HARPETH RIVER BLUE JACK X MCGINNIS' BLUE THUNDER PUPS
Mike Dunn in Alabama now has pups on the ground out of Jack x Thunder. This has been a very good cross. This cross has produced pups that have place at the SS 2 years in row. Which is also the 1st 2 years any pups out of Jack have ever been SS eligible. They have also placed at Bluetick Days and Battle of the Breeds and several other hunts winning trophies, yellow paper slips and money. Pups will be Performance and Super Stakes eligible. They will be Spring SS pups. This cross has been for the most part very early starters. However, I know of a couple that are later starters. I own one of the later starters he is now 13 months old. treed his own first coon a couple weeks ago. There has been a couple folks dissatisfied with their pups mouths from this cross. I'm sorry for that. I will say I have hunted with many out of this cross. Several have extremely good mouths, and none I have personally heard that couldn't be heard a long ways off. Good higher pitch carrying type mouths. Several with loud screaming type mouths. Most have had outstanding locates and most being very good tree dogs. I do know of one that maybe a dud. She will run and tree cage coon, and will run and tree squirrels in the daytime, but has not treed a coon yet at night. She does go hunting good, just not sure she is going to make the cut, she is 13 months old.
I will gladly serve as a reference on these Jack pups as I have hunted with a lot of them. Mike and myself can also give you other references of other pup owners if needed. You can also call me if you have any questions on Jack, as I raised him and hunted with him and owned him at one time. I also know about Jack's brothers and sisters, and owned and raised several of Jack's ancestors in his 3 generation pedigree. Jack himself came from an exceptional cross IMO.
How a few of these pups started from this cross. A female from the this cross treed her first coon by herself in the wild during the day at 3 months old. She was shown a caged coon twiced before that at a very young age and hated it. Several pups from this cross have treed their own coon at 6 and 7 months old. There is a young male from this cross that is 7 months old now that recently split treed twice with the coon from the old dog. This dog has only been running loose prior to that. No drags, no nets with scent. It was shown I kitten coon and treed on it also. I myself own, owned or have, had interest in 3 from this cross. Out of the 3 I owned, 1 treed it's 1st coon at 3 months old in the wild during the day, one treed his first coon in the wild at 5 months old and was consistantly hunted by himself till he was sold at 8 months old and is a very nice hound still today at the ripe old age of 25 months old. The other one I own is the one that was a later starter, treeing his first coon at 13 months old, but he was not hunted at all from 9 months old to 12 months old and was only in the woods a handful of times before then. I tend to blame the dog for being the late starter when in fact it was really some of my fault for not giving him much of an opportunity. It has been one of the three most early starting and natural starting crosses I have personally dealt with. The cross Jack was out of was also an early natural starting cross as was the cross Jack's sire Ambush came from. A common trait I have seen and heard of in many of Jack's pups from different females is the fact they are early starters. Are they perfect, no. Will they satisfy everybody, no, but have satisfied many.
I would like to purchase or lease a female that is out of Pounder x Sissy in the future. If you have one please contact me.(Chris Briner)at 618-553-4754. Thanks
