Well I know most on here are walker guys etc but no matter what the breed this topic could be applied to. So, here it goes. I'm a Bluetick man andthe type of hound I like has often been referred to as an " old man " dog. Lol but I like a real houndy looking dog. Long ears, bigger than average, bawl mouth, and most importantly smart. My male dog weighs 95lbs etc and is smokey river / Utchman bred. I recently bought a Gyp that has nothing really recognizable in her pedigree, no titles etc. She's 95lbs, long ears, bawl mouth, & by far the loudest hound I have ever heard period. Both her & my male have cold noses but the Gyp has the colder nose of the 2. The Gyp is not a hard tree'n hound but rather just sits under the tree while tree'n. Any how I crossed them and the first litter is just now 6 weeks old. Time will tell if this cross is a good one or not. When making this cross I had the same intentions as what was stated in the first post on this topic. I think there is a happy medium between the old blood & the new.
