Hunt

Thanks Barry. I like him.

Ryan and I hit a UKC hunt tonight. I hunted Goose and Ryan hunted Cotton. We ended up drawing out together. Cotton won cast with 400+. Goose had a chance with a tree at the end of the hunt but we couldn’t see his coon. Cotton got alone and got a coon by herself and also a big den tree. Goose payed a little too much attention to cotton at the first of the hunt but finally kicked on in there and got hooked. Goose ended up with 200+. I appreciate Ryan handling Cotton. She looked good tonight. Y’all keep’em lookin up!!

CROSS

Dolly looks like she is starting to come in heat. I have been waiting to make this cross. I hoped that Ryan would have her finished to NtCh but they had a run of bad luck and just couldn't get a break. Dolly has 2- 1sts and a 3rd towards NtCh and we will get her finished when she goes out of heat. I have finished Goose to ChNtCh and have gotten a couple of NtCh wins on him as well as qualifying him for the UKC world hunt. He will be finished to Dual Grand. Pups from this cross will line up a lot of old blood. Both dogs have big mouths and are hard chop mouth tree dogs that are clean at the tree. I can't wait and hopefully I will have good luck with the litter.

HUNT

I didn't get to hunt last night as we had family over for Memorial Day. Thank you to all the Veterans that paid the price for me to have the freedom to enjoy cutting loose an ole Bluetick Hound. I will hit the woods every night this week and see if we can continue to fine tune!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

Goose x Dolly

Wow what a cross.
You know I'm a big fan of the old Uchtman x Smokey River crosses.
You keep looks, size and big hound mouths with go and nose. Plus you get the accuracy.
I hope you can make this happen.
Keep up the winning on Goose.
Any pedigrees on the Blue Gal female or Emma yet :-)
I hope you wife is doing well and family. Take care my friend.

CROSS

Thanks Elmo. The dogs really compliment each others strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully I can get Goose finished to Dual Grand soon. He has been winning pretty consistently.

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. First drop I cut Cotton and Vapor in a swamp bottom. Cotton went left handed and soon struck at 200yds on a small creek. She was on a good track and was moving it on in the bottom. Vapor soon struck to the right at 375yds and started a track headed the other way across the bottom. Cotton soon loaded up treed and I headed to her. She was up a large leaning poplar tree that ran into a large oak tree. I looked for a while but there were so many places the coon could be and I couldn't get him to look. I leashed Cotton and headed to the truck. I could hear Vapor load up treed while I was shining Cottons tree. He was 625yds down the bottom. I was able to move around and stop about even with Vapor on the road. I headed out to him and he treed solid. I got to him and he was up a large red oak. I had to break down some small trees to get a spot I could see the tree at all. I looked for about 5 minutes and heard a vehicle stop up on the road by my truck so I leashed Vapor and headed to the truck. It was a guy that says he used to coonhunt and wanted to hear a dog tree. I moved to a different location and cut Goose and a pup I call Queen loose in a creek bottom. Goose left out hard and went about 350yds and hung around in the area for a few minutes. He soon struck and started a bad track. Queen had came out and I encouraged her to go back hunting. Goose was drifting out on the track and soon was about 750yds down a small creek. I drove around and Queen was headed to Goose. Goose soon loaded up treed and I made my way to him. He was also up a large tree and I had a hard time finding somewhere I could see much of it. I didn't find his coon and caught Queen on the way to the truck. I called it a night and will hit the woods tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!!

HUNT

Ryan, my daughter Jenna Kay and I hunted for a little while last night. It sure has been hot lately trying to hunt. First drop we cut Rock and Ryan's Spanky pup in a new area. I had never been there but Ryan said he had cut loose there last week and Cotton treed a coon. Rock and Spanky went to the right and struck a track but it wasn't a good track at all. Rock was struggling with it some and we pulled up to get closer. The only timber that was in there where the dogs were was on a small ditch of water. They were in about a 10yr old cutover that was extremely rough. Spanky came out and we loaded him up. Rock was doing his best to move the track but it was a mess in there. We decided to move up the road and cut Cotton and Vapor. Cotton struck followed by Vapor and they split up. Cotton shot across the bottom and loaded up treed. Vapor is hard headed and kept trying to tree and would not go to Cotton. Rock ended up coming into Cottons tree and I leashed him up. Cotton had two or three coons up the tree. We rolled one out to her since she hasn't had a coon shot out in a long time. I caught Vapor and we called it a night since I had Jenna Kay with us. We will try again tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

hunt

Ryan, Drake and I hunted last night. First drop we cut rock and Drake's young dog Rooster in a swamp bottom. Rock struck a track that wasn't a very good track at about 200yds. It wasn't a great track but Rock did a good job of moving it on out. He did get hung up some at about 450yds but soon located and treed. Rooster backed him and we headed to the tree. They were on a smaller sweet gum that ran into a huge Turkey Pine. We couldn't get the coon to look. I cut them off that tree and Rock struck again at about 200yds. Rooster opened some with him and they worked a track up the creek. Rock loaded up treed and rooster backed him. We headed in to the tree and Ryan found the coon while we were leashing up the dogs. We decided to move and we cut Goose and Vapor in a creek bottom. Goose opened at about 250yds and skipped out and fell treed in a swampy area. Vapor came into the tree and we soon found Goose's coon. We walked a short ways and recut dogs. Vapor went left and opened at about 400yds on the creek. Goose had went right handed down the bottom and soon opened at about 200yds. He opened here and there and skipped out to about 400yds and loaded up treed. We made our way to the tree and Goose had another coon. Vapor got treed deep and we loaded up Goose and drove around. Vapor was treed in an underground spring. We called it a night and plan to hit a hunt tonight. Y'all keep'em Lookin Up!!

Hunt

I took Goose to a PKC legacy hunt Friday night. I had to send my DC 50 collar back to garmin as it wouldn’t pick up a satellite signal so I was using my sons DC 30 collar because it picks up better than my 40’s. We cut loose and I lost Goose at 50yds. I was 3 hours from home and I know how Goose can blow thru the country. I was hoping he would get treed within hearing pretty quick so I could get a different collar on him. Two walker gyps got treed the other direction and we starting hunting away from where Goose was when the collar quit. I decided to withdraw and drive on towards where the guide said the river was located. I found Goose treed up a small creek about a half mile from where I cut him loose. He had a coon and I was holding first strike so I was somewhat disappointed but a hunt wasn’t worth losing Goose that far from home. The collar had somehow just cut off. I got home at about 2:30 and left at 4 headed to the beach. Ryan also hunted Cotton and came up just short in his cast. They scored 500+ but cast winner had 525+. Cotton had 3 split trees with the meat. I’ll be headed to a hunt Saturday night when I get back. Ryan and Drake are going to hunt dogs some while I’m gone. Y’all keep’em lookin up!

Congrats

Bought a camper last week, so will plan on seeing some of this dog power next winter, when they start talking 20 below weather around here. And most all your reptiles are in hibernation!!! Keep up the good work. Take care, Ron.

Hunt

Dolly was bred to Goose Friday evening. I have been waiting for the cross to happen and hopefully have good luck with the pups.
Ryan and I hunted a double header at Arab last night. Ryan won first cast with Cotton and got a win on her. Pepper Blackmon won second round with Angel. She did a good job on only coon we saw. Goose looked worse than I ever saw him look. He didn’t have treeing coons on his mind. He never really kicked on like his normal self and was paying way too much attention to Cotton. I won’t make any excuses for him but I know the breeding affected him. I will breed Dolly again today and I will get his head right this week!! Y’all keep’em lookin up!!

HUNT

Ryan and I hunted last night. Trying to get back in the swing of things since my wifes health problems and taking a vacation. We cut Ryan's new pup called Annie out of Goose and ole Rock loose in a swamp bottom. Dogs hunted out good and Rock soon struck a bad track. Annie opened a few times here and there and really showed some independence but coons really didn't seem to stir. Rock's track was not good at all and he was struggling with it. He moved it on out to about 500yds and hit a ditch that runs under the road. He didn't cross the road and circled back into the bottom. I was getting frustrated and decided to move up the bottom and cut Goose and my queen pup. Goose circled to the right and hit the creek. He ended up going right thru the area that Rock was in and kept moving down the bottom Goose opened here and there and was at .75 in just a few minutes and blew up treed. Rock ended up backing him and we waded a lot of mud and water but finally arrived at the tree. Goose had the meat and we called it a night and made our way to the truck. We caught up both of the young dogs on our way to the truck. We will hit it again tonight. Y'all Keep'em lookin' UP!!

HUNT

Ryan and I hunted for a while last night. First drop we cut Cotton and Spanky. Cotton struck on the creek and started working a track. She was moving out of the bottom and heading up into some cut timber and pine thicket. Spanky was on up the creek about 275yds. Spanky let out a locate and rolled up on a tree right!! We headed in to him and he was treed up an oak tree right in the edge of the pine thicket. I found his coon and we tried to shoot it out to him but it would only look every once in awhile. Spanky is going to be a really classy tree dog. Spanky is 10mths old and is out of Goose and a Spanky-Clear River Diamond Jim female. There are 4 pups that lived out of the litter and I know that 3 have treed their own coon. I'm not sure about the 4th one. Cotton ended up treed up a pine tree in a pine thicket in a bunch of blackberries. Next drop we cut Rock and Belle down a creek that is bordered by a cutover that is full of blackberries. Rock struck at about 300yds and Belle soon opened with him. They ended up in the cutover and soon treed. They were in some rough stuff. Blackberries and briars over head high. We finally got to the dogs but they were treed up a clump of small trees covered in blackberries over our heads. I think they just missed the coon. We called it a night and gone keep on pounding on them. Y'all keep'em Lookin' Up!

HUNT

I had a gentleman from Georgia come last night to hunt with my NtCh Rock dog that I have for sale. We got to the woods at about 9:00. I cut Rock alone up a small creek bottom. Rock struck at about 100yds and started up the creek for about 20yds. He came back to where he struck and opened a few times then lined the track out. He trailed up the bottom to about 300yds and loaded up treed. We took our time and headed out to him. Rock was treed up a leaning tree that ran into a couple of large trees. I soon spotted his coon up the larger tree. I rubbed ole Rock on the head and we headed to the truck. Next drop I cut Rock alone into an old swamp bottom that has quite a bit of water. He hit the creek at about 125yds and struck a feeder track. He worked down the creek pretty good for about 300yds and got hung up for a bit. He finally moved to the right and loaded up treed close to a feeder. He was up a good sized tree and I didn't see his coon. It could have been there but I think he missed it. We moved to some hills and cut Rock alone down a big hollow. Rock struck on a small creek at 175yds and started working a track up the branch. He went about 200yds and loaded up treed. We found his coon pretty easy and headed to the truck. It was 12:15 am and the gentleman wanted to cut him again. We went to a pretty rough little creek bottom and cut Rock alone again. He turned and went parallel to the road and hit a decent sized creek. He crossed under the road but ended up coming back across and struck in the creek. The moon was shining bright and the track wasn't very good. It took him a little bit to get lined out but he headed up the big creek and took a right hand turn into a feeder creek. He located a few times and hushed and moved on up the creek. It was getting really late and I had to work today and I decided to just catch him up and call it a night. I rolled in the house and took a shower and hit the bed at 2:00am. The gentleman did not buy Rock and expressed his concern about hunting him in the mountains of Georgia. I do not shock dogs and make them come in to the truck but I have been told Rock would come to tone. I will find out next week to answer the question that I've been asked a lot. Rock did a pretty good job last night for a full moon night. He isn't perfect but will tree you some coons. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I took Cotton over to an RQE hunt on Saturday night and she looked pretty good but we just had some bad luck. Drew 2 walker dogs and one of those "HANDLERS". First drop I got first and first on a a big leafy tree with a lot of canopy and we just couldn't find Cottons coon. Both walker males backed her. Next drop Cotton peeled around and went about 50yds and loaded up again. I struck and treed her with the GRNTCH walker backing again. We seen her coon. We cut off that tree and the GRNTCH walker treed and Cotton came in and located. I treed her and she checked and left the tree. I should have held off and that one was on me. She took the track on and the walker left too and headed to Cotton. She crossed the road and loaded up treed. Both walkers backed her. When we walked up to the tree, Cotton was about 4 feet away at the creek drinking water and came back and blew up on the tree and drew minus. It was really hot and I couldn't be mad at her. I knew she was hot after the first 2 trees. We cut again and she ended up back at the same tree. I cut her and she swam the creek and loaded up treed on a big den. Circled it up and all dogs came in to her tree. We had 10 minutes to hunt. Cotton was even, GrNtCh male had 100-, other male had 50-. We cut and dead silence. Cotton struck at 950yds with 10 seconds left in hunt. bout 45 seconds after the hunt was over she loaded up treed. She had the coon but about 1 minute too late. Just wasn't our night and we will try again. Goose is qualified and hopefully I can get Cotton qualified as well. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I hunted last night for a while. First drop I cut Cotton and a 10mth old female that I call kate. I cut them down a small creek that runs between 2 grown up fields and leads into some good hardwood. Cotton struck pretty quick and the pup opened with her. Cotton ran the coon thru the blackberries and loaded up treed at about 150yds. I made my way to her and it was thick and nasty getting to the tree. She was up a large oak and I soon spotted the coon and rolled it out to her and the pup. The pup hasn't been hunted much and still isn't real sure about a coon. She will mouth on it but isn't turning flips crazy about one yet. I tried to get the coon out alive but it was pretty much done when it hit the ground. I made my way to the truck and loaded up Cotton and got Goose out and collared him up. I cut him down the main creek with the pup. He left hard and the pup went with him. He got about 500yds and I started easing his way. I soon heard him open at about 800yds and he was drifting up the creek. I soon heard him locate and load up treed. I got to him and he was treed right on the side of the creek up a huge poplar tree. I looked for a good while and soon spotted his coon. I rolled it out to him and the pup. I made my way to the truck and Ryan was there waiting on me. He had got tied up and had just made it there. We decided to cut Cotton and Spanky down the creek. They left hard and soon were down in the creek. Cotton came up the creek and turned up a ditch. Spanky soon was with her. Cotton ended up in the same area that she had treed the coon earlier and struck and loaded up treed pretty quick. We got to her and she was up a huge oak tree. Ryan said he saw the coon but I never seen it and we couldn't get it to look again. I called it a night and Ryan said he was turning Spanky loose alone. I haven't gotten his hunt report so I don't know if he had any luck or not. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

GOOSE

Goose has one litter of pups on the ground and another litter on the way. Ryan and I are partners on a pup we call Spanky out of Goose and he is 10mths old. He has developed into a dead loner like his daddy. He has split treed with a coon the last 4 times we have hunted him. Keith Sparks has a male from this cross that is running and treeing his own coon as well. I am excited about Goose's next litter out of Dolly.
