Re: Re: Re: My Take

Roger, use a measuring cup for the feed and try it before a normal hunt around your house and see if you notice any difference, and let us know. Make sure the eggs are cooked and just the whites. I am just talking four or five egg whites and just before the big hunt just three egg whites and no other type of food cut the water back too, just on the last day, give him a good drink three hours before and take the water away and keep him cool and relaxed. Eggs have protein like no other food almost everything is used.(87%) and when they have no other food in there system they are full of energy.

I mean nothing, and we tried eggs. It was just one of those crazy things but she sure worried us. And she never ran out of gas.

I have seen what you are talking about at night but not during the day. Cat will jump if the hounds can see them or not. Yes, it's true they will smoke the dogs you have seen.

If a cat catches his breath and jumps .. he will grab a gear no hound has and smoke them ... it's not fun for hunter or dog to have one bail like that .

Coming on so strong they dare not leave the tree ... haha .. that's a little bit of salesmanship right there .... it's kinda funny , kinda silly ... but for sure not relative to cat hunting.

An Airedale can outsprint any hound there ever was ... you are doing good , but if you start saying your hounds are superhuman and blowing things out of proportion .. you are just gonna ruin any good that you have done.

A bobcat that gets a headstart and drops the hammer in a straight line to find new ground cannot be caught by any hounds .. fast game is called fast game for a reason .. because they are faster than hounds , the only way fast game is caught or treed is by a pack of hounds that wear them down .

No biggame bred , houndy built Bluetick can defy that principle.

I like an Airedale, I knew a man that had one that was tough, a good family dog and smart. An Airedale will not make a bobcat dog here down in Texas for bobcats, it's too hot. Although I would like to see them hunt.
I said this before, I am not saying my hounds are better than anyone else. Cats will jump a tree mostly when people walk up, not the hounds below. Nobody knows why a cat will jump, stay or hole up.

They get winded , but not any hotter than a hound ... I kept mine clipped and they did good in the heat ... had one stay treed on a bobcat from one morning til' the next .

Iv'e seen cats bail in the moonlight from huge cottonwoods when we weren't close or making noise ... they will leap and spread all fours to catch air like a squirrel .

But , what Joe's buddy says is right about dogs that mill the tree or tree by sight keeping them up a tree better than coonhound style ... once they catch their breath and think they can get out over the hounds they are gonna try it most of the time.

Your right, I do not know enough about those dogs, other than my friends was smart as hell and tough. I said what Joe's buddy was saying was true as my family had those type of hounds for years. The bobcats jump like flying squirrels like that here too and lions will do that also, but as the hounds learn and get smarter they work it out. Mine will keep there eye on them and do not tree just to tree about 50% are sit down tree dogs.
You seem like a nice guy, I took offense when you call me a salesman since I do not sell hounds and what I what I said is true.

This is just a pup after the cat jumped twice. The cat is not going anywhere now, tired and want's no more of it.
The young hound eyes are lock on and the cat is not getting away. That's with one young hound, with a pack, it has two choices, stay right there and I am free to run another day or jump to his last day.

This is a pup after fighting mean grizzly for three hours on the ground and making him climb .. the look of victory in his eyes .. and this is just one pup .. with a pack of these pups .. the bear would have zero! choices .. he'd be a fur coat .

Re: Re: Re: Re: My Take

By no means am I naive about feeding a working dog. Anyone that was ever around Lil would tell you the same thing. Around close it was no problem, but on the road she had her mind set and no matter what, she would not eat. It's like she had an idea in her head and she stuck with it. She's the only dog I have ever seen that was that way. You still haven't PM'd me about where you live. I would love to come down and take in a good cat hunt. Meant nothing bad, or wrong, just want to get aquainted.

Ten or more years ago, I was going hunting on the border of Texas and Mexico. We use stock trailers instead of dog box's because we also take horses. I had two males fight on the way there and back inside the trailor, while hunting or at the tree, there was no problems, with my hounds or two of my friends hounds. I ask Del about it, he told me what to do and I never had another problem. Del Cameron has Cameron hounds and if you understand his breeding method, nobody else does.

lol I would give anything If they would let all plus point cast winners advance! nothing a man can do but win the cast they are in. how are they ever going to know who has the best If they never get to hunt together. 2 years in a row we have won our cast and didn't get to advance. I feel bad for all the cast winners that didn't get to go on, but wish the ones that did best of luck.

You hit the nail on the head Johnny! The leaves will be gone on 9 out of 10 trees as well. I always hear a lot of talk about how a World Hunt should be held with the leaves off. This one is as close as a person is going to get. Should be a great hunt for all the accurate hounds out there to show their stuff.

1 cast win with 150+ and loosin a cast with 100- you cant expect to get in?

Our zone 8 goy threw 6 had double cast wins, consitancy pays off at this level!

you would have had to been on the 1st cast to know what was going on. I didn't whine about It on here, just leave it as got beat should be good enough. and yes if any single cast winner gets in to me they all should jmo. can't help where a man is turned loose.

Im sure more than 1 dog got in crap hunting both nites and never treed a coon im also sure several got in crap spots both nights and won there casts both nites,i no several that won there cast with 500 one nite and got threw.

This goes rite back to the origanal ? Consistancy nite after nite after nite no matter what and I believe thats where walkers have the edge!
im not pickin at you od your dog Eddie you just gave a good example.
