Cotton

Thanks guys. She definitely deserves to be GrNtCh. She should’ve already been finished. Just glad that my friend Terry Tibbs allowed me to bring her back home and partner on her. She is a nice gyp.

HUNT

I didn't get to hunt last night. I had a radiator leak on my ole Ranger and it turned into a pretty good job. Got it fixed and ran some radiator flush thru and also cleaned the heater core. She is purring like a kitten now so I will hit the woods tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. First drop I cut Goose and Dolly. Dolly went left and Goose headed up a hardwood hollow. Dolly struck in and it started raining and rained on me the rest of the night!! Goose was getting deep and I had not heard him open. I moved around a logging road and Goose was .75 and I couldn't hear anything because of the rain. Dolly came out to the truck and I loaded her up. I started walking towards Goose's location but he was steady going the other direction. I lost communication with him at 1.09 miles. I decided to see if I could pick him back up on a different road and drove around. I did not pick him up so I walked up a hunting road. Still couldn't hear him or communicate with him. I pulled around to a large hill and the rain had let up a little. I heard my garmin beep and I picked him back up at .95. I pulled over and I could barely hear him treed. He was in no man's land. I pulled around to a hunting road and started towards him. The road turned the wrong way so I just hit the woods. I got in some rough stuff and about the time I thought I had it whipped, I came upon a large bluff. I had to pick my way down the slippery bluff and climb up the other side. I was pretty sketchy in the rain. I got to the other side and finally got to Goose who had been treed close to 2 hours by now. He was up a huge Cedar tree and it was pouring rain so I didn't even bother to look the tree over a couple of minutes. I decided to take a different route out and just hit the road and walk to the truck. I got through the rough stuff and hit an old logging road. I was able to follow it out most of the way and finally got to the truck wet and tired. It was 11:30 and I called it a night. Gotta be crazy to do this coonhunting stuff!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin Up!1

HUNT

I drove 3 hours to Lincoln Saturday night and drove another hour to hunt. Cotton looked about as bad as I have seen her look. I didn't do any good in the hunt and she done things that she normally doesn't do. She gets alone most of the time but decided she wanted to back dogs Saturday. I have seen her do this just before she comes in heat so I am sure she will be in soon. Gone keep on hammering on these potlickers. Y'all Keep'em Lookin Up!!

HUNT

I sure was happy to hit the woods again last night. I love Christmas and the family time but I sure was looking forward to hearing ole Blue last night. I got my Flip puppy back from Terry Tibbs and got his Rogue pup back to him. First drop I decided to just hunt the pups. I cut Vapor and Flip loose towards a feeder. Both pups hunted good and Vapor soon struck a track but it wasn't very good. Flip opened with him but both were only opening here and there. I walked out to put corn in the feeder and seen a coon sitting up but looked like he had been up awhile. Vapor tried to tree but just wasn't sure so I finally walked in and caught him up. Flip came to me and I headed to the truck. I cut both pups again on up the bottom and Vapor struck a better track and Flip opened up around a feeder. Flip located and went on a tree. I started to him and got within 30 yds and could see him on a tree. He got down and moved on up the bottom before I could get to him. I shined the tree and there was a coon there. Vapor soon loaded up treed about 250 yds in a swampy area. I got to his tree and it had a large nest in it but I didn't see a coon. I moved down and caught Flip and moved. Next drop I cut Goose and Cotton in some hardwood hills that get hunted pretty hard. Cotton struck and went left and I checked the Garmin and Goose was 275 yds the other way down a small branch. I heard Goose open a few times and he was steadily skipping out. Cotton was working a track across the ridge and Goose had been quiet for a while. The wind was really blowing hard and I was walking to stay between the dogs. I heard Goose locate and load up treed. I made my way to him and he was in a big hollow. I saw eyes on my way in to him. I got to his tree but the coon was 2 trees over and Goose was treeing with his head thrown in the air winding. He knew the coon was there but couldn't locate the exact tree. I leashed him up and headed to the truck. Cotton soon located and treed but just didn't sound like herself. I got to her and she was on a den but didn't tree right at all. She had really not been herself for the last week. She is due in heat and she gets really stupid about the time she comes in heat. We are supposed to have rain for the next 3 days so hopefully I can hit the woods a couple more nights this week. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Thanks Mr. Jack. Happy New Year to everyone!!

I haven't been on here in a few days as the holidays make the soft drink business crazy and I have been roped into coaching 10 under girls basketball LOL!!!

I have got to hit the woods a few times and look forward to enjoying a couple nights of hunting this weekend. I hunted Goose in the first hunt I have put him in and he didn't operate like I know he can. I need to hunt him with a few strange dogs pleasure hunting. He did get deep and alone on the last drop but it was a little too late. Gone just stay on em !! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I had planned on hunting Friday night with a buddy of mine that hasn't been with me in a long time but the rain and wind was really kicking up here. I decided to go Saturday night for a while. I got a late start. Cotton is starting to drip blood so she will be out for a little while. She will be getting bred to Floyd when she gets ready. First drop I cut Dolly and Vapor down a hardwood hollow. I had to hunt the hills as my bottom hunting is under water at the moment. Dolly struck and started a track and Vapor opened right after her. They worked the track up a small branch and Dolly soon loaded up at about 450yds. Vapor did not tree with her and soon crossed a logging road and kept working a track. I made my way to Dolly and she was up a large oak tree but it was slick. I loaded her up and Vapor turned left down another big hollow and soon loaded up about 500yds across the logging road. I headed to him and he was up a huge beech tree that had holes all in it. The den tree was heavily used and the coon was not on the outside but could've been in the den. Next drop I cut Goose and Flip up a branch that leads into the hills. Goose circled out and hit the bottom that is flooded. He soon opened about 475yds in the bottom. Flip was in a small section of hardwoods about 100yds from the truck but I saw him head towards Goose on the garmin. Goose soon loaded up treed and I drove down and oil well road and got within 250yds of him. I waded knee deep water and mud almost all the way to him. He was treed in about 6inches of water on the edge of the hills. I found his coon pretty quick and petted him up good. Flip located and treed about 30 yds to the left and I went to him. I didn't see a coon in his tree and he just missed it. Next drop I cut Vapor and Flip down a hardwood hollow. Flip struck a hot track and headed down a branch running pretty good. Vapor opened to the right up on a ridge and started a decent track. Vapor worked his track up the ridge and hit a hardwood flat and loaded up treed. I got to him and he had 2 coons up his tree. I rolled one out to him and headed to the truck. Flip was 675yds down the branch and had hit a large pine thicket. I drove around the hunting road and got within 450yds. Flip was locating and treeing so I headed out to him. I got within 100yds of him and he hushed. I pulled out the garmin and he was headed back on the track. He stopped and headed back to the tree and located and loaded back up. I got to him and he was up a large spruce tree growing up into a big pine tree. I never could get the coon to look. I called it a night and headed home. I will stay in tonight and watch the Crimson Tide play for the national championship and hit the woods tomorrow night. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up !!

Hey Mickey I got you down. I don't really know what will be available. Terry and I have talked about keeping most of the litter between ourselves but there should be a few available.

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night for a little while. First drop I cut Goose and a pup I call Snow out of Bocephus and a gyp out of Cottons sister and NtCh Big time Albert II. Goose left hard and Snow went with him but I soon heard her start opening behind him. She hushed and came out to the truck. Goose struck and started drifting out on a track. He finally loaded up treed at about 600yds. I started to him and I found out why snow didn't go with Goose. The bottom was still flooded out pretty bad. I had to pick my way around to keep from getting wet but finally got to Goose. He was standing in water treeing. I looked his tree but didn't find his coon and think he just missed it in all that water. Next drop I cut Vapor alone. He has treed several coons on feeders and has been split with a coon several times. He is 13mths old and I like what I see out of him so far. I cut him down a hardwood hollow and I love how he leaves out to go hunting. He leaves as hard as he can go in a dead run. He hunted out about 400yds and circled back in to a logging road and followed it up to the truck. I leashed him up and walked over to another hollow and cut him again. He hunted out about 475 down the hollow and came back in to the truck. I like a dog with no reverse but I was not disappointed in him as I think he will be a hard deep hunter with more alone time. I decided to cut Vapor again in a small swamp bottom. He left like he tail was on fire and struck at 200 yds. It was not a good track for him and there was still a lot of water in the bottom there too. I wanted to see how he would handle the water. He moved the track out really good for about 300yds and soon located and went on a tree but checked and moved on to the creek. The creek is usually only 12-24 inches deep but it was over my boots in most places. I was pleased to see Vapor swim the creek at least 3 times without hesitation. He just couldn't put the tree on this track but I liked his determination to put an end to it. I finally caught him up and called it a night. I didn't see a coon tonight but I really enjoyed putting Vapor in some situations to challenge him more. I can see tons of potential in him to be my kind of hound. Time will tell how he continues to develop. I will hit the woods again tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. First drop I cut Vapor alone. He left out hard and struck at about 225yds. It wasn't a good track and he was opening here and there but was moving the track decent. He crossed the creek and soon loaded up treed. He didn't light up the tree but stayed treed. He was on a den tree and I didn't see a coon. Next drop I cut flip alone. He struck at about 150yds and seemed to be a decent track. He worked his track for about 200yds and loaded up treed. He treed the best I have heard him tree. I got to him and he treed up a evergreen hedge that ran into a bunch more hedges. I couldn't find his coon and think he missed it but he sure thought it was there. Next drop I cut Goose alone. He left hard and soon was over 700yds. I drove around to an oil well pad and he was opening here and there coming up a small branch. I soon heard him load up treed. I made my way to him and he was up a big pine tree that was surrounded by several big pines in a thicket. I couldn't find the coon and headed to the truck. Next drop I cut Goose and my Snow pup in a swamp bottom. There was still a lot of water in the bottom. Snow hunted good with Goose and stayed in there with all the water. Goose went 275yds and fell treed. I got to him and he had the meat up a large tree. I rolled it out to him and Snow and called it a night. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I hunted by myself in the rain Saturday night. First drop I cut my Flip pup alone in a swamp bottom. He left out good but after about 30 yds turned and came back to me. After some sweet, kind words of encouragement he decided to go on hunting. He struck a track at about 125 yds but he was struggling to move it out. I walked in to observe him and found out why he was struggling. The bottom was flooded out and there was a lot of water in there. Flip located on a few trees but didn't stick and I finally walked in and caught him up. I moved on down the bottom and cut Vapor alone. He left hard and made a hard left. He opened at about 275yds and started a track. He was struggling a little as well with all the water in the bottom. It was still raining off and on as I was hunting. Vapor soon drifted out some and soon had the track going pretty good. I heard him load up treed at about 500yds. I was able to walk around the edge of an old field and stay out of a lot of the water. I got within 75 yds of Vapor and I heard him hush. He was quiet for about a minute and located again and went back on the tree. I got to him and he was up a huge bay tree with leaves. I backed up and found his coon pretty quick. I was pretty impressed with him to get this coon treed with all the water in the bottom. Next drop I cut Goose and Snow in some hardwood hills. They left hard and snow went with Goose for about 300yds and soon came back in to the truck. Goose went over 900yds and I lost him on the Garmin several times. I moved around a gravel road and soon heard him treed. I got with 150yds of him and headed to the tree. He had the meat but it was the wrong flavor. He had a fat possum. I left some whelps on his hide and loaded him up. I moved and cut Vapor and Flip in a nice hardwood flat that runs along a big creek. Both dogs hunted good but could not get anything going at all. Flip finally came in and Vapor had blown thru the section and was 700yds going up an old slough run. I walked in and got pretty close but he didn't want to come in and kept slipping away from me. He finally circled back out towards where I cut him loose and I caught him coming up the creek. Coons didn't seem to stir here well as it was pretty much raining off and on the entire night. I will hit it again tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!1

HUNT

I hunted by myself last night. I did not have a good hunt. First drop I cut Vapor alone in a swamp bottom. He left hard and struck at about 150yds. He worked a track in a lot of water and soon loaded up treed at about 400yds. I saw a coon sitting up on the way to him. He did not have a coon. It was a slick tree. This is the first time I have went to him alone and he didn't have a coon. I did see a coon sitting about 20yds on past his tree. I pulled him off and sent him on towards the coon but he kept coming back to the tree. I loaded him up and moved on down the bottom and cut Flip alone. Flip had begun to hunt a lot better by himself. He struck a bad track and moved in the bottom about 250yds but soon seemed to hang up on a creek. He got quiet for a bit and skipped out and struck what I thought was a good track. I was a little too good as he left in a hurry. I think he ran a deer. I drove around and cut him off crossing a gravel road. Next drop I cut Goose and Belle in a hardwood hollow. Goose opened at about 150yds and skipped out and fell treed. Belle backed him and I headed to the tree. They were up a huge tree that ran into a pine tree and I didn't see a coon. I cut both dogs again and Goose headed down a branch and Belle went towards the truck and hit the gravel road. She ran the road for a long ways and I had to pull around and get her. Goose was treed when I came back and was on a den tree. I decided to cut Vapor and Flip on a feeder that I had out but they did not strike and ended up 975 yds in a swamp bottom. They were trailing when I pulled around within 300yds of them. They were in a rough bottom with a lot of water and mud. Vapor finally loaded up treed and Flip soon split treed to the left. I waded cutover for 200yds and then waded mud and water for another 150yds to get to Vapor. I leashed him up and went on to Flip. Flip was up a large tree with a big nest and I couldn't get the coon to look . I headed back to Vapor and he was on a large den tree. I made my way to the truck and called it a night. It sure wasn't the best night and was a little frustrating. I did like the way both of the young dogs hunted. Vapor has a big motor and not much reverse. He leaves out as fast as he can run and is ranging out further each time I hunt him. Flip has turned the corner and is more focused when I cut him loose. Both have treed their own coon but are far from coon dogs. I'm just going to stay on them and see how they progress. The past couple of hunts I have been on weren't the best. Coons haven't stirred too well at my hunting spots. Dogs have covered a lot of ground and can't get after much of a track. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I hunted for a while Saturday night. It was a rough night. My nephew that used to hunt with me when he was a kid has moved back from Georgia and came over to hunt with me. The wind was really blowing hard and it was spitting a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow. We cut Vapor and Flip loose together on the first drop. Vapor went to the left and hit a small branch and Flip went down the hollow. The wind was really blowing and Vapor had gotten about 450yds deep with Flip at about 300yds. We walked down an old road to try to hear the dogs and both were opening some. We could hear Vapor locating but he would never roll it over and then get quiet. Flip had made his way to Vapor and was opening on the ground in the same area. We headed on in to the dogs and I lost communication with Vapor. Flip came close and we caught him up. We could hear Vapor but sounded muffled. We finally located him barking under a bluff. It took us a little while but we finally coaxed him out and caught him up. Next drop we cut Goose alone in another hollow. He left out and soon he was over 850yds. We drove around an old road and got within 300yds and could hear him treed in a huge hollow. We made our way to him and he had the meat. We rolled it out to him and headed to the truck. We cut Vapor and Flip again up a hollow. Flip didn't hunt as well and we loaded him up. Vapor covered a lot of ground and never got struck. We drove around and caught him up and called it a night. I will hit the woods tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' up!!

HUNT

I hunted for a while last night. My nephew and Drake decided to go. First drop we cut Vapor and Dolly loose in a swamp bottom. Dolly struck followed by Vapor. They ran a track about 150yds and loaded up about the same time. We made our way to the tree and I finally found the coon. We petted them up and moved up the bottom. We cut Goose and Snow in the bottom. Goose left hard and soon opened at 875yds. Snow was opening to the left at 450yds but I'm sure she was barking on the water as the bottom is flooded out pretty good. Goose soon loaded up treed at 8/10's of a mile. We drove around a gravel road and he was 250yds across the road up a small creek. We got to him and he was up a huge den tree. We moved around and called Snow out to the truck. Last drop we cut Vapor and Snow into a small bottom where I have a feeder. They didn't strike anything on the feeder and Vapor soon opened about 400yds in the bottom. He was opening here and there and moving deeper. He located a couple of times but checked and moved on towards the creek. He soon made a turn and headed close to the landowners house and his house dog was raising sand so we walked in and caught them up and called it a night. I will be glad when this full moon is gone. It looked like daylight outside last night. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' up!!
