Thanks everybody!!! We had a blast.
I can't not say anything about my riding partners, Dwayne "Bradshaw" Bradshaw and Curtis Todd. Ya'll are awesome. 2 of the best friends a man can have. Thanks for EVERYTHING.
We rode up to Dave and Nicki Oswald's Tuesday and pleasure hunted Dave's woods around Ithaca.MI. We went 6 for 6 and had a blast.
Wednesday we rode down through Dowling,MI and visited with Dave Dean for a little while, it was sure good to see him again. After our visit with Dave we continued south to Kerry Oswalt's in Montpelier,IN where Zeb Myers joined us. We hunted with Kerry Wednesday night and went 3 for 5.
Thursday night I hunted Panic in the Young Guns and she won her cast with 75. She looked great on the only coon we treed, split by herself then she made a couple of mistakes and went from 225+ down to 75+. I drew Mike Shepard, Jon Waltz and Brian McGee. We had a great cast.
Friday night I hunted Brummy and we won with 675. Brummy wasn't at the top of his game. He looked real good on a couple of coons and didn't look so good on a couple. I drew Travis Schulte and a young man hunting a Walker dog. We had another great cast. Travis is a stand up guy. The Tink female Travis was hunting is a nice dog and we only won by 50. I was happy to see those last few seconds tick off the clock!
Friday night Brummy won his cast with 675, Chief won his cast with 675 and John Godi won his cast with 675. None of us had any minus. When it got down to plus tree points Brummy had 325, Godi had 350 and Chief had 375. So we got beat out of placing by 25.
Saturday night we won our cast with 987.5. I drew a guy by the name of Bobby hunting a Black and Tan female named Sis, Roy Clifton hunting Robin and Sparky McClellen hunting Star. All 3 of these men are class acts, we had a good cast.
Brummy did what he's supposed to do and when the dust settled he won the cast. I've never treed coons like we did Saturday night. We were getting struck QUICK and getting treed QUICK. Some were close and some were pretty long tracks that they smoked. We had 6 minutes left in the cast and I thought there is no way we tree another one. We cut and they strike hot off the leash, drive a hot track hard right handed and with 27 seconds left in the hunt Brummy loads up and trees. It was exciting.
This was by far the funnest weekend hunt I've ever been to. The winning was awesome but the quality of people and dogs we drew was refreshing. There was a couple of times a call was made that everybody didn't agree on but we didn't argue or fuss about it. We voted on it and then forgot about it. I was impressed with all the men I drew.
It was great getting to see folks I haven't seen in a few years and meeting new folks. Just a really fun weekend all around.
HUGE Thanks to the Killabuck club, ya'll have an awesome place and awesome hunting.
