Got a chance to go with a buddy tonight. Haven't been out for awhile due to all the rain and creeks and rivers being high. No sense in taking risks with a young dog. Not to mention the coon haven't been moving around here much and I don't need my young dog finding any game to run beside a coon. Well it started out real good. My 20 month old Leopard and his finished English struck together and ended up split 500 yds apart. Went to mine and he had a coon. My buddy shot it out and it hit the ground running. In a rush to catch up and finish it he ran head first into a broken branch and put a 2 1/2" cut on top of his head. It about knocked him out. After tending to him and trying to get him to let me go get his dog he decided we would both go to his dog. Got there and his had a coon. I shot it out to him and we headed home to get my buddy put back together. I myself had stitches in my head from a fallen branch this Spring, while coon hunting, so I know how he felt. I guess what I'm getting at is be careful out there guys and if you are by yourself make sure someone knows where you are hunting.

Winter is on its way!

We have still been treeing a few coon the last few nights! Going to go tonight and see if I can get a couple pictures of my Hook dog. I kinda stink at taking pictures but I will give it another try. I would think that the Ohio rut will start in my area around 10 to 14 days from now, as of yet we have not seen any signs of it. One of these days winter is going to hit so you all better get some more hunting in. Those that have not put any pictures up lets see some of your hounds doing what they love to do!

We had a decent hunt tonight even though it was very cold! Lol. My son put some videos on our kennel page if you'd like to check them out. Had one den tonight that the coon kept coming up and peeking out at us lol.. Here is a link..

We've had a lot of fun so far this season.I been trying to break my 7 month old pup off trash but man he is hard headed.Hardest hunting and most independent pup I've ever had. Most nights he would run trash 3-5 times a night.Ive been taking more videos than pics this season.Ill try to take a few pics when this weather breaks.Keep yourself and those hounds warm.

A few pictures from this season

I am not too good with the camera but some of these turned out ok. A few of my male Hook and one of his littermate sister Speck. I have had a very good second season with these two young hounds, they are now 20 months old. Oh how time flies!

The last picture is of Hank owned by a real good friend of mine Bill. Our dogs are from the same female but different sires. Bill and I will hunt together but drop the dogs seprate most of the time.

Rolled a boar out last night down my way Ron that was swelled up like a tick! Their movement has improved dramatically as well over the last week. Treed a double last week, the one we rolled out was a sow, but she was musky smelling!

The rut is kicking in gear in our neck of the woods.

Went out tonight for acouple of hours,,it was chilly out there tonight,,8 degree with windchill,,took my 4 yr old female and left my 17 month old at home,,too much can happen with a young dog on a cold full moon night,,we treed 2 on the outside and 1 den,,coon weren't moving very good,,,took my dog twice as long as normal to put the coon up!, so we called it a night,,now I'm just trying to unthaw,,lol,,happy hunting everyone,,and good luck.

Took mine out with 3 other dogs tonight. It was colder than penguin poop but we had a good hunt. All dogs treed coons. Turned loose three times and mine ran one underground, treed a single, then treed another single. Hunted from about 7:30- 10:00.
