A good friend of mine in Carbondale IL is having great luck with his young hound. He just told me today that he's out of Jack. He's less than a year old, got a bunch of coon under his belt and doing good in the hunts. I've heard him treeing over the phone. Good job! And keep up the good work, Chris!

Thanks Steve. I spoke with your friend few months back. He was telling me about his young hound. He was looking to get another, but I didn't have anything available at that time.

I see where you and Lowell have hunted some together. I seen some pics of your male hound, he is a nice looking dog. It sounded like you guys had a good hunt. I bet Lowell talked your leg off. just kidding Lowell.

Talked with Mike today. Mike has been getting some good reports on Jack pups down his way. It is good to hear about these young hounds out of Jack.


I would like to congratulate Matt White and his nice young hound out of Jack named Camo. Matt entered Camo in his first UKC hunt last weekend and won his cast and got a 3rd place. I believe Camo was the only blue dog at the hunt. I know Camo drew all Walkers on his cast. Once again congrats Matt and Camo. Best of luck and continued success in your future hunts.


If anyone is interested I have a friend that has a sister to Jack that is a year older that is a Show Ch and has a UKC 1st place win. My friend is selling out. She has been bred twice. First time with very good results. Second time she didn't take, I believe she was bred too late is why she missed. She is a nice tree dog and her pups are nice tree dogs. This is 'PR' Conecuh River's Blue Ruby. She is about almost a year and a half old. She is out of Jack and Briner's Blue Midnight Balie. She is the first coonhound me and my brother have ever owned. So far, I'm very pleased with what she has done considering our lack of experience.

Just talked to a man today that has a young male out of Jack that is 6 months old. He told me showed this little male pup his first coon ever. It was in a tree that had several kitten coons in it. He told me the little pup treed for 3 hours on that tree by himself. Hopefully we will be seeing this pup at the Fall SS this year if he keeps progressing. Mike Dunn has a littermate to this male, that he tells me is something special. We may see him also at the Fall SS. I believe there is already 2 Jack pups that are qualified at this time to hunt in next years Spring SS as well. I have also heard of several Jack pups picking up UKC cast wins and places this year. I also spoke with Mr. Cooper from TN. He bred his female to Jack and raised a super nice litter. Mr. Cooper told me he kept 2 males for himself and both have treed several coons so far at 9 months old. He told me they have real good mouths that can drive a track and are stay put tree dogs. He is very pleased with them.

For those interested I believe there is still a 6month old female off of Jack x Thunder that is for sale in Alabama. She is UKC Performanced and PKC Super Staked.

I myself have too many irons in the fire so to speak. I'm overstocked on young pups and dogs. I have decided it best that I try and sell a few. I have a 5 month old male out of Jack x China(Rebel X Lucy) that I will be getting back on a deal that i would sell. I have a female, she is out of Hardware(brother to Jack) x Maggie(Iron Will x Coats Bawl Creek Lucy) she is 12 months old, that I would consider selling. Truth is I don't really want to sell any of them, but I can't hunt them all like they need to be either. So this is why I have decided to try and sell a few. I got Joe back when he was 6 months old. Joe will be 13 months old this month. Joe was worked with a few times and was not showing much interest before I got him back. I let him tag along for a few hunts when I got him. I had not done anything with him since February. I have taken him by himself the last 2 nights. Last night Joe treed his first coon on a telephone pole. Then next drop Joe ran a red hot coon in a road culvert. Joe also treed on his first tree tonight and had the coon, and tried to tree another, but just couldn't get it pin pointed. Joe has been a later starter than most out of Jack, but it's not all his fault. A lot of it is mine. I have owned him since he was 6 months old and took him to the woods less than 10 times. I myself have never shown him a caged coon. I have never used scent with him either. He did chew on a couple dead coon during season that were shot out to the older dogs. The last 3 times Joe was taken to the woods, I took him by himself. Joe is just starting and has a long ways to go, but nights like last night is why I really enjoy coon hunting, and makes it exciting for me. Watching and hearing a young hound tree his first coon, is the best part for me. I really like how Joe uses his nose. He almost reminds you of a deer smelling into the wind trying to pin point you in a deer stand. I like how smart he is. I really believe this young hound understands what I am saying to him. Joe makes the 6th young hound out of Jack that I have personally seen tree their own 1st coon. I am excited to see Joe's future hunts and to see him progress. I know we will have our ups and downs in the process, but thats all part of it. Below is a picture that I knew would be taken someday and that someday was last night. Joe's 1st tree, coon seen.
