Anyone ever LineX an aluminum dog box

Or a tool box, if so, what kind of results and how did it hold up?

Here is an LineX toolbox.

it would make the box less prone to getting scratched but it would make it a lot hotter inside and a lot heavier

I did it to the top of a dog box once. I use to rig hunt alot and it put a nice suface that the dogs could stand on. In the winter the ice and snow would make the top of the box slippery, but with the line-X stuff on top it made is so the dogs had good traction. Also the snow and ice would melt better with the black top and the sun reflecting on it during the day.

I hunted with a guy who worked in a body shop that did the spray in bedliners in different colors to match your truck and he covered the top of his rig platform with it in white to match his truck. He only did the top. It made a very nice durable rig surface.

I saw a truck once where the whole body was sprayed. Looked pretty cool. Probably cut down on scratches driving through brush.

Line-X

I know a guy who paints for a living and he sprayed his whole late 90's model Ford truck(also the metal in the cab) along with his tool box. It still looks good and he did it about 5 years ago. Only problem is the pressure washers at the carwash wont wash it off. You have to have a pressure washer approx 3200 psi or more to wash it so the stained mud will come off of it.
Also he did that with the cheap Herculiner from Wal-Mart. Line-X or Rhino might work better.

That looks pretty good. Keep us updated on how it does with the heat. I'd like to do mine like that.

Looks good Buckshot! I had actually thought about doing this but had never looked into it.

Is there any adavantage of Line X over a rhino liner?

I am looking at getting a sprayed in bed liner soon.

Thanks!

LineX seems to have a finer tighter spay finish. I have Rhino and it's tough, but not as pretty. From my own comparison I would say LineX holds its shiny appearance better.

I plan to try and use 3 of the same thermometers to conduct the heat test in the box.....1 for each box and 1 to see the outside temp.

I have had afew people contact me about it.

I know you can on LineX

And LINE-X protects more than just trucks. LINE-X’s multipurpose spray-on
coatings provide superior protection for virtually any surface, including
metal, fiberglass and wood. As such, LINE-X products are utilized in
countless commercial, industrial, agricultural, military and custom
applications.

I chose LineX as I have seen bad Rhino bedliners and never seen a bad LineX bedliner.

How much weight do you think it added? I might have to have that done to my box soon.

I really can't tell any difference in weight, which I have heard that LineX adds extra weight. The box is secured to the trailer, so it's rarely moved.

I recently had Extreme Dog Boxes cut some panels to attach to the side mesh of the trailer so I could add graphics.

Now the box is LineX,I have a few things left I want to do my set-up. I have 15" tires on it on it but want to put some that hold up in mud better and then I want to make a section of the tailgate have a smaller tailgate within itself as to open up and let the bassets out without having to let down the bigger tailgate.

I would eventually like to have the whole trailer LineX as well down the road.

It's a work in progress.

I had this trailer, but I was afraid it wasn't gonna hold up in the field, plus storage was on bottom and dogs were on top so it was a pain loading the dogs, so I sold it and went with my current version.

any one know a "round-a-bout" price to do a short bed full size pickup? I like the looks of the lineX better than the rhino

I called today, it was $420 inside the rails, add $50 to go over.

$399 over the rail right now for a rhino liner.

Go with LineX

i have had both rhino and linex... and i would not use rhino again. linex is a way better product. the rhino liner is actually kinda soft and rubbery. i use it in a work truck and loading and unloading stuff scuffed and tore the rhino. but i have never torn up the linex. i think they both have a life time warranty, but who wants to go get it fixed all the time .

I agree with hitman1881.

The Rhino liner wants to tear up, especially after its a couple years old. I would choose LineX also. Just my opinion.

People have been wanting to know the answer to this, so here goes:

I bought three idential thermometers - 1 for linex box, 1 for normal box, and 1 for outside temp.

Atter 3 days of checking at different times during the day, there is no difference in the linex box inside temps compared to the inside temps of the normal box.

On Tuesday, 1 reading was 2 degrees cooler in the linex box over the normal box -- that was the only incident of any difference over the 3 days of testing.
