Shannon, first you have to decide what you want and then train your dog to do that. Dogs are like husbands, you have to train them to do what you want. Listen to BB. He knows what he is doing.

The garmin has done alot for training. I still take a dog by theirself as soon as they start hunting. Less to distract them and also I can hear what they are doing. You can here dry leaves and sticks breaking a long ways on a quiet night. The Garmin makes it easier. I like a dog to hunt out 50 yards, left and right, then on out to 100 ect. ect. The perfect scenerio is after a couple to 300 they come back and check in. Now when I say check in, I dont mean quit hunting. If I dont catch em up, I want them to get deeper and continue hunting. This wont hurt you in a comp hunt as long as you are not struck in and they dont hang around you after they come back. It does give you the option of picking up and moving esp when pleasure ( used lightly ) hunting and you dont want them to go deep and keep you out late.

LOL, Smoke was good at it till about 5, then he lost his reverse. It has been cool all day, may make a run at it with him tonight. I always dread that first turn out after he has laid up all summer. In other words, I may be late in the morning

Is it Male or Female? You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female. Here are some examples...

FREEZER BAGS
They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.

PHOTOCOPIERS
These are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again.

They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.

TIRES
Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.

HOT AIR BALLOONS
Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.

SPONGES
These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.

WEB PAGES
Female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.

TRAINS
Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.

HOURGLASS
An hourglass is female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.

HAMMERS
Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.

THE REMOTE CONTROL
Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying...
