Mike,

Shaina is 6-months now, almost 7-months, and so I showed her a coon a couple weeks ago. She couldn't get enough of it! Very bold towards it and barked her head off.
So I ran a drag for her today. She found it right away and nosed up the right tree, but didn't bark. I brought Tanner out and once Tanner got up on the tree and barked, Shaina followed suit. She impresses me more and more every day! Next up will be to take her hunting.

What started as a neat idea one night pleasure hunting over 3 years ago has continued and grown to be a weekend that we all look forward to every year. The 3rd. annual Burnt Hog Hunt like prior years was filled with lots of laughs, GREAT FOOD!!, awesome hunting and a few empty Mason jars lol. This yearly gathering brings together great friends from all over the country that truly share the love of coon hunting. I know I speak for all that attended this year by giving a big THANK YOU to Lenny Regidanze and Bruce Menchofer for going above and beyond to make this years hunt another huge success.

The past 2 years we scheduled the Burnt Hog on a weekend that UKC had a Hunt close to Lenny's house that everyone can enter. Again this year Friday night in New Knoxville (OH) was the club we all attended. Congrats to Lee McCandless and his Cals Wild Chase female on placing 1st in the registered class finishing her to NITECH. also to Mark and Chaser on your NITECH. win.
This year we also decided to make up a traveling trophy for the Burnt Hog Hunt. Not for the hound the did the best but for doing something different or funny. Well Thurs. night we had a Plott dog tree 2 opossum so we were sure that we had our winner, until the UKC Hunt Fri night lol. On the 3rd drop of the night Sweetie was leading our cast with 300+ and all was well. She sounded odd but was barking her head off so I treed her. Well when we went in to her we couldn't believe what we saw....it was a little 50 lbs farm pig in the middle of the woods, he'd got out of the barn about a mile away. Needless to say after scratching Sweetie and laughing our heads off I realized that Sweetie would be the first recipient of the coveted award LOL. I think we'll change the name of this hunt to "Burnt by the hog hunt" LOL. The little pig was fine and we returned it to the barn.

What an awsome week we had. This hunt gets bigger and better every year but I don't think it's gonna be possible to top the 2 dogs that won the burnt hog hunt by baying a domestic pig in the middle of a 70 acre woods.you guys are goin to need to change Buckeye Wild Sweetie to Buckeye Wild Sweet and Sour (Pork)that is lol. I'm glad everybody had fun and treed a few coon after adding up the totals I think we saw about 85 coon in 3 nites.We need to get Lee Logan a new kitchen apron for next year he does a great job with washing dishes lol.thx again guys can't wait till next get together
