HUNT

I decided to take off last night and get some rest. I didn't sleep at all Saturday night and got in bed at about 1:00 am on Monday night. Have to get up for work at 5:30 am so I just cleaned kennels, fed the dogs and gave all of them a good look over. Getting old and lazy I guess LOL!! I am going to hit the woods tonight and see if we can get one up a bush. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!

HUNT

Jenna Kay, Drake and Myself hunted last night. It was not a good night. We loaded Goose and Dolly together and Cotton and Nails together. First drop we cut Cotton and Nails. We cut them up a small branch running between two grown up fields. I have usually struck coons here. The moon was shining bright. Cotton finally struck at about 450yds and started working a bad track coming towards us. That was pretty much the action for the night. They ended up working thru a couple different cutovers and were coming down a ditch towards the road. There is a huge cutover on the other side and we just caught them up as it was already almost 11:00. We called it a night and didn't get to cut Dolly or Goose. I will hunt them tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!

HUNT

Drake got married this weekend so my hunting has been slow. We had rehearsal and the dinner Friday night and the wedding on Saturday night. We had rain and thunderstorms Monday night so I finally got to hit the woods last night. It didn't start out to well and went from bad to worse!! I had a hunt set up with my buddy Kyle and his NtCh black and tan male. I loaded up and headed to meet him and my little ford ranger that I hunt out of wasn't running right. It was missing bad then clear up and start missing again. I was headed to meet Kyle and my truck just died going down the road. I finally got it to crank back and went just a little ways and it quit again. I turned around and was going to try to make it home and it quit a couple more times but finally straightened out. I decided to park it in town and ride with Kyle. We finally got to cut loose at about 9:30. I had Cotton and Goose and Kyle had Moose and a pup. We had planned to cut my two loose first and his two next but we had got a late start so we cut all dogs loose. Goose and Moose were having a pissing contest to see who could pee on the most bushes and Cotton had left out and headed down the creek. The 2 males finally got hunting on their mind and headed that way as well. Cotton soon struck in a cutover about 450 yds in and started a good track. Goose and Moose put in with her and they were working in some bad stuff. They had sort of split up and I think they were working a sow and some young ones in the blackberries. Moose located and checked but didn't stay. Dogs ended up getting close to each other again and Cotton gave me a half hearted locate. She checked and moved on as well. Goose had split completely away from Moose and Cotton and was headed our way as well. Moose hit up on another tree and Kyle thought he was going to stick but moved on again. Cotton picked up the pace and soon she was screaming and throwing some chops in on track so I knew she was lining him out. She soon exploded on a tree and Goose had made his way close and loaded up with her as well. Moose don't like to back but he soon gave in and backed her too. We waded cutover and got into some nice hardwood and I soon spotted the coon. We rolled it out to them and headed to the truck. We got to the truck and Kyles pup had came in to the truck. We laid a drag and hang up for her and she did a good job on it. The road heading out of the area we were hunting in was rough and we were about 5 miles in the middle of nowhere. We started out in Kyle Toyota Tundra and hit one of those ruts and spun out. Kyle locked in the 4x4 and we started up the hill and we hear a loud POP!! His hub had busted and parts were on the ground. We tried several times and just could not get out in 2 wheel drive. It is about 12:30am by this time and we started trying to figure out who could give us a tow up that hill. We finally got a guy on his way but he got lost coming in there a couple times. Kyle finally talked him in to us at about 1:30 am. He pulled us up the hill and we finally headed back to my truck. I got to my truck and headed home but halfway home it quit on me. I finally got it running and limped it to the house at about 2:45 am. I put up dogs and showered and hit the bed at about 3:30. Got up at 5:30 and came to work!! Coon hunters are mentally unstable!! I may not get to go tonight but I'll be back in the woods Thursday night!!!!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Jenna Kay and I hunted last night for a little while. We cut Cotton and Goose into a cutover full of blackberries. They made their way through the cutover and into the bottom. Goose went right and fell treed on a big den tree. We got to him and I heard Cotton strike deep in the bottom to the left. We made our way to the truck and pulled down the road to get closer to Cotton. She had gotten into some really bad stuff. She was in a rough swamp with a lot of deep water. She finally made her way out of the swamp and back into some better timber. She worked down a small branch and started coming towards us. She got within 75yds of the gravel road and loaded up treed. Jenna Kay and I made our way to her and she was up a huge water oak. I could only see one side as the canopy was so thick in the bottom. I never could get him to look. We called it a night and headed home. I will take off tonight and hit it again tomorrow night. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Hunting was a little slow for me last week. I had to run a drink route yesterday because we are short handed. Between work and this crazy weather we are having I didn't get to hunt but 2 nights last week. I had dogs loaded and was headed hunting Saturday night and a thunderstorm blew up out of nowhere and sidelined us. I'm looking forward to hitting the woods tonight. It had been so hot and humid here it is rough on dogs and hunters alike. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

hunt

Drake , Jenna Kay and myself hunted last night for a little while. First drop we cut Goose and Dolly in a hardwood bottom that is bordered but cutover. Dogs circled out and went the wrong way. Dolly struck a bad track and hit some rough stuff. Goose circled out and hit a logging road. Goose was headed towards a paved road so I drove around and caught him up. Dolly ended up right by a house and came close to the gravel road so we caught her up. Next drop we cut Cotton and Nails. They struck a track and ended up heading down the creek. It wasn't a very good track either and Cotton hushed and skipped out and finally treed. She was on a big clump of trees on the creek bank but we couldn't find the coon. I'm not sure he was at home. We will try again!! I guess if all hunts were great, everyone would coonhunt!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Drake, Jenna Kay and I hunted last night and had another sorry night. We can't seem to even get after a track lately, must less a decent track. First drop we cut Dolly and Goose in a bottom that has a grown up field running adjacent to it. There are still some blackberries hanging and I figured coons would be hitting what is left. Dogs hunted out about 500yds and Dolly checked back in and I loaded her up. Goose was 700yds across the bottom but had not said a word. We left him working and moved about 500 yds around the field and cut Cotton and Nails loose in the same bottom. Nails struck on something but Cotton never said a word. Nails finally decided it wasn't right and quit and headed Cotton's direction. Cotton made her way around the edge of the bottom and struck a track but it wasn't very good. She was opening here and there. Goose had made his way almost all the way across the bottom but had not struck. Cotton located and settled in so we headed to her. Nails came in a backed her. She was on a huge oak that ran into several other trees and we didn't find her coon. We drove around down an old logging road and got within 75yds of him. He ended up coming out on the road and we caught him up and called it a night. I've got a few corn patches lined up and will be glad when these blackberries are gone. These ole hounds have been hunting out hard and putting in the effort but the last few hunts have been challenging! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

I planned to hunt Monday night but we had some pretty good thunderstorms that blew in at dark so I had to sit it out. It was raining last night but I decided to go anyway. Jenna kay went with me and we cut Goose , Cotton and my pup I call Flip out of Cotton and GrNtCh Runnin Bud loose in a small corn patch. Cotton struck straight in behind the patch in the bottom and Goose had went left and hit a small branch. Cotton worked her way down the bottom on a decent track and Goose had not opened but was headed left on the branch. Flip hung in there a little while but ended up coming out to us but hunted some on his own. I liked how he acted in the woods. Terry Tibbs has 2 littermates that are treeing hot coons now at 7 months old. Goose soon located and loaded up treed so we headed to him. He was on the side of the branch up a large tree that grew into 2 other large trees. I couldn't see the tree very well and we didn't find his coon. Cotton soon located about 350 yds down the bottom and we made our way to her. She was on a large water oak and I could not get to where I could see the tree much and it started raining pretty hard as well. We made our way to the truck and called it a night. Hopefully coons are about to start hitting some of the corn patches and we can get after some better tracks. Y'all keep'em Lookin' UP!!!

JULY HUNTING

July Hunting is about the sorriest hunting month we have Darren. Tracks are Sorry, If they can even find one. We have had the Bad Storms every evening and at night the past 3 weeks. I know for a fact we have had over 15" of rain in that time. Swamps are flooded and River stays up a little. Lighting bad with these storms to. Muscadine's be ready in a couple weeks and the Coon will get back in the Swamps and tracks and treeing will get better. Tell Drake Congrats on getting Married and to Stand Firm in Every Argument. Especially if its about Buying Another Dog! Lol! Take Care and Good Hunting.

HUNT

Steve you are sure right about the hunting down here right now. It is as sorry as it gets. I told gave Drake your congrats and your advice!!

Drake, Jenna Kay, and I hunted last night and it wasn't much better. First drop we cut Cotton, Nails, and my Flip pup in a small corn patch. Cotton took a left and hit a small creek. Nails hunted out the corn and hit a small road going into the bottom. He soon came out and we loaded Nails and Flip in the box. Cotton was 700yds down the creek and had not struck. We moved around to at gravel road and soon heard her open. She worked in a rough little bottom and soon loaded up treed. We made our way to her and she was up a large oak tree. I could only see a small portion of the tree and I could not find him. Next drop we cut Goose, Nails, and Flip down a hardwood hollow. Nails and Flip ended up coming out on the road and we caught them up. Goose made his way down the branch and we moved down and caught him. We were headed home and saw a coon in the edge of a pasture. We cut Nails and Flip on him and he went up a tree quickly. Nails treed him and we rolled him out to him and Flip. Flip isn't really interested yet and I think I'm going to stand him up til this weather cools off. We gone stay on them. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Drake and I hunted saturday night for a little while. It was hot and humid. I had caught a coon and we cut it loose across a field and waited a bit and cut his pup Nails loose on it. He treed it up a large pine tree and we rolled it out to him. Next drop we cut Cotton, Goose, and Nails into a small cornfield. Goose and Nails came around a small creek and tried to cross the road. We loaded them up and Cotton had went right up the bottom. She was 500yds so we pulled up closer and she was trailing up a creek. She soon loaded up and Drake found her coon. We moved and cut Cotton and Goose loose on a deer feeder. They struck in quick and ran a hot track down the ditch about 400 yds and Cotton soon started chopping and Goose was locating. We went on to them and as we got closer it was obvious that the coon had went in an underground spring. We gathered up the dogs and called it a night. Looking forward to some cooler weather. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!!

HUNT

It is a very busy time of the year for me at work as part of my job is calling on schools. I have been trying to get ready for them to open. Drake, Jenna Kay, and I hunted Wednesday night for a little while. We cut Cotton, Goose, and Nails loose on a buddy of mine's property. Dogs left hard and then silence. Cotton went right and soon was
6\10's of a mile. Goose had went left and was getting deep as well. We decided to move around and try to get closer. We got within about 400 yds of the dogs and Goose had struck on a creek and was working down the creek. Cotton had also struck up in the hills and Nails was with her. I soon heard Goose locate and load up treed. We made our way to him and he was treed on the creek bank up a poplar tree and I soon spotted his coon. I rolled it out to him. We loaded Goose up and I could hear Cotton and Nails treed up in the hills. We walked up a powerline and cut into them. Cotton was on a large tree that was covered with green muscadines and vines. I could only see a small area of the top of the tree because of the heavy canopy around it. I finally gave up and we just couldn't see her coon. We called it a night. We are headed on vacation this evening so me and the dogs will get a break next week. Drake said he may hunt a few nights, so we will see. Y'all Keep'em lookin' UP!!

HUNT

I was on vacation the week before last and last week was a blur trying to catch up!! I got to hunt a few nights but haven't had time to get on the board. Been treeing a few coons but they sure are hard to find. I hunted Saturday night by myself. First drop I cut Cotton and Goose down a field road leading to some hardwood hills that turn into a bottom. Goose went left and Cotton headed straight into the bottom. I lost Cotton on the Garmin for some reason at about 600yds. I could hear her trailing but couldn't really decide where she was located. Goose had gotten close to a gravel road so I picked him up. Cotton was treed when I got out of the truck so I lit out to her. She finally showed back up on the Garmin at 500yds. I got to her and she was treed about 75yds from my buddies shooting house. I could have drove almost to her lol. She was up a huge tree and I just couldn't get it to look. I moved and cut both again down luxapillila creek. Cotton struck red hot to the left and Goose headed down the creek. Cotton soon loaded up and I headed to her. She was on a huge den tree. I loaded her up and I could hear Goose treed. He was 475yds down the creek. I headed to him and he was treed in some rough stuff. He was up a huge tree and I could only see a small part of it. I didn't see his coon but he did a good job of treeing. I called it a night as I was soaked with sweat and it was getting late. Football has started and it will slow down my hunting a little for a couple of months. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!

HUNT

I have been getting to hunt some but haven't had much time to get on the forums. I handle all schools and athletic programs and with schools and football getting started it had been extremely busy the last few weeks. I also coach an 11-12 year old football team and we are getting wound up as well. Drake and I hunted Saturday night and did not have a good hunt. First drop we cut Goose and a new female loose that we call trouble. Goose opened a few times and Trouble opened deeper and left the country on us. She was after some of that speed beef. We gathered Goose up and moved to another section and cut Goose, Cotton, and Nails. Cotton struck a bad track and Nails was opening here and there with her. Goose headed the other way and got deep quick. Cotton got treed on a den and we got her and Nails and started driving around to get close to Goose. MY garmin went haywire and we finally went home around 2:45 am. I got Goose the next day and my garmin showed him 4 miles away and he was in the dog box??? I still haven't found Trouble and but left word with land owner that she was missing. Y'all Keep'em Lookin Up!!

HUNTING

I haven't had a lot of time to get on the board lately. Hopefully I have finally got all my schools started and football programs started and things are going to settle in a little bit. I am coaching a 11-12 yr old football team as well. I am really looking forward to getting wound back up in the woods. I am hunting a just enough to keep dogs from getting stale but Drake and I are looking forward to more woods time. Hope everyone is doing well and Keep'em Lookin' up!!

HUNT

I haven't been getting to hunt much with football in full swing. I did manage to hit the woods by myself Friday night. First drop I cut Cotton and a pup out of her and GrNtCh Blazin Bud into a rough little bottom. Cotton left hard and the pup I call Flip went with her. Flip soon checked back in to the truck. Cotton struck at about 450 yds and worked a track down a small branch. She soon loaded up treed and I made my way to her. She was on a large leafy tree and I could not get a good view of the tree. Next drop I cut Goose and Trouble down a hardwood hollow. Trouble is a 2 yr old that Trent Widner and I own together. We got her from Junior Watson. Junior had tried her on bear and she didn't work out. She is full of fire and goes hunting really good. She shows a lot of independence early on. She struck to the left and started a track that I don't think was a coon. Goose checked her and cut left and skipped out. I moved around and toned Trouble and she came in to the truck. Goose had gotten gone and I moved around and heard him treed solid. I got Flip and we made our way to him and he had the meat. I rolled it out to him and Flip. Last drop I cut trouble and cotton down the creek. Trouble struck and soon treed. I made my way to her and she was in a hollow tree that had fallen over. I got her out and loaded her up. Cotton was deep and trailing a bad track. She got treed on the creek and she was on a large den. I called it a night and look forward to hitting the woods again. Be glad for some cooler weather!!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' UP!!!
