Thank you
Thanks to everyone for the PM's, calls, and post. I really appreciate it. It has been fun training, competion hunting, and just plain ol killing coons to Boone throughout the last couple of years. I know and have been told that dogs like him don't come around very often in a lifetime. Boone will only be 4 years old at the end of February so I hope I have a few more years to hunt and hopefully watch him develop into an even better hound than what he already is. Win or lose it's great to know you have a chance to win every cast you enter with a dog like him no matter what the conditions seem to though at us.
This last weekend was a great trip and I had a great meeting new people and hunting with some great hounds. On Friday of the winter classic was one of the most memorable hunts I have ever had with some of the best coondogs I have ever hunted with as a whole. I had three Walkers in the cast and we had a four way split within the first 15 minutes of the hunt. All the dogs were about 450 yards from each other in all directions and three of the 4 dogs had coons. Boone had 2 in his tree and then other 2 males had coons and the female just come up a little short. So we spent the first hour leashed locked scoring other dogs trees. We then cut again in another spot and had a two way split, Boone took a first tree with 2 of the Walkers and the other Walker split scoring again. We then recut and all dogs went in different directions and Boone got treed again by himself having another coon. Time then was up on the hunt and Boone had won his cast. I would have hauled anyone of those walkers back North to Indiana. We had some great dog work as a whole with some great guys behind them. It was just an awesome hunt.
On Saturday we only scored on two coons and Boone was under one with the other 3 dogs on the first coon and then he got treed by himself with a coon about 1 mile from where we originally turned loose with 8 minutes to go in the hunt.
So far I am very happy with the one litter he has sired. I have had very good luck with my female and the others pups from what I here are coon crazy.
Good luck to everyone in the hunts this year.
