"Famous" means everyone immediately knows who you are referring to. Which means something different for different generations, probably more than breed owners. For instance there's probably some teenagers out there who would have no idea who Johnny Cash was, but there's probably many old timers who couldn't name one band on the top 20 pop chart.
So if you were to ask an old Walker owner, Finley River and or a House dog would certainly come to mind, but younger hunters would say Rat, Sackett Jr., X Jr. etc. But it doesn't matter if they won anything or produced anything, just if they were well known and do people recognize the name.
I think this has more affect than breed, as I would imagine that since Walkers are more prevalent than most other breeds combined, that even the other breed owners would recognize the Walker names.
For this reason I would say Finley River Chief as the most famous names amongst current coon hunters, but will soon fade away as he disappears from the multi-generation pedigrees. But amongst all people, I would agree that the names "Little Ann" and "Old Dan" are probably most well known!
