3 Bear Dogs
1) .75 Plott (Hicks) .25 Walker Male
4-5 years old
Medium Nose, Medium Speed, Bays and trees well. You can road him or walk hunt him handles well. If he can smell it he will take it.
Cons, he doesn’t perform the best around a lot of new/strange dogs. Also one of his front legs was broken by a bear when he was 1. When the vet pinned it wasn’t straight so on long races he doesn’t seem to have the endurance other dogs have.
2) UKC Reg Redbone Female (Pigeon River X TTop Bred)
4 years old
Very solid dog, runs, bays, trees great. Would say she has a hotter nose but has found bears by herself and stuck them. Medium speed. Gritty but not suicidal. Great mother was just in heat in the middle of September. Will stick a bear in extremely thick ground by herself. Handles great.
Cons, doesn’t have much of a mouth.
3) UKC Reg Walker Female
5-6 years old
Used mainly as a pack dog. Hard tree dog and is gritty.
Cons, better to pack her in by sending her behind on the actual bear track where it crosses a road.
Located in SE VA
All of these dogs have been on several kills and many this year. They have been hunting on the Coast of NC, the mountains of VA, and in Maine. I will give a trial with cash on hand. I will continue to hunt them as long as I have them.
Located in South East VA.
