I've hunted with Melvin once when Nick was hunting him. He was deep with a coon and looked good doing it. Nice tree dog also.

Bryan, we've starting to do a little work on that Clayton & Ton pup of Johnnys. He is going to be a treedog!

Rambler is owned by Kirk Swanson of Red Oak, IA. You would have to contact him about breeding to Rambler.

Rambler dogs are BORN independent. You don't train them to be . When they go on that tree they are deaf. They are TRACK dogs. They have a mouth you don't have to strain to hear.

Robert, I don't have anything out of Rambler but have heard a lot of good things about him. I've only hunted with one out of Rambler and that was Melvin. I liked him. I'm not sure who he is out of on the bottom side.

Thank you guys for hunting and promoting dogs out of the Rambler line. He was ten in May. I've been taking my son and some neighbor kids hunting with him this fall. He can still tree a coon Rambler style. In fact the other nite he treed a twenty nine pound boar between an oxbow and the river. Definitely not an easy place to tree a coon. I had to laugh, Levi is fifteen and traps some. He said that it's a lot easier to tree coon than trap them. I told him the first time I went coon hunting I was a little younger than him, we stared at dark and treed our first coon about two a.m. I apologize for not being more active in promoting this line of dogs. Rambler has had some health and fertility issues. He seems to be in good health now,and does have live semen. But we bred three nice females last spring and got only one pup. I really believe someone with a really nice treeing female out of Rambler should bred to a go hunting track dog. Then if there is an elite male breed him back to Rambler daughters and granddaughters. The reason for this is line breeding though the bottom side of the pedigree propagates the the X chromosome, which is said to be one thousand times larger than the Y. An example would be Nailor( Yadkin Tar Rattler X Lock Down Lassie, a Lipper bitch). I believe some of his best crosses were when he was bred back to Lipper bred females. Some of this might have been in part to the drive in the Lipper line to compliment the Tar Rattlers. But I've seen this breeding scheme used to produce some of the most elite individuals in many species. Give it some thought. Thanks again

i breed a female that i called carrie that was out of harry to rambler. that cross produced the melvin dog. i keep two females that were both killed by automobiles.

the best walker female that i ever hunted with was owned by greg minkler out of rambler. he called her squick. she feel out of a tree and was killed.

I bred my Neosho River female to Wild Bill's Boone. I kept one female pup back and have been real happy. Independent, wonderful locate and chop on the tree. I mostly just pleasure hunt (year around) and couldn't be happier with my pup. Working with Bill was great. He is a real class act.

Just wanted to let you know how a 3 year old off of Rambler and Three-Quarter Ton is doing down in TN. I bought him from Ken Schott this past summer and sold half of him to Kyle Ballhagen in TN. He has had him in 5 PKC hunts since he has had him down there and has won 3 of them. He has $323.75 won for the year and $220 won for the month of December so far. Only been in two hunts this month. We are going to take him to a couple added hunts this weekend. Will keep you updated on his progress.

Things that stand out about this dog to me:
LOUD LOUD
Can drive a track
Has the coon when you get there
Mostly by himself
Built right
