I hear the mountains of Ga might get a few flakes. These MOUNTAINS I got are too tall for me! I don't know how y'all drive up that way! Them curves are too sharp and they ain't got no guard rails!

LOVE THESE MOUNTAINS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HAVING TO WALK UP THEM AFTER A DOG. THAT STINKS. AND I CAN TELL I AM GETTING OLDER AND SLOWER. I USED TO NOT GET TIRED. NOY ANY MORE.

Good Evening Folks!

Howdy!
Long busy day and I had some computer maintainance that kept me off here till now.
Rainy last night thru the am today. I PLANNED my day like a fool... Since it was going to rain all am... I took a shower early to get ready to go get my flu shot... Figured I could try not to get chicken poo on me later WELL... darned if I haven't RUINED that silly BnT... he would NOT settle down. I wanted to KILL him... but I kept my patience.... and I threw on my over clothes and managed to go for a walk without getting wet or dirty! WOooHooo! We flushed some critter in the field... I will have to admit I saw it out of the corner of my eye and... coulda been a deer, yote, cat, fox? I seriously could not tell... it was not tiny... SO anyway unfortunately Webster SMELLED it and off we went! I was basically dragged up over a hill of rocks and down the other side... We stopped at one den for a LONG sniff... Webster, not me lol... and off we went.. but we came to the stonewall at the prop. line and had to call off the "chase". Webster is tall, 29" last time we ever measured him(at the withers)... and he was standing up TALL to wind... so it may well have been a deer? Was dragged too fast to look for prints... We must have looked like quite a sight... Got home in one piece, got my flu shot and the day seemed to be a BIG blur!
it was a GLORIOUS aftn with beautiful SUN! Supposed to rain again Sat Pm I think.. and to be honest I have NO clue what the temps will be... but it was a nice 57 for aftn chores. Other than the mud... slick I might add...lol.. it was a PERFECT Fall day!
Hoping all you Southern fellows and ladies don't get too COLD with that frost etc...
Get out and HUNT if you can and... take those cams along! HEather

Morning! It's 35 here this morning. Feels quite cold.

Reb I don't know how many counties in N Ga have tall mountains but I think the tallest probably are in the North Eastern part of the state. I have never driven all the way across . Here where we live it's just rolling hills. We have deep gorges and high hills in places but no tall mountains. The farther north you go from here the hillier it gets and further south it gets flatter. We are at about 600 ft.

My better half and I made a week-end trip up through some of north Georgia and into South carolina, North Carolina along the Blueridge Parkway in October of 2009. We intended on going on into Virginia along that route but rain had set in and we were not comfortable with driving on those roads in that weather. They were having rock slides in some places. We decided it best to head back to Georgia since we had limited time. We came back across some of North Georgia on our return trip. The most beautiful country we saw was in North Carolina along that route but as I said, we never made it to the Shenendoah Valley area. We very much enjoyed what we did see.

We put a gallery together of some of the pictures. The first ones are scenes in Georgia and the others in North Carolina I think . You can look at the top of the page and click on "Thumbnails" to change the format to individual pictures if you prefer to see them that way. Click on the link http://www.pbase.com/lazydays/north...;view=slideshow

MORNING EVERYONE. 31 DEGREES HERE NOW. NO SNOW ON THE GROUND. THERE WAS A LITTLE MIXED IN WITH RAIN LAST NIGHT ABOUT 10:00 AM. WHERE I LIVE WEST SIDE OF DANS MOUNTAIN I CAN LOOK ACROSS TO FROSTBURG AND THE TOP OF BIG SAVAGE MOUNTAIN THERE IS NO SNOW UP THERE EITHER. THAT WOULD BE THE EASTERN END OF GARRETT COUNTY. ON FURTHER INTO GARRETT THEY MAY HAVE.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS AND THEY ARE BEAUTIFULL. IF YOU GUYS EVER GET A CHANCE GO TO NEW HAMPSHIRE AND VERMONT THE WHITE MOUNTAINS ARE SOMETHING ELSE. MT WASHINGTON. YOU CAN DRIVE TO THE TOP OF IT. THEY ALSO HAD A TRAIN RIDE TO THE TOP. I WAS A KID AND CAN STILL REMEMBER IT.

I HAVE BEEN TO THE ROCKIES IN COLORADO AND IDAHO NOW THAT IS SOMETHING ELSE. PICTURES ARE GREAT BUT YOU GOTTA SEE EM. I SURE WOULD NOT WANT TO FOLLOW A COON HOUND THERE. FLYING INTO SEATTLE WASHINGTON WE FLEW RIGHT BY MT ST HELENS NOW TALK ABOUT NEAT.

ROB

CORKY & JOHNNY, I WAS ON BLUERIDGE IN VIRGINIA FOR A LITTLE WHILE IT WAS GREAT. WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF IT SOMEDAY.

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. Sure would have been nice to have met him. We saw a lot of dog boxes on trucks up that way.

We have been envited several times to go to Utah where one of my sons lives and of course they have sent pictures. Also seriously envited to come to Washington State and stay at a guest house free of charge, free use of a vehicle, free food, stay as long as you like. I don't know if we will ever make those but I know there is much more there than we have here in our neck of the woods.

We have been up in the Gastlinburg area of the Smokies. Beautiful up there too. I'd like to someday go to Yosemite, Yellowstone and places like that. If I could hit the big one maybe I could do some of that.

BRrrrrrrrrr!

You Southerners are KILLING me with your cold! It's about 46 here now... and it didn't seem much colder when I first went out this am... then again I'm STILL not really awake at this point... so I could be WAY wrong!

SPEAKING of weather... and Mount Washington... One yr my oldest son Richard did a winter camping trip there... they ended up having to stay on a lower camp since there was a rescue up high with weather issues...but MAN it sure DOES get COLD up there! They had a fantastic trip and hike and were in real good gear...BRrrrrrrrrrr!

Johnny, when I was little(young that is) My dad would take summers off and we would travel some... When I was four we did a cross country trip by car, did yosemite etc... My dad was a HUGE picture taker and Every year we would sit and watch the amazing slide shows. Bob and I got a thingie that lets you make slides into digital...and someday I want to take the collection and get them digital...there are many thousands.
I was a lucky young lady... I loved the fact my mum and father wanted us to see the whole country...

Heather

It's would be nice to see those old pix. Sounds like a BIG project for such a LITTLE lady but it certainly would be a treat for us if you did.
