Okay boys, I picked Gertie up today. She was bred to Rocky and Mike reports 3 knots between the two. Here is a picture of Gertie. Not a good one, but it was raining and cold, so I took one photo with Mike holding her and loaded her in the box.

I still have one Slew Foot pup left. Gertie is due with her Rocky pups in late May, early June.

I'll be at Bluetick Days on Saturday to visit. I'm delivering at least one pup and hopefully a young male I have sold. I still have the one male pup for sale and can bring him if I have a least a $50.00 deposit in hand. Gertie is due in 4 weeks with pups off Upson's Rocky owned by Larry Anderson in Montana. Mike Fairchild has Rocky at his place up on Drummond and is looking to breed a couple of his gyps to Rocky. I hope to see as many people and old friends as I can at Bluetick Days in 2 weeks. Good luck to all the Bluetickers hunting that weekend!

At this time it looks like I have all of the Slew Foot x Crow pups sold (fingers are crossed on that last sale!). It also looks like Lil' Fella will be heading to a new home. It'll be good to see him get to hunting on a regular basis as he is nice pup with oodles of personality and a lot of desire to hunt. Gertie isn't showing much right now, so I'm still hoping she's carry some Rocky pups in her. I'll see everyone at Bluetick Days on May 19...

It's been a good news/bad news week here by the Lake. The good news is Gertie is getting fat with her Upson's Rocky pups! Scot Crandall reports getting awoke at 2:30 AM the other night by his Slew Foot x Crow pup barking at a coon reaching through the kennel door and stealing her Puppy Chow! Ten weeks old an already to go!

The bad news came from Pat Quaintance calling that his pup come from Fairchild's with a lame leg and that Mike's female (both out of Slew Foot x Crow) was hit and killed a couple days ago. I called ol' Seed to find out the story. The pups were running loose and went down by the boat launch on opening day of Walleye season. Mike forgot about the opening and before he realized the pups were out of the yard, she was run over by a **** tourist launching his boat. A couple other tourist that Mike knows who hunt hares on the Island had seen the pups and caught Pat's male up, but couldn't catch that gyp pup. They were yelling at the Citidiot tourist to stop backing up to the launch but they flat out ignore the yells and ran over the gyp. The good tourist took Pat's male up to Mike's house and told him what happened, Mike went down to the launch to retrieve the body and them **** troll tourist wouldn't come into the landing to talk with him... Chickens*** tourist! Mike then decided to put Pat's male up in a kennel to keep him safe, and the next morning the male was lame. Mike figures he caught his back leg in the wire and twisted some. Pat got the pup hauled to him by Heff today and called me with the news about the leg. Pat is taking the pup to the vet tomorrow to be checked out. We pray it's going to be alright with no breaks. Mike told me the pup didn't put up a squall or fuss when he was checking it over. Mike's sick about the whole ordeal. Hard to loss a nice pup to Citidiot tourist and then while trying to keep the other pup safe, it gets hurt...

We hope for the best for Pat and his pup... while we mourn the loss of Mike's little gyp...

It's good to hear Pat's pup is not seriously hurt and should recover just fine.

Had a nice time at Bluetick Days yesterday. Cam O'Mara road with me and we had a good time. It was Cam first time to such a big event. Phil Abel picked up his pup out of Slew Foot x Crow and I nearly had him on the hook to buy Lil' Fella, but he past. So Lil' Fella is still for sale. I want to thank Travis Duvall aka Big$Blues for hauling that other pup back to Oklahoma to Brandon Owens for me. Good luck to both Phil and Brandon with your pups!

Had a nice time seeing old Bluetick friends... Dennis Sheppard, Jay Williamson, Larry Welch, Newell Standridge, Robert Welch, Dave Landis, Matt Turner among others I might have forgotten a this time.

Dave Landis gave me a deposit for my next breed off Crow, which will happen next winter to ol' Ben once more time. I love the Crow x Ben pups that are no 13 m/o. I've gotten good reports out of everyone that went to hunter (one went as a pet). Lil' Fella and True Boy are here and will be hunted hard soon. The price on Lil' Fella will only go up now.

Congrats go out to BBOA and UKC on having such a successful and well attended event, as well to the host club!

Still waiting on Gertie to drop her Rocky pups. Should be tomorrow or Tuesday by my reckoning (which isn't too precise). If all goes well, this should be a nice litter for the biggame hunters out there, as well as us old cornfield cooners. I let everyone know and post pictures when the pups do come...

The pups finally arrived! This morning Gertie had 10 pups out of Larry Anderson's Upson's Rocky. Nine are still alive. Gertie is doing well with the pups at this time, so I hope they all make it. They are a real active bunch, full of life and fight...

I have four survivors at this time. I counted 3 males and one female. Cam counted 2 and 2, so I'll recheck them tonight. Got too hot Saturday before we could get a fan on them, so we lost 5 to heat stress... Same thing happened to me last summer when Gertie whelpped a big litter and I was in the hospital. I'm sure I have 2 males sold at this time. Not sure on the females (or the right count!).

Down to 3. Two females and one male. All are spoken for... Never had such a poor year whelping pups. Crow was 6/15, and now Gertie stands at 3/10... batting .360 and leading the Majors...
