Feeding today I thought I would snap a picture of the ole boy.

If you go back to the beggining of this thread you will see Big Jim as a pup.How time fly's.

Big Jim is off Stinger and Midge.

He matured into a hound that was extremely accurate and not for the faint heart.(Extreme Hunt.)

Standing there today on his box I thought he looked pretty good for an 07 model.
With all the young hounds and such it is so easy to forget about all the good old ones.......and ole Stinger sure through his share.

Hi Shane,
Having fun with my new puppies. They are all over when I bring them in.
I ve been messing with a few older pups. I have some double Stinger with all my top crosses in it. These males are big and stout pups. I hope to get some big time track hounds out of this cross. I feel they will be well balanced,They sure act great.

John Gill and I made the trip up to Ken Hichcocks to watch his hounds run this weekend.We had a good trip and made it back to Ohio in one piece. I hope to make it up a few more times this year. Ken has two young males out of Edwards Blue Jake frozen semen that s showing a lot of promise. One is out of a daughter of Ellis Blue JIM and the other is out of Meadowoods Blue Penny. Both have big mouths and are good looking hounds. Both are just a little over a year old. Both seem to have good noses, good to see Ken set them down and give them a chance. Seen Huck and Mitchell Idaho JIM go too. I hope to get something bred to Huck he is direct off of Stinger and Mike Fairchild s Diamond. He s a nice bear hound from start to finish. He only has one litter on the ground so far, If you have a nice female and want to put a little extra balance and nose in your hounds Give Huck a try. Not mean or fussy in any way. Thanks Ken for the invite. Your hounds look good and it's good to see you have some good young stock coming up.
All is good here, Hounds are looking good and getting fat. I ve been working Kid and Cowgirl pups some. They are all doing well and I m getting good reports on The litter. Thank you guys for the calls and emails. If you called over the lastweek we had a storm come through and we lost our house phone for a whole week.Thank you for the calls always good to hear from friends. Congrats to my friend Dave From Flora he needs one more win on his Willow female to make her A Grand Nite she just turned Two the end of May. She also is qualified for world hunt this year. Thank you all for putting up with me and giving a Mosquito Creek line bred hound a chance.Take Care and Happy Safe Hunting.

I was looking back through some old pedigrees and looking through my notes and I had come across a note" Smokey River Rambler/Uchtman Rebel,I had talked to Carl Ellis on the phone back in the early 90 's and he liked breeding to Rebel and said he had good luck with the crosses.
I look back at some of the crosses I personally like and had good luck with go back to Rebel/Rambler.
When I think and look back at how much "Smokey River Warren Haslouer"has impacted the line of hounds I choose to follow. Warren diffently had a good eye for that something special type of hound. I'm so Thankful for all his dedication to the Bluetick Breed his great impact on the hounds I hunt today. Rambler/Sage/Diam.Jim/Jbs Cheif hounds are in my hounds multiple times.
I know Smokey River Rambler is a few decades back. Where and who tried to concentrate a line on Rambler/Rebel if any?
Mabe a little cabin fever has set in on this Valentines Day is a blessing. When Warren was in his prime he had to have a vision on the type of hound he wanted to follow weather it be big game hunting or coon hunting. I personally like a hound that has heart,stamina gear drive and look back at the hounds in pedigree Of hounds I hunt today. I look at the appearance of my hounds and wonder if Warren ever thought if he looked at color modeling,head,feet, ear length,muzzle? I really think he looked at what kind of track hound with speed,endurance,stamina and mouth and knew that everything would fall into place when he bred for all the above.As a small breeder and A guy who who hunts what he breeds I look into breeding within my family of blues and try to take the best of what is available from within say this line. With out deluting the gene pool. I have a few more tools available to me than Warren had. Frozen Semen on multiple hounds from the same gene pool. Dna is no doubt a great tool. Have hunted with all the hounds I have frozen semen on except Jake.(son of Jbs Cheif) I'm a very lucky man to have been put in such a unique position. No expert in anyway. I have a vision on the type of hound that I personally like tall slinder built for speed not chug headed in anyway. As I hunt what I breed,I like that cream colored chest. I've been lucky I've never had a liver colored or pure white hound born here at my house. I like seeing blanket black a throw back on mountain music line of hounds Eddie Ross had. That lets me know I'm keeping the gene pool tight.
I'm kinda partial in my studies and the good and bad misfortune's that have impacted the hounds I have today. Any way I've remebled enough. Have a good day.

I have 2.5 breeding of Jake semen,16 of Bakers Pistol Pete, my most prestigious is Bakers Mosquito Creek Stinger 3 breedings. Tree Daddy 5, Billy The Kid 11, Stinging Blue Jim ?, Ellis Blue Jim, 5 breedings.
Enough to abundantly preserve hounds of yesterday for my grandsons and friends.
I had a big offer on all my frozen semen that blew me away and prolly was a fool for turning it down. How could I put a price on something that has been such a big part of the best years of my life. I think the fun is just getting ready to begin. Being a houndsman today is something special not many left.

I had a good friend that use to hunt with my uncle call and stop by yesterday,he called today and said he left went home pulled out his old coonlights,looked at his old English Bert Oney pictures said Seeing my hounds ignited a spark and said would you sell me a pup? I told him I had a super nice male out of John Gills Cache and Sunni left told him to come get him. This guy took me rabbit hunting when I got out of the Army. I feel honored having the old timers getting hounds off of me. It's a little payback for taking time out and helping along the way.

diesel is a hard hard hunter and a monster tree dog! Abbey is a sister to mike Fairchilds Slewfoot. She is possibly the finest track hound I've ever had. Beautiful bawl mouth. I bred her to CACHE twice they are outstanding! Mt Real steel hound off this cross is LOUD LOUD hard tree dog handles and hunts like a dream.

Matt has all the componets to breed his line to the top!

Pennys pups are awesome as well. Meadowoods blue yeagar out od Edwards blue jake, Meadwoods Mountain Music Blue off Ellis Blue jim . littermate Mountaian music Jill is TUFF! Josh johns CASH dog off penny and jake will hit the hunts this year. Now there is Candy off Meadowoods Nt Ch Cool hand Luke. Matts Mosquito creek Jim is siring Hard hard tree dogs. His Dia female off penny and Ellis Jim is the storongest gene pool of any hound living and is making a top hound.

We've had some good hounds in the past and I know we set our expectations high. I'm Thankful that you decided to try a few of my hounds out. I think its been 4 years now and you and your hounds have accomplished a lot in 4 years.
I had a lot of fun running Luke and my Diamond Gal this past coon season. Luke is a real nice hound he is super fast on hotter tracks and can work a bad track out. He trees the same on both. It will be exciting mixing Luke in on a few females.
Tree Momma Sis is diffently the super star. She did produce some real nice hounds. Thanks again!!!

I want to Thank everyone calling and giving me updates on there young hounds off of Kid. He is reproducing some nice hounds across the board. Prolly the hottest one right now is one I gave to Dave from Flora Ill. He calls him Guage and is off of Powder. A lot of Smokey River Sage in her breeding. Double Stinger half brother sister cross with kid as Guage s sire.
