Water race peeps look here

Was at a water race at black and tan days, and someone with redbones had ear coverings over his dogs head for ear protection...where did you get them??

Thanks!

I was not there but would like to know the same thing. I have heard about those "things" you put on their head to keep water out of their ears but do not know what to use. Saw someone put a sock around their dogs head at one but it did not stay on. Hard for a dog to swim when they are shaking their head cause of the water. LOL!! Hope someone responds with the answer.

Someone suggested panty hose. I can't get an idea in my head about how they would work though. Would have to see it in person.

What Fido downs said.
We've used swim socks for years to prevent the head shake. Most these days are made out of swim suit material which gives you a lot of lee way as to size. Don't make them to short or they come off easy and try to size them for a snug fit. Pull them on and as you get to the ears smooth the ears down over the openings as you pull the sock on. They're not waterproof so maybe a stretch nylon or panty hose might work. They can be made out of other materials that don't stretch as much but then the sizing becomes more critical.
If you get something figured out remember how you did it as I seem to be constantly tearing and losing mine.

Jerry Baker and his wife in Michigan make them. 313-533-2274

i use one on my plott he shakes his heady non stop with out it. you can use spandex or any stretchy type of dance costume materia. if you know some one who can sow it would take them a few minutes to make one. on my new one i have the front a little smaller then the back so it dont slide back and off when they jump in.

I know this thread is about those head socks, but, I just had to say that Cole Camp has one super nice swim pond !! We loved the set up there. The hounds just flat out had to want to mess up to get dq'd. Super nice clean place.

I sure would like to get a schedule of thier water races for the rest of the year. It's a good haul over there, but well worth it.

I had not even looked at these pics much until now...Here are a few from there last year. These pretty much show the set up.
