Goose x Dolly

I like the way you think. There should be some winners in this cross that should be able to win UKC, PKC, CHKC without a doubt. You know I love the old blood. I like seeing coons not trees. That's just me.
Keep up the good work. They sure should look and sound like a hounds suppose too.

HUNT

Ryan and I hunted last night. First drop we cut Goose and Spanky loose up a small branch that runs between 2 grown up fields. Dogs left hard and Goose soon hit the big creek and turned up it. He struck at about 600yds and trailed into an overgrown pasture. He treed and we made our way to him. He was up a large tree with blackberries growing all around it. We couldn't find his coon and headed to the truck. We caught Spanky on the way out. He is like his daddy and is a loner. Next drop we cut Cotton, Rooster, and Spanky up a creek bottom. Cotton struck and Rooster soon opened with her. Cotton mopped around too long in the area and I walked in and gave her some incentive to move on up the bottom. Rooster soon treed and Cotton loaded up with him. They were treed up a blown over tree and the coon could have been anywhere. We called it a night and will hit it again. It has been stifling hot here on dogs and hunters alike. We need some rain. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!!

HUNT

I hunted by myself Saturday night. Vapor has been dealing with a foot issue and I haven't been able to hunt him for a couple weeks. I sold Rock, Rooster and one of my pups out of Floyd. Chad Bobo brought me Vapor's brother from Arkansas. He is a stout built hound like Vapor with a big mouth but hasn't been fooled with much. His name is Leroy. I cut Leroy and Cotton in a new place that I acquired to hunt. Cotton got deep but Leroy hunted a little and kept checking back in to me. He got sick in the box and acts like a 6 month old pup. Time will tell if he will come around and get started. Cotton worked an old feed track for a long ways and finally got treed at about 7/10's. I had loaded up my Polaris ranger but decided to walk as I didn't really know about the trails in the area. Cotton had the meat and I rolled it out to her. We made our way to the truck and I caught Leroy on the way out. I loaded up and drove back towards the house and cut Goose alone. he struck and treed at about 500yds and had the meat. I called it a night and will hit it again tonight. Keith Sparks texted and said his Goose pup treed another coon alone last night. Ole Hank is gone be a nice one!!

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. First drop I cut Cotton and Vapor loose in a swamp bottom. Cotton went about 500yds and opened once and died up on a tree. Vapor hit it with her pretty quick and I made my way to the tree. I soon spotted their coon and rolled it out to Vapor first. I cut cotton in on it and they finished him off. Next drop I cut Goose and Leroy up a small creek bottom. Goose went the wrong way and soon treed right by a house. I slipped in and he was in the edge of a grown up field up a large oak tree surrounded by blackberries. I eased out of there and didn't look the tree. I decided to cut Goose and Leroy again. I cut them up a small creek that runs between 2 overgrown fields. Goose left out hard and Leroy went with him a ways but soon came in and was in and out for a while. Goose was over 800 yds so I decided to tighten up on him some. I soon barely heard him treed and he was 9/10's of a mile from where I cut him up the big creek. I made my way to him. He was up a big poplar tree and I looked for a long time and couldn't see the coon. I leashed Goose and headed to the creek. I backed up in the creek and soon spotted the coon looking at me. We made our way to the truck and it was 12:20am. I called it a night and we will keep pounding on these ole potlickers. Y'all keep'em Lookin' up!!

HUNT

Ryan and I hunted for a while last night. First drop we cut Cotton and Spanky in a swamp bottom. Cotton struck and started a track but it sure didn't seem like a very good track. Terry Tibbs had called me at about 4:30 and said he just saw a coon cross the road, so I think they stirred early here. Cotton worked the track up on the side of a hill and loaded up treed. We really couldn't see the tree as she was in an area with heavy canopy. We looked for a short while and headed to the truck. Next drop I cut Vapor alone. He struck at about 100yds and started a track. He moved the track out good and crossed a powerline into some pines and blackberries. He soon loaded up and we drove up the gravel road even with him and headed to his tree. He was treed in a pine thicket with blackberries everywhere. We couldn't find his coon and I'm not sure he didn't just miss it but it was thick and a coon could have been there somewhere. Next drop we cut Goose and Spanky up a ditch but Goose decided he wanted to go the other way. I pulled up the gravel road and caught him trying to cross into 50acres of cutover. We moved and cut them again into a bottom and both dogs hit an area and never opened but kept coming back to the general area. It was getting late and my frustration was building so I just walked in and called Goose to me. Ryan caught Spanky and we called it a night. Sure wasn't a good hunt but it is blazing hot and just couldn't get after a decent track. I will keep on these potlickers and see what I can get accomplished. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!!

Hunt.

I hunted Goose at the Alabama State Hall of Fame hunt last night. We had a chance to win it at the end of the hunt as Goose was treed on the creek alone. He was up a large tree with a huge oak tree fell over into it and I just couldn’t get his coon to look. Ryan hunted Cotton and didn’t do any good either. Just gone stay after them. Ryan and I hunted last night. First drop we cut Dolly and Annie. Annie is Ryan's pup. Dolly has just went out of heat and I can tell as she is acting crazy. We cut Dolly and Annie up a ditch that has some water in it and leads to a large creek. Dolly struck and ran a track up to the road and was trying to cross. We pulled up and caught her. We moved back and sent her down the creek and she peeled around and crossed the paved road and hit a big field. she hunted about 450yds and soon came back to the truck. We loaded her and Annie in truck and cut Goose and Vapor loose up the creek. Vapor went left and Goose went straight up the creek. Goose struck at about 450yds and started working a track. Goose soon loaded up treed and we started to him. Goose was up a huge tree and we started shining. I seen the coon look twice but lost him. Ryan soon spotted him and rolled him out to Goose. Vapor came into the tree but got leashed back. Goose got really hot and we took him to the creek and cooled him down. This hot weather has affected him. We decided to cut Dolly and Annie again. We sent them up a small creek bottom. Dolly struck a track and headed up in the hills. She soon hit the gravel road and cut up the road. We pulled up and caught her. Dolly needs to get her hormones back in order as she doesn't even look like the same dog. I will get her on track and get her mind right in the next couple of weeks. Y'all Keep'em Lookin UP!!

HUNT

Ryan and I hunted last night. It was smothering hot here on handlers and dogs. First drop we cut Cotton and Spanky down a creek bottom that is bordered by some grown up fields. Cotton struck quick and spanky soon opened with her. Cotton drove that coon into the bottom and blew up on a tree on the side of the creek. Spanky came into the tree and hit it some but he doesn't want to back a dog at all. We soon found Cottons coon and rolled him out as the landowner wants us to kill the coons here. We gathered up the dogs and cut Cotton, Spanky , and Leroy ( Vapor's Brother) in a swamp bottom. Cotton went left and Leroy and Spanky went right. Leroy soon ended up coming back towards the truck and just messing around at about 150yds. Spanky was easing on across the bottom. Cotton soon struck at 700yds and she was in the rough part of the bottom with a lot of water, mud, and snakes. She soon loaded up treed and we drove to within 200yds of her and headed in to the tree. She was up a tree that ran into another tree and both were den trees. We made our way to the truck and drove around and I picked up Leroy. We moved on around to a logging road and Spanky was in no man's land. He was about 800-900 yds but wasn't barking or treed. We started walking to get closer but he was just getting deeper and still had not opened. We finally gave up on him at about 1 am and he got to spend the night in the woods last night. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July and try to keep ole blue cool. I have been throwing a bag of ice in the dog box with the dogs and I can tell the difference. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' up!!

Thx for more good stories. Your dog looks as wet as my new Queen female looked last night. She was barely able to swim out of half bank full flooded river along a steep bluff to level ground to get out. Had me really worried for awhile. HUNT

I went to Tuscaloosa on Saturday night to a UKC hunt and show. I showed Goose in the show and got beat by a redbone. Cotton needed 2 wins to make GrNtChGrCh and I decided I am going to push her hard for a few weeks and try to get the 2 wins. I hunted her in the NtCh cast and ended up drawing Ryan in the cast as well handling Goose for me. Cotton won the cast and got another win so I need 1 more to finish the ole girl. Goose had a chance at the end but didn't see his coon. Hopefully I will get the win on Cotton and Goose will get my full attention in the hunts and get him finished out as well. I caught a coon and messed with Leroy and my Queen female during the daylight this weekend and both dogs got fired up good. I cut the coon and Leroy treed it up a pine tree. I rolled it out to him and he liked it so maybe he can get started. He is a littermate to my Vapor dog but hasn't been hunted at all. Got to thin down some more soon and keep on pounding on what stays here at the kennels. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

I appreciate it buddy. Cotton deserves to be finished and she has been put on the back burner or put in the hands of inexperienced handlers several times and I decided that I would give her my undivided attention in the woods and in the hunts for the next few weeks and get her what she deserves. Cotton is the kind of dog that won't just operate for just anyone. She will hunt and tree but they won't get full effort that I get when it is me and her. Hopefully I can get her last win soon and have plans to hunt her in a RQE in a few weeks. Hopefully the pups from her and Floyd will have the drive and heart of this little gyp.

There’s no doubt that cotton is a COONDOG I’ve read off and on for about seven years about her performance and knew I wanted a pup off her and had to go through some hoops to get one bought but got it done. I’m shooting to head your way the first Saturday I get everything lined out.

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. First drop I cut Cotton and Leroy down the creek. Leroy hunted good last night with Cotton and split off to himself for a good while. Cotton struck at about 500yds and opened about 7 or 8 times and loaded up treed. She had came off the creek and had worked her way up a ditch that led into a rough little bottom. Leroy came into the tree and opened a few times but never really treed much with any focus. I couldn't really see the tree much as it was so thick with privot hedges and undergrowth. I finally just leashed up the dogs and headed out to the truck. I moved to a small creek bottom and I cut Dolly and my Queen pup loose. Dolly struck at about 75yds and started a track but it wasn't a good track. She struggled with the track and treed for a couple of minutes and moved on up the bottom. She finally loaded up treed right and I headed to her. Queen had opened some but just here and there. Dolly was up a huge oak tree and I could see a lot of the tree but just couldn't get him to look if he was there. It is pretty difficult to find coons alone if they don't just look right at you this time of the year. Hopefully the blackberries are about burned up around here and coons will get back in the bottoms and start hitting the roastin ears. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!

Ryan and I hunted for awhile last night. First drop we cut Goose and Ryan's Annie pup. Goose left hard and Annie went a ways but ended up coming back to us. Goose soon was deep so we headed to the truck and loaded Annie up in the box. Goose had gotten about .65 from where we cut him so we decided to drive around and see if we could get closer. We got a little closer but he soon took a turn and headed towards another gravel road. We moved around and I stopped and heard him trailing and soon loaded up treed. He was not too far and we headed about 250yds in to his tree. He was treed in a small bottom alongside a little creek. Ryan found his coon pretty quick and we headed out to the truck. Next drop we cut Cotton, Vapor, and Annie again. I haven't been hunting Vapor a lot because his mouth has not been right. I have had him on the LA 200 but it is not helping much. It makes me sick as he had a monster mouth and doesn't bark in the kennel much. He was hoarse when I got back from vacation in June and has not been right since. Vapor went right and Cotton and Annie went left. Cotton struck at 700yds and seemed to be on good track. Annie soon headed to Cotton and Vapor wasn't far behind her. Cotton soon treed and Vapor backed her. We drove around to a shooting house and got within 200yds of the dogs. We headed in to the dogs and Annie was treeing some as well. I saw the coon on the way into the tree. We leashed up the dogs and had intentions to shoot the coon out to the young dogs and saw it one more time but never got it to look again. We called it a night and wrapped up another hot night. Hunting right now sure isn't for the faint of heart!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

I hunted Cotton in a UKC hunt last night at Russellville
She looked really good. It was a 1 hour hunt and she got deep and alone with the meat. 225+. Finished her to Dual Grand last night and she deserves it. I shouldve already had it done. She is a coondog.

Thanks guys. I just wanted her to have the title. Don’t make her any better but she did deserve it. Going to hit a RQE and try to get her qualified for world hunt too.
