in each pen. These work for me. My limiting factor on pen size is fencing and my want to put it up. How much space do you have? What type of pen are you wanting? How often are you getting your dog(s) in the woods for exercise. Now my opinion the bigger the better.
