This weekend we hunted 107 hounds, showed 99 hounds, had a kids bench show, conducted a state meeting and re-invested $500 into our Statewide NC Sporting Dog Assn membership as well as $800 into the fight against the new state level anti-breeder/puppy mill bill.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all who came and supported the event.

Joe and Henri McClees from NC Sporting Dog Assn. spoke and they prepared us for the anticipated battles of 2013; the breeder legislation/puppy mill bill that has already been submitted and the fox pen ban that the animal rights advocates are pushing for. We stand with the NC Sporting Dog Assn on these issues and in addition to our membership to the NC Sporting Dog Assn we will be sponsoring a billboard to advocate against the breeder bill/puppy mill bill.

The meeting was uneventful for the most part, motion was made and seconded to keep the hunt in Salisbury for a third year in 2014. Once we have had 3 years we will evaluate. It was stated that this location gives us the best chance for growth and it seemed the clubs in attendance agreed.

We still encourage clubs to join the NC State Coonhunters Assn in 2013, your membership helps us make a stand for all dog hunting in NC and will enable us to continue sponsoring a great youth hunt championship.
