terry-
can you pm me the pedigrees on the Lucky dog that you're hunting and your "redtick" pup? I know you've told me how they are bred but I'd like to see it in writing. They have some old breeding in them right? Mainly Fin Riv stuff?

I dont know the breeding off hand, But Lucky is outa Russ Becks Chopper II dog and a prowler female. Kenneth Johnson owns him, Im just hunting him. The "redtick" is outa some of Russ's other dogs although she does have chopper II in her pedigree. She goes back to some dogs called Scrub Oak, Red Oak. Russ told me he originally started with some Motley bred dogs way back when. I have hunted with at least 6 differant dogs out of 4 or 5 differant females all out of Chopper II and thought they was all coondogs.

i have a mundar dog and the mundar line on the top does not go back to finley river except in the sixth gen way at the end, the finley river in the mundar dog's probably comes from the mothers side like my male does. i have never hunted with the mundar dog but i know people that have and i know sheldon and he could hunt but i don't think he was anything special, i think that the mundar line is a good looking dog that can hunt but just don't drive the track like other breeding in the walker line, but by far some of the best looking hounds out there

Guys I had the pleasure of hunting with a nice young female out of Finley River Jack the other night. I just wanted to say that she was quite a dog. She is under 1 year old, and seemed to have a real cold nose and was a real hard tree dog. I'm not sure what female she was out of but man she sure could go!

pretty good track dog, once he locates a tree he stays, real accurate, bawl mouth on track, bawl chop on tree. average lay up dog, 11 yrs old. made nite champion in 4 hunts and qualified for the world all as a 2 yr old. I didnt see the need in spending the money to make him grand.

I believe he was out of table rock flying hawk and a F.R. Chief female. Flying Hawk was out of Mundo. Im just trying to remember, Im probably wrong but some of these other guys know for sure. I dont follow the Mundo dogs very close.

Dan Houdek, I think thats you in the picture of Horace standing in the background. I think you, Derek, and I were hunting off the Lincoln Hiway below the ranch.

Herb bought Finley River Chief from AL Sanders. AL and Jim Furr were hunting Chief at the time believe it was about 1960ish. The price agreed was 1500.00. Herbs car broke down and needed a transmission on his way to pick up Cheif. AL settled for 1300.00 and gave Herb 2 pups also. AL got Chief from a fellow that was a Mininite (sp). AL said Sonny Boy was there and was a real course haired dog and the root of his tail was twice the size of most dogs.

Thats the story as I heard it.....

btt

I just purchased a dog and have been hunting him very hard with a friend and every night he looks better and better. So when I sent his papers in I got the big ped. to see what was responsible for the accuracy that I haven't had the pleasure of having.I have bought alot of dogs lately and when they hunted during the snow and ice they lost all their accuracy and this dog hasn't missed yet and can move a old feeder track till he warms it up to a hot track with a coon in the tree and a locate my daughter can call. His moms ped. has MEARS FINLEY RIVER DAN 5 times and crossed with different females so not to close of breeding and on the top side his dad has SACKETT JR AND FINLEY RIVER CHIEF with MONROES FINLEY JOE dog. So that gives him 3 out of 4 gen finley river breeding with a splash of Sackett Jr and that probably explains why he is still a heck of a tree dog.I just need to finish him out to grand and then I will breed for myself. He has one night champ win and 1700 in Pkc open hunts a total of 22 wins slips that I have and there could be more.I was just reading this ad and thought it was interesting to learn the history behind this dog. Thanks Jason
