Sheba 11

screen capture tool

Took Sheba out for a run tonight, made 2 trees. The first one was a big oak. I'm pretty sure she had him, But I never could get him to look. The second one was a big Turkey Pine. I found him sitting in a fork about 2/3 of the way up. I was going to try to get him out to her, but there were 3 big limbs coming out there were he was and he would look out for a minute and then hide. there was a recess there that he could duck down into and I couldn't see him, and then he quit looking and I didn't see him anymore. I leashed up Sheba and we called it a night. It sure was hot out there tonight.

Magnum

Jack you right it is hard for a dog to do anything with horse flies biting them. I knew if anybody could get him on the right track it was you. June 3, 2018 just a couple days ago he was 6 months old. I sure like it when a pup starts looking up. His Sire started early and never looked back. He sure has changed since the last time I seen him he is getting bigger.

Sheba 11

photo uploading websites

Jeremy came by last night and we took Sheba out for a run. The first tree was a big oak tree right beside the river bank, but you couldn't get anywhere you could see anything. We turned her on down the river and she went in and just come treed. We walked in to her and she was treed in a bunch of big vines that went up into three different trees. Jeremy found the coon pretty quick up in a bunch of vines. he would just look every now and then. I was going to put this one out to her, but it lodged up there in those vines and we never could get it out.

I took Sheba out for a run again tonight. I turned her down an ole slough and she went in 200 yards and struck a cold track and went to work on it and moved it out of the slough and on in another 300 yards and locked up treed. I walked in to her and she was treed up a big hardwood. It was a hard tree to shine for the leaves and other trees. I went in and shook a vine and went back to looking and finally found one spot and there he was sitting right in the top looking at me with both eyes. He looked for a minute and I never did see him again. We left him to run again. Walked back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night.

Sheba 11

Went down river a few miles tonight. Cast Sheba into an oak and Cyprus bottom with a slough in the middle of it. she went in a little over 100 yards and struck a working track. There must have been more water in there than I thought, because I could hear her doing a lot of splashing. She worked it on around another 200 yards and treed. I went around to another field and she was about 50 yards in. I walked in to her and she was treed up a large hardwood tree with another one about the same size standing right beside it. I shined for a few minutes, but never could getto where I could see any of the tree. I cast Sheba on from there and she struck again about 400 yards. This one was a pretty good track and she was moving it goo down the slough. I decided I had better catch up. I thought she was farther down the slough than she was. When I stopped the 4-wheeler The slough that she was on was on my right and she had done crossed the woods road that I was on and was running on my left. She made a circle through some 20 year old planted pines and crossed the road again not far behind me. Now I'm sure a lot of you have done this before. When Sheba got to where I had either crossed that coons track or the coon had come towhere that 4-wheeler had run and turned and went back the way that I had come. I don't know what it did, but that was the end of the track for Sheba. She sure tried. She crossed thru there several times trying to pick the track up. I watched her on the garmin, she went back a couple of times and followed the track back to where she lost it, but never picked it up. I've done this a few times back thru the years. I don't know what that 4-wheeler does, but it completely covers the track. We moved on down the swamp and I cast her again. She went in 500 yards and struck a cold track. She moved it in a ways and crossed another slough and treed. I went around on another road and got within 100 yards of her and walked on in. She was on a big den tree. We walked back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night.

Congratulations Jeremy and Sheba 11

Jeremy came by yesterday evening and loaded up Sheba and traveled up to Mendenhall, Ms. to their UKC hunt. Jeremy drew a good cast of guys, Billy Joe hunting Hank a nice Black and Tan, Justin hunting his little Ellie female and Jeremy hunting Sheba. They had a good hunt with 3 coons seen. There was a couple of times that it could have went either way, But Jeremy and Sheba ended up winning the cast with 550+ points and high scoring dog of hunt. This gave Sheba her 2nd Nite Ch. win

Sheba, Sheba 11 and Blue

Chris came by tonight with Ole Sheba and Blue. We loaded up Sheba 11 and headed to the river. We just mostly went tonight to watch and listen to ole Sheba work and she did a good job, Although it had been a few months since she had been out. I took a picture of these two treed on the vine while Blue was treed on the main tree. There was more than one coon up the tree, so I guess one went up the vine and another one went up the tree. It was pretty warm out there tonight and we didn't want to get ole Sheba to hot so we called it a night. Its a shame the good ones has to get old. Sheba will be 10 on Dec. 2.

Mr Jack , you sure are right about them getting old in a hurry. Ole Sheba looks like she is still in good shape but that grey sure starts creeping up in their muzzle before you blink an eye. Hope all is well with you my friend!! Darren

👀👀😁

Jack looks like it didn’t take long to get him on the right track. And I no u had to get out in the heat and work hard. Now with that being said when he decide it’s to hot or to much water on the ground or it’s to cold to go hunting. Or he don’t have no one to go with it’s not the pup it’s the owner. I’ll just go over and push his pen down. Good luck Tobby hope u finish up with the honey due list.👍

Gin 111

Tommy and Chase this is Gin 111 (Case x Gin) at 4 months old. She has for the most part been running in her kennel since she arrived here at 6 weeks old. She has been well introduced to all the other animals here. the other dogs, chickens and cats and anything else that just happened by. Although she will probably never see a coon until she is around 7 months old. Today we will begin her journey into the coondog world. Today and over the next few days we will work on her leash training and then on into other catagories that all come togeather in a coondogs life. I sure do like the pup. The next time you see her on here she will be up on the side of a tree.

Blue and Sheba 11

Chris came by tonight and brought a good friend of mine with him. Mr. Stuart Walley from Columbia. I hadn't seen Stuart in quite a while. He and I hunted quite a bit togeather several years ago. I was glad to get back in the woods with him. He was once a real hard hunter until life and other obligations took him away from the sport. He seemed like he really enjoyed himself tonight. He said he sure wanted to go with us some more. I wouldn't be surprised if we had us another coonhunter around here before long. We turned blue and Sheba loose and they went in a ways, They struck and Sheba came treed pretty quick. Blue moved on in about 50 yards deeper and came treed. We walked in to them. Sheba was treed up a hugh hardwood tree. We found her coon pretty quick and walked on into Blue's tree. He was treed up a hugh Turkey Pine and with all the leaves on all the other trees around it we could not see anything. We moved on around to the river and cast them down the river. They went in aways and struck a good track and started moving it out. After about 50 yards Blue turned and came back to about where they had struck and started moving the track to the left. Sheba came back and struck in a little deeper than where Blue was, and started moving the track farther to the left. About that time Blue treed. Sheba moved her track on in another hundred yards and came back and treed with Blue. We walked in to themand they were treed up in some small trees with a lot of vines. We finally found the coon up in the vines. We left them to run again and called it a night. t sure was hot out there tonight.

Blue and Sheba 11

images upload

Chris came by with Blue last night and we loaded up Sheba 11 and traveled over across the river to one of Chris's places. We turned out in a corn field and they struck quick and split up as they usually do. Sheba went in and crossed the creek with her track Blue made a couple of circles in the cornfield and he headed for the creek. Now it was about as thick and rough around this cornfield and Creek as I have ever been in. Sheba had crossed the creek and went strait on in. I don't know what kind of terrain she was in, but it sounded rough and the track just played out on her. Blue had crossed the creek farther down and went down toward the bridge and treed. We went back around to the road and crossed the bridge and made our way in to him. That was some rough stuff in there. He was treed up a big pine and we couldn't see 15 feet up the tree. Sheba came in to us while we were there and we leashed them up and made our way back to the road. We went back to the cornfield and went around to the other side, hoping to get into where it was not so thick(didn't happen) We turned the dogs loose and they struck another hot track and split upagain. Sheba moved her track out of the corn field and hit the fence row and came up toward us aways and treed. When I say fence row, this was not your typical fence row. This was like a fence row through the worst briar patch and bushes that you have ever been in and the trees through there were big oaks that looked like a tornado had come thru there at some time and broke some of the limbs and some of the limbs had grown out low and extended out to the ground and some of the trees had blown down in all those briars. Yes it was that bad. We could see some of Sheba's tree from the field and we found 2 big coons sitting on a limb out on the other side and we were going to knock one of them out. Chris was doing the shooting and using his rifle. I don't know if the sights were of or what, but he never did hit one. He ran out of bullets and I called Sheba out to me. While we were doing all this Blue had run his coon in and crossed the Creek again and treed. Chris crossed the creek and fought his way in to him. He was treed up a big tree and Chris said it was so thick in there that you couldn't see anything. We made our way back to the road and called it a night.

Blue, Bell and Sheba 11

Chris and Jeremy came by tonight and we loaded up Blue (Smilin Bob and Sheba) Bell (Shadow and Gin) Sheba 11 (Bocephus and Sheba) and headed to the river. We turned them down a spring fed branch and they went in a ways and struck a good track They moved it down the branch about 400 yards and Bell locked up treed. Shortly after Bell treed Sheba locked up treed. Blue kept moving his track Deeper. We went to about 50 yards of Bell and Sheba, They were both on big trees about 25 yards apart. About the time we got there Blue treed about 300 yards deeper. We tried shinning, but it was so thick in there that you couldn't see anything. We leashed up Bell and Sheba and went back to the 4-wheelers and had to go back around to get close to Blue. We got around to another slough and Blue was treed out on what I call the island. We walked in to him and he was treed up a small tree that went up into a much bigger tree with a lot of vines. We tried shinning, but again Just too thick. It took us a while to get to him and he had done got hot. We walked back to the 4-wheeler and gave Blue some water and moved on around to the river. We turned the dogs loose again and struck another good track. Blue struck to the left and Bell and Sheba to the right. Blue made a circle back toward my deer plot and toward the river. Bell and Sheba went in about 100 yards and locked up treed. We walked into them and they were treed upa large hardwood and we found the coon pretty quick. We walked back to the 4-wheelers and about that time Blue treed. At least he kind of sounded like he was treed. We walked in to him and he was treed on the river bank. I have done this several times through the years. The river bluffs there are about 25 feet strait down and there are small vines that come up the river bluff that the coon will go down on and the dogs cant go, if they try it will be a nasty fall to the bottom. I told Chris to leash Blue quick before he decided to give it a try. We walked back to the 4-wheelers and called it a night.
