Well The Little "Panda" Critters are Growing !! 1 Week old today

As far as "What Type of Hunting Hound" Were looking for a Hound with all the nose we can pack in !! Then were looking for the Traites of Treeing and Drive from the Walker and English lines.
The French hounds have Great Drive with LOTS of Stick to the Track and Catching Game.
The Blue lines give us alot of lantent French Blood along with the Treeing and Tracking Traits.

The Grand Parents, Aunts, Uncles to This Litter

I Best Plug Gavins Ad Since their His Hounds !!!

Thru the late 1800s thru the early 1900s Quite a few French Lines were imported thru New Orleans, La. These hounds lead to the Southern Blueticks and Redticks that then headed to Texas and west to the Dry Grounds for Lion and Bear Control .

Then in the Mid 30s they were added again by Bill Green which inturn were some of the Bluetick and Englich Foundation Hounds ..

These are some of Bill's First Crosses

As in this Story .. Bill kept just what he was added a secret somewhat !! And was Hinting that it was coming from other sources

Well the Little Critters are 2 weeks old today... They get their first Worming !! The Dam was wormed from her 40th day of preg. till 3 days after welping .. 7cc of Safeguard daily as Reconmended .. This is a new worming program for us cuz we have had a battle with round worms this year in pups.

This is another Video of Bill Greens Hounds .. This is from a Color 8 Prior to World War II .. Bill Enlisted into the War Effort and Traveled for the Army to Buy Dogs for Military Action.. Color Film was avb. from 1938 to 1943 when they went back to black and white cuz the Lack of Chem. required for Color Film .. 1 year after the war Color Film was avb. again.
When Bill went into the Army he ask some fokes to take care of his hound for him "Well this Deal went south when Bill got out after the war" These Guys Wanted a very Large sum of Money for Keeping his Hounds... Bill just said keep them..

After the War He no longer had many of the Hounds shown in this Clip ..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdcGYq-hiMk

If you would like to See the Whole History of Bill Green their is 22 page of info on the Man at this link .. It was pieced together From Info Provided by Many !! But Most of All His Grand Son John Green "Big Game Houndsmen Walking in his Grandfathers Shoes" Plus John has All the Bill Green Videos on DVD and Seasons of His Bear and Lion Hunts too...

FCI-Standard N° 21/ 03. 10. 1996 / GB

GREAT GASCON SAINTONGEOIS
(Grand Gascon Saintongeois)

TRANSLATION : Mrs. Peggy Davis.

ORIGIN : France.

DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THE ORIGINAL VALID STANDARD : 24.01.1996.

CLASSIFICATION F.C.I. : Group 6 Scenthounds.
Section 1.1 Large-sized Hounds.
With working trial.

BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY : In the middle of the 19th century, the Count Joseph de Carayon-Latour wanting to regenerate the declining breed of the Hound of Saintonge, crossed the last descendants with the Bleu de Gascogne of the Baron de Ruble, thus creating the Gascon Saintongeois, but causing the disappearance of the Hound of Saintonge.

GENERAL APPEARANCE : Very well constructed dog, giving at once an impression of strength and elegance. Very French in type when it comes to the head, the coat and the expression.

BEHAVIOUR/TEMPERAMENT :

Skull : Seen from the front, domed and rather narrow; the occipital protuberance is well marked; seen from above, the back of the skull is of pronounced ogival shape.
Stop : Only slightly accentuated.

FACIAL REGION :
Nose : Black; well developed; nostrils well opened.
Muzzle : Of equal length to that of the skull; strong nasal bridge, slightly arched.
Lips : Just covering the lower jaw; corner of the lips discreet.
Jaws/Teeth : Scissor bite. Incisors well set square to the jaws.
Cheeks : Lean.

Leathers : They are fine, well curled in and should, at least, reach the end of the nose; set on below the eye level and attached rather backwards, leaving the skull free.

NECK : Of medium length and thickness. Slightly arched; very slight dewlap.

LIMBS

FOREQUARTERS :
View of the ensemble : Powerful.
Shoulder : Quite long, muscular; moderately oblique.
Elbow : Close to body.
Forearm : Strong bone structure.

HINDQUARTERS :
View of the ensemble : Well proportioned.
Upper thigh : Long and well muscled.

FEET : Slightly elongated oval, toes lean and tight. Pads and nails black.

GAIT / MOVEMENT : Regular and easy.

SKIN : Supple and not too thick. White with black patches. Mucous membranes (hairless zones) black.

COAT

HAIR : Short and dense.

COLOUR : The basic colour is white marked with black patches, sometimes speckled. Two black patches are generally placed at either side of the head, covering the leathers, surrounding the eyes and stopping at the cheeks. The cheeks are tan in colour, preferably pale. Two characteristic tan markings placed above the superciliary arches give a «quatroeillé» appearance. We also find traces of tan on the inner face of the leathers and in speckles along the legs. Some fawn hairs may appear on the upper part of the leather without however giving the head a tricolour appearance. Sometimes there is at the base of the upper thigh a typical dead-leaf brown marking called «roe buck mark» (colour roe buck).

SIZE :
Height at the withers : Males : 65 to 72 cm.
Females : 62 to 68 cm.
