Ron, you are absolutely right, He is an unwaivering friend to ALL of us and to EVERY creature on this planet, even when we are not too friendly to HIM. He is TOTALLY worthy of our trust and praise.

He's given us life and free choice as to how to spend it. What a DEAL!!!!!!!!!, but we tend to take advantage of it. We can't be thankful enough. He's given me personally over 26,700 sunrises and opportunities. I'd be ashamed of how many I've blown.

CONGRATULATION!!! on 28 years of marriage. My wife and I celebrated our 54th year in August. I totally understand how you feel about your wife of 28 years. My "little girl" gets more beautiful every day and is deserving of better than I've given.

Brad and Ron, thanks for this thread, It's certainly getting my attn.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE PRECIOUS ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH THAN A GODSENT INNOCENT CHILD. CONGRATULATIONS BROTHER ON YOUR NEW HEALTHY SON! MY WIFE AND I LOST A CHILD LAST SUMMER AFTER 5 MONTHS IN HER BELLY. THE ONLY WAY THAT WE MADE IT THROUGH THOSE TOUGH TIMES WAS THE LOVE AND GRACE OF OUR WONDERFUL LORD, JESUS CHRIST AND OUR TWO HEALTHY DAUGHTERS THAT HE HAS BLESSED US WITH. TELL YOUR WIFE THAT IT APPEARS THAT SHE DID A WONDERFUL JOB IN THE LAST NINE MONTHS, HE IS PRECIOUS. GOD BLESS YOUR NEW SON AND YOUR FAMILY.

Guys,

Guess what; we've been given another day to reflect on the amazing events of creation. The sun is not shining, but it's been raining at least a little every day and some good showers have come, ending the longest and most destructive draught in our region.

I hope that we all will realize that the "draught" even though it was very costly to us all in one way or another, is a part of GOD'S
perfect plan.

Yes Ron, every experience IS a gift from God. It's up to us just how we act/react to these experiences. Some of our worst experiences often turn out to be more beneficial to us than those we consider to be our best experiences. God knows just when we need to have an "attention getting" experience and we come out a better person if we just seize the opportunity and thank God for another lesson in our lives. Thanks to God.

THE PRACTICE OF PRAYER

{PSALM 69:32 YOU WHO SEEK GOD,YOUR HEARTS SHALL LIVE.}IN MY WHOLE LIFE I NEVER MET A MORE GODLY PERSON THAN MY GRANDMA,MY MOST LASTING MEMORIES THAT I HAVE OF HER ARE HER COMMITMENT TO HER PRAYER LIFE.EVERY MORNING GRANDMA WOULD BE UP AT 4:30 OR SO ,SHE LIVED WITH US THE LAST 8 YEARS OF HER LIFE.ID LOOK IN ON HER IN THE LIVING ROOM AND SHE WOULD BE READING HER WELL WORN OLD BIBLE AND BE PRAYING ,SHE ALWAYS HAD HER PRAYER TIME EVERY DAY,THAT WAS THE FIRST THING SHE DID BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE.AS I WALKED IN ID ALWAYS ASK GRANDMA ,ARE YA FELLIN ALRIGHT TODAY,SHED SAY,RONNIE,GODS TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS TODAY.THEN SHE WOULD QUOTE{ PSALM 63:1"O GOD ,THOU ART MY GOD:EARLY WILL I SEEK THEE;MY SOUL THIRSTETH FOR THEE"}PRAYER FOR MY GRANDMA WASNT A HURRIED SENTENCE OR TWO AT THE END OF THE DAY,OR JUST PRAYING DURING A CRISIS.PRAYER FOR HER WAS CONSTANT,MOMENT BY MOMENT PRACTICE THAT FILLED HER WHOLE LIFE.PRAYER FOR HER WAS A JOYFUL EXPERIENCE,AN OPPORTUNITY TO COME DAILY INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD.SO SHOULD IT BE FOR US,THERE WAS A TIME OR SO ID BE WALKIN PAST THE LIVING ROOM REAL QUIETLY AND I WOULD OVER HER MY GRANDMA PRAYIN FOR ME,ASKIN GOD TO COME INTO RONNIES LIFE. WELL AFTER ABOUT 23 YEARS AFTER HER PASSING AWAY,GOD DID COME INTO RONNIES LIFE,AND IM SO GLAD MY GRANDMA WAS PRAYIN THAT PRAYER FOR ME ,CAUSE IM GONA SEE MY GRANNY AGAIN SOMEDAY ALONG WITH OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS,AND WERE GONA DANCE WITH ALL THE ANGELS ALL AROUND THE GREAT WHITE THRONE, WONT THAT BE A HAPPY DAY WHEN WE ALL GET HOME,PRAY DAILY NEVER CEASE, TALK TO GOD HE WILL ALWAYS ANSWER YA ,CAUSE HE LOVES YA ,WE LOVE YA YOU ALL HAVE A BLESSED DAY ,YOUR FRIEND IN CHRIST ,RON

A story I came across while surfing the internet:

In the days of Nero, the Emperor of Rome, there was a ban of Elite Soldiers known as the "The Emperor's Wrestlers." These men were the best athletes in the Roman Amphitheater, and the bravest soldiers in all of the Roman army. The wrestled for the Emperor against all who challenged them. Before each contest they would stand before the Emperor's throne and cry out "We the wrestlers, wrestling for thee, O Emperor, to win for thee the victory and from thee the victor's crown."

One year, in mid-winter, there was a rebellion waged in Gaul (France), the Emperor sent for his wrestlers and told them to go to Gaul to end the war that was raging on. This brave group of wrestlers left Rome under the command of Vespasian the Centurion.

While in Gaul rumors spread to Rome that many of the Emperor's Wrestlers had become Christians. When news of this reached Nero, the Emperor, he sent a message to Vespasian, and made this decree; "If there be any among your soldiers who cling to the faith of the Christian, they must die!"

It was in the dead of winter that Vespasian received the message while his soldiers were camped beside a frozen lake in Gaul. Vespasian assembled his troops and asked, "Are there any among you who cling to the faith of the Christians? If so, let him step forward."

Forty soldiers instantly stepped forward two paces, saluted and stood at attention. Vespasian was stunned! He had not expected so many soldiers and such select ones. They were his finest and his best. Vespasian said, "Until sundown I shall give you time to recant and to deny your faith."

At sundown the soldiers were again assembled together and Vespasian asked: "Who still clings to the Christian faith, even if it means death?"

Again 40 soldiers stepped forward and stood at attention. Vespasian pleaded with them long and earnestly to deny their faith, but not one soldier would deny Christ.

Vespasian did not want these men he loved, respected, who fought side to side together, die at the hands of their fellow wrestlers, so he had them strip naked. Vespasian reluctantly said, "The decree of the Emperor must be obeyed, so you shall stand out on the frozen lake, exposed to the elements until you freeze to death. Should you recant and deny Christ, the fire will remain burning on shore, and by returning to the shelter of the fire, you will be denouncing Christ and you shall live."

The forty soldiers stripped out of their clothing, fell into four columns of ten each, and marched towards the center of the frozen lake, and to their death. But they cried out what they once chanted in the arena as they marched; "Forty wrestlers, wrestling for thee O Christ, to win for thee the victory and from thee the victor's crown."

All night long Vespasian stood by his campfire and watched those forty brave wrestlers out on the ice as they slowly succumbed to the elements. As they grew weaker and weaker, their cry grew fainter and fainter; "Forty wrestlers, wrestling for thee O Christ, to win of thee the victory and from thee the victor's crown."

As morning drew near, one figure overcome by exposure left the frozen lake, and came to the edge of the fire and renounced his Lord. Vespasian could hear faintly from the frozen lake; "Thirty-nine wrestlers, wrestling for thee O Christ, to win for thee the victory and from thee the victor's crown."

Vespasian was moved, and God touched his heart. Vespasian ripped off his cloak, helmet and armor and ran down upon the frozen lake and huddled with his men, and again they chanted; "Forty wrestlers, wrestling for thee O Christ, to win for thee the victory and from thee the victor's crown."

Theses were young, strong, powerful, vibrant men. They did not choose to please themselves or even others. The were committed to please the Lord! Are you?

"...your hearts must be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands..." (1 Kings 8:61)
"So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good." (1 Peter 4:19)

FAITH!

I do not know if this story is true, it was taken from the internet after all, but just think for a moment, if it is. Wow. If we were put to the test, could we stand? Could we deny our flesh and stand steadfast in the strength of God? Everything in your body sceaming for you to give up, to give in, to succumb. Glory to God!

I read something like this and it just makes me want to stand in awe.

Ephesians 6:12

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Now I know that these four instances listed in this passage refer to types of Demonic beings and what they want to acomplish, just look how they used the Emporer in this story to try and remove one of God's followeres from the flock. And one gave in, another seeing true faith, gave his heart and followed after, even to his own end.

Luke 14:27

27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Matthew 10:39
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Lord give me the strength to lay down my pride and to die out to self daily. Let me always seek after the things that bring glory to you, regardless of cost to me personally. My prayer is that each and every one of us would seek after these same things, it is pride and self that keeps us from doing what it is that Jesus himself had told us to do. Amen

Ok upon further research I found this :

Turns out that the story could not have happened the way it is told. Yes, there really was a rebellion in Gaul. In A.D. 68 Julius Vindex, a Roman senator who was governor of Gaul, rebelled against Nero. The Emperor may even have sent some wrestlers to Gaul, possibly under the command of Rubrius Gallus. But the general actually in charge of the whole campaign was L. Verginius Rufus, the governor of Germany. Vespasian was not involved in the Gaul campaign as he was busy with the Jewish rebellion in Jerusalem at the time. Furthermore, the campaign was in Spring, not in Winter. It began in March of A.D. 68 and finished in May. Nero died on June 9, even before he received word that Vindex was dead.

The true story, even more inspiring than the embellished one.

The real story happened in the city of Sebaste during the reign of Emperor Licinius in A.D. 320. A garrison of 40 Roman soldiers were stationed in this remote Armenian town, which is now Sivas, in Turkey. These soldiers were devout Christians. Upon hearing of this in Rome, the Emperor issued an edict, stating that those throughout the Empire who would not worship pagan gods would be tortured and put to death. An additional contingent of soldiers was sent to Sebaste to see exactly where the loyalties of these 40 Christians actually stood.

The 40 were arrested and ordered to offer sacrifice to the gods or lose their military status. They refused. Camdidus spoke for the rest: “Nothing is dearer or of greater honor to us than Christ our God.”

The governor tried other tactics to get them to deny their faith. He offered them rewards. He threatened them with torture.

Camdidus replied: “You offer us money that remains behind and glory that fades away. You seek to make us friends of the Emperor, but alienate us from the true King. We desire one gift, the crown of righteousness. We are anxious for one glory, the glory of the heavenly kingdom. We love honors, those of heaven. You threaten fearful torments and call our godliness a crime, but you will not find us fainthearted or attached to this life or easily stricken with terror. For the love of God, we are prepared to endure any kind of torture.”

The governor, finding them all resolute, caused them to be torn with whips, and their sides to be rent with iron hooks; after which they were loaded with chains, and committed to jail.

Later their general, Lysias, came and, finding the men still resolute, ordered them to strip naked in the bitter cold and march to the middle of a frozen lake. Campfires were set ablaze on the shore and a bath of hot water was offered to temp anyone who might desert. The men spent the night encouraging one another. Through the long hours of the night the commander stood by his campfire and watched as the soldier’s words and songs grew fainter.

As morning drew near, one figure, overcome by exposure, crept quietly toward the fire; in the extremity of his suffering he had renounced his Lord. But at that moment one of the sentinels on the shore tore off his clothes and walked out onto the lake to share the fate of the others, saying “I too am a Christian.” Some of the sources say that he saw something—a vision, a bright light—hovering over the 39. At any rate, 40 brave soldiers that day died for Christ. [Alban Butler, The Lives of the Fathers, Martyrs and Other Principal Saints, Vol.3 (D.&J. Sadlier & Co., 1864).]

The other men in that regiment, the cohorts of the 40, are unknown today. They created no ripples in the fabric of time. Their campaigns may have succeeded, or may have failed. I don’t know. But even if they succeeded, they succeeded in a cause that ultimately failed, for Rome fell to barbarian hordes less than two centuries later. It was only because those 40 Roman soldiers fought for a higher cause—one that must ultimately triumph—that we are still reading and talking about them today.

When they marched out onto that desolate ice, They were not alone. They knew that in another time, another place, they would wear a crown of glory bestowed by a higher Commander than the Emperor of Rome. But they probably thought their influence on the course of human events was pretty much over. How wrong they were!

SHARING DEEPLY

{JOHN 5:14 THIS IS THE CONFIDENCE THAT WE HAVE IN HIM,THAT IF WE ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL,HE HEARS US.}PRAYER SHOULDNT BE A BURDEN BUT A PRIVILEGE--A PRIVILEGE GOD HAS GRACIOUSLY GIVEN US BECAUSE HE WANTS OUR FELLOWSHIP.REMEMBER:JESUS CHRIST DIED TO DESTROY THE BARRIER OF SIN THAT SEPARATES US FROM GOD,AND WHEN WE GIVE OUR LIVES TO HIM WE HAVE A PERSONAL RELEATIONSHIP WITH GOD.IN FACT, WE HAVE ACCESS TO GOD IN PRAYER ONLY BECAUSE OF WHAT CHRIST DID FOR US BY HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION.BUT CENTERAL TO ANY RELATIONSHIP IS COMMUNICATION.ITS TRUE ON A HUMAN LEVEL;WHAT KIND OF RELEATIONSHIP DO TWO PEOPLE HAVE WHO NEVER TALK WITH EACH OTHER?IN A FAR GREATER WAY,OUR RELEATIONSHIP WITH GOD INVOLVES COMMUNICATION---NOT JUST AN OCCASIONAL BRIEF CHAT,BUT A DEEP SHARING OF OURSELVES AND OUR CONCERNS WITH GOD.I TALK WITH THE LORD EVERYDAY,THERES TIMES WHEN IM SO TIRED AND GO TO BED NO MATTER WHAT I DO I CANT GO TO SLEEP UNLESS I GET UP AND READ MY BIBLE OR PRAY,AND TALK WITH MY LORD.THEN I SIT BACK IN MY RECLINER AND JUST BE STILL,AND I CAN HEAR THE LORD SPEAKING TO ME AFTER REFLECTING ON WHAT I READ OR WHAT WENT ON IN MY LIFE THAT DAY.WHEN YOU THINK NOTHINS GOIN RIGHT IN YOUR LIFE ,YOUR ARE REALLY DOWN,TAKE A MINUTE AND PRAY ASK THE LORD TO HELP YA ,YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE OUT COME ,GOD LOVES US ALL NO MATTER WHAT,WE LOVE YA TO AND WANT THE BEST FOR YOU ,,HAVE A BLESSED DAY ,YOUR FRIEND IN CHRIST,RON

Christ in me

Too often people try to esteem themselves and all they can do and accomplish. The more I thought about esteeming myself through all the good things I could do, I realized how very difficult it was for me to do good things.Scripture began to reveal to me that it was'nt the good things I could do that gave me worth, it was CHRIST IN me.

EVERYTHING WE NEED

WHY DO WE NEED TO PRAY?THE REASON IS BECAUSE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS A JOURNEY,AND WE NEED GODS STRENGTH AND GUIDANCE ALONG THE WAY.ONE OF THE MAJOR WAYS HE SUPPLIES THESE IS THROUGH PRAYER.GOD DOESNT LEAVE US TO OUR OWN RESOURCES! INSTEAD,HE {2 PETER1:3"HAS GIVEN US EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIFE AND GODLINESS THROUGH OUR KNOWLEDGE OF HIM WHO CALLED US BY HIS OWN GLORY AND GOODNESS",EMPHASIS ADDED}PRAYER IS PART OF THE "EVERYTHING WE NEED."GOD HAS GIVEN US.,,, A PRAYERLESS CHRISTIAN IS A POWERLESS CHRISTIAN.A PRAYERLESS CHRISTIAN IS ALSO A CONTRADICTION,BECAUSE WE SHOULD YEARN FOR FELLOWSHIP WITH THE ONE WHO REDEEMED US.THROUGHOUT BOTH THE BIBLE AND THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH,THOSE WHO MADE THE GREATEST IMPACT FOR GOD WERE THOSE WHO PRAYED THE MOST. PRAYER IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN,THATS OUR COMMINUCATION LINE FROM US TO OUR MIGHTY GOD,WE CAN HAVE TALKS WITH HIM TELL HIM ANYTHING HES ALWAYS THERE TO LISTEN AND HELP US,,,,,HES MY LORD, MY GOD ,WHOM I LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART.,,I TELL PEOPLE THIS ALOT,IF YOU HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS IN YOUR LIFE,IF YOU DRINK,CUSS LIKE A SAILOR, DO DRUGS,YOUR LIFE IS UPSIDE DOWN,YOUR MARRIAGE IS A WRECK,AND YOU THINK YOU ARE THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD,AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LIVE FOR ,NO ONE COULD HELP OR CARE ABOUT YOU,,,,THERE IS A PERSON THAT WILL HELP HE WILL TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND MAKE THINGS BETTER,,THAT PERSON IS OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,,IVE BEEN THERE,AND DONE THAT,ASK JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR LIFE TODAY,YOU WILL HAVE A COMPLETE MAKE OVER ,,OUR LORD IS IN THAT BUSINESS,,YOUR LIFE WILL BE CHANGED AT THAT VERY SECOND YOU ASK HIM,,,, HE LOVES YA, WE LOVE YA ,HAVE A BLESSED DAY,YOUR FRIEND IN CHRIST, RON,,,GOD IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

Good work guys.

Do any of you guys ever wonder why it was necessary for Jesus to be sent to die for me and you? To me that was hard to understand before I was saved. And then it made since, but I heard it explained like this onetime.

There was an atheist who didn't believe, and was married to a Christian woman who couldn't get him to come to church because he thought it was a waste of time. So one night while she was gone to Church, the man heard a loud thump against the front of the house. He didn't want to get up and see what was wrong because it was blizzard conditions and bitterly cold outside. But he hears another thump and goes to see what is going on. He looks out and all he can see is a flock of geese that are flying around lost, that have lost their way in the stormy conditions. The man knows that if he does nothing that the majority will be dead before morning, so he tries to get them into his barn. The man tries to scare them into the barn without any success, he then tries to lure them in with food, and then it hits him. He will take on of his own out of the barn and let his own lead the rest into the safety of the barn. You see the world is lost and flying around in a blizzard and are going to parrish, so God knew that he could send his only son to lead and guide us to safety .

Christ in the Woods...

Yes, Christ is with us always, even to the end of days. Let me ask you this.

Do you take Christ to the woods with you? I ask this because recently while hunting alone, I was contemplating this exact question. How many times have we invited our best friend out for a night of hunting, or a stranger for that matter? That is an easy question right? The answer is dozens, if not hundreds of times!

Now the harder question, how many times have you shared your faith with that complete stranger? Your Best Friend? That is what this site is all about, encouragement, edification, education ( No I am not a Bible Scholar, but I am someone actively seeking to glorify God thru everything I do and say. I fail daily, but through the Grace of God, I am seeking his face daily. Please join us over at our temporary website, sign up (With your real name, not a screen name) and get active!

http://www.christinthewoods.acorn-creek.com/index.php

As it grows, I will buy a new server and migrate everything over to the new server, as well as developing a new website homepage. I am actively seeking a few people to help moderate, help with posting devotionals, and a non traditional bible study that is added to daily.

Thanks for reading this and God Bless.
