I've had a few ask in the last couple of days how bright the HD really is. At first I thought they were thinking it wasn't as bright as it should be but after quizzing a couple of them I found out they are comparing it to other lights that are advertised as being as bright and finding out the others are close but not as bright.
I have said it before that I advertise them at 100,000 lux. They have to do that to go out the door, but they average between 115-120,000 lux with some of them being 130,000 or better. The next question is why the difference? Its a long list of reasons, first its the drivers. Not all 7135 chips out put the same, there are tolerances. The second biggest thing is the focal point of the led. I adjust everyone of them, kind of like fine tuning reeds on a call. So when all of it is perfect you get 130,000 or better. When its not you get 100,000. The thing about it is most people cant tell the difference in 100 and 130. I can but not everyone can. Its like on our spot lights. I have some of them doing 180,000 lux, but in normal shinning distances people can't tell the difference in it and 100,000 lux. Once you get that bright it hard to tell. I hope this helps some of the questions and thanks.
