Robbie, just be thankful for the controversy. It has kept Sambo in the spotlight longer than just winning the UKC World Hunt would have. Most dog win it and are forgotten about the next month.

Richard, my guess is this is nothing but a hypothetical question to gauge the boards response! Public opinion should NOT dictate the outcome of this investigation and I do not see UKC being swayed by anything but what actually happened. Dave

Stuff like this and the cheating that does happen is why in October I gave up competition hunting. Numbers are down and I just see them dropping even more now..

Mr.Ratman there will always be some form of cheating in any type of sport or game. I started hunting in hunts when I was about 9 I see very little outright cheating. Most of the so called cheating I have seen was not cheating but rather lack of rules knowledge. I've seen a lot of people claim they were cheated when in fact they weren't cheated at all they just didn't know the rules, or the proper way to apply the rules. I'm not saying I've not seen outright cheating I have, but it is a very small percentage compared to the number of hunts I've been involved in. And if you quit because of cheating the cheaters win so it's not helping the situation.

I love to compete but why would you drive and waste money to get a judge that won't judge the freaking cast! Complete waste of time imo! If that's how they wanna run a hunt they can keep it.

Do not let cheaters stop you from hunting in the hunts! Learn the rules and use them when someone tries to cheat call their hand. Put a question mark on scorecard ( when you know that you are correct ) and let them argue with the MOH and/or file a complaint with UKC . Standing up and knowing the rules are the best way to stop those that cheat. Dave

Ya we know how that goes!! Very rarely does moh make the right call! Or at least that I've seen. No accountability. Ukc dropped the ball and should be ashamed of themselves. There is no doubt in my mind sambo is a down right coondog, that's not even a question. The problem I have is with the way ukc handles crap like this and is wishywashy depending on who is involved! Youth nationals is a great example. That bout made me puke! I know I'm a nobody and will never be a "SOMEBODY" in the coonhunting world hell I don't even have to worry bout having a hunting partner maybe it's this great personality, BUT Allen gave a speech at the beginning of the finals to the effect of it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a second to destroy it. Well guess what, ukc's reputation followed my 4:00 bowel movement down the crapper! Its over and done who freakin cares anymore anyway.

It already has.

The legitimacy of UKC major events has been questioned for years. More so recently IMO. This is just the nail in the coffin.

Hunts

Guys, is UKC the real blame for the problems being seen at these bigger hunts, or does the problem lie squarely on the shoulders of those that choose to cheat? Blaming UKC for cheaters, etc bad behavior of the participants is akin to those blaming gun manufactors for some loonies shooting people. Pretty harsh analogy, but true! Maybe not anyones intent but the principle is the same. We should all stand up and do our very best to stop cheating of any kind at all levels of competition (local club to world championship ) . DO NOT put the blame on those who only hold these hunts, but on those who aspire to win by any means as THEY are the real problem. IMO. Dave

Dave, none of this is about cheating, it is about taking 2 months to figure it out. When this one is all over and done with, the damage won't be from any cheating that may or may not have taken place. You can be sure of that!

What is it we really expect? This isnt a local hunt and someones 1st place registered win. It is beyond just simply making a decision, there is a lot of money on the line. I'm sure they know what they need to know but place yourselves in their shoes as a business. Take the title and get sued by the Sambo's owners. Dont take the title and if there is legit proof you get sued by the owners of the other dogs he beat. We can set around all day and act like we know how we would handle it but its not our business getting a black eye for simply trying to do whats right.

So, if someone spends thousands of dollars trying to win the World Hunt and wins the World Hunt. Them some crybaby gets their win pulled by manufacturing a story, you don't think they should try to recoup their money? 😂

Its not the thousands spent it the potential thousands to be made from stud fees and pups. However thats not the point. Its a business protecting themselves from potential lawsuits.

Jim Sizemore

Jim, my last post was directed at the posters blaming UKC for bad judges, guides, cheaters, moh's, etc. We should be accountable for policing our own ranks. UKC is not the ones providing the judges, guides, mohs at these hunts, please tell me how all the blame for such matters is placed on UKC? Dave
