Thanks Stonehill, Several of us are just trying to get it back like it was in the 1980' and before. Are main thing is UKC competion coon hunting and water racing is good to keep dogs in shape and adds another dimension to our hounds for the ones that like that. We went from a flat broke club to climbing our way back. We have some great club members and associates. there are several good clubs around here.
were is this club at? me and my wife like water racing a lot. would like to find club a bit closer wit more races. Oh the kids realy seem to like the water races. one of the things thay can win at 9 years old and beat dad and grand pa.

Sorry, been away from the boards and on the road pursuing my other hobby (showing guinea pigs).
Stonehill, don't know if I'll make it down for the Mo state event. Looks like our females are coming in heat and we're planning to breed the one. I don't leave my girls alone from a week or so before due date until the pups are about 5 wks old, so I may be housebound during that event.
The other female is a better field trial dog than water race dog, so I doubt Tiny would haul her that far just for a water race. Is that pond fenced......or really really wide???

Hi, hope You had fun at the G.P. show ! We missed You here ! I understand about Cole Camp. Sometimes We just can't make them, especially if they are a long ways away. In case Your plans change or for future ref. do this :
go to page 2 of this thread
go to fifth post by S/S , it starts with pic. of redbone in water looking up at coon in what looks like a roll cage. This pic. is NOT Cole Camp ! All the other pics on this post ARE Cole Camp. In some You can see the pond.I hope this helps. She has two posts back to back so remember the next post is somewhere else. Keep in touch My Friend , CYa

I went in and posted where the photos were taken

calblu...

Of all the places we have been to water race, Cole Camp has to be one of the best, in my opinion...It's a large/wide pond, not a pit..I like the larger, wide, ponds better, again, my opinion...The pond is real wide and most dogs will just as soon swim the distance to the finish as to swim out to run the bank...The start box has more than enough holes, due to the heats being smaller now than what they where when the box was built. There is a boundary fence on either side of entering the water to help keep bank runners in line..There is also a fenced in area that starts at the finish line and encloses the treeing pole. Also, at the finish line, the dogs are exiting on a fairly level bottom, I am thinking it's like an old boat ramp, maybe..

It's an older set up, but it looks like there was quite a bit of thought put into it. It's very functional and there's not many mess ups. Seems I am starting to see several other ponds with this set up. I like it...

Bearman/Tiny is the other half of Chisum-Trail Kennel.

The blue dog in that video is NtCh GrCh WCh Jondle's Easy Creek Judge, HTX owned by Bob Jondle. I'm sure he could easily be GrWCh if Bob wanted to pursue that.

We'll be breeding our Casey dog to Judge, if everything goes as planned. She's about 4 days into heat right now and will be going to the vet for her brucellosis test on Monday. I'm excited! We haven't raised a litter since the one Judge was born into back in 2007.

Thank you, Sabrina! It helps a lot knowing where pics/videos are taken. And congrats on your new WCh!!!

Now.....you MO folks need to get some Field Trials going too. I like to enter both and will definitely drive about 8 hrs or so for both events.
A big thanks to the Plymouth WI club for having a FT & WR on Friday and Saturday at their May (I think?) event. Even though that pond is too narrow for my dog to stay in, it was still worth the 7 hr drive and motel room for 2 nights to get to FT her both days.
I think it would be nice if UKC didn't count 2 days of FTs & WRs against a club's 6 or 7 events per year. It really is a great money maker for clubs (and therefore UKC), if they're run right, and we all know there are a lot less clubs able to hold those events then clubs that hold BSs and NHs only.
I like to go to clubs that have FTs and WRs on either Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday!!!

Some pics and a story.

This is the pond at the Oroville/Honcut California club, where Tiny and I were officers until our move to IA last year:

I'm not finding any pics of the Morgan, Utah pond on my computer, but they have/had?? an awesome club that did a full (and I mean FULL) weekend of UKC events and open water races and field trials. I loved going to their events!!!
Went to I think Clints Wells, Arizona once too but I don't think I took any pics there. That was eons ago.

I cut my teeth on UKC Water Racing and Field Trialing in southern California (SoCal) in the early '90s. I may have a pic or two, but if I do they're in my photo albums which are still packed.

Here's Chester winning his first and only UKC Water Race at the Galt, California pond. This is the biggest/widest UKC pond I've ever seen anywhere! I can't estimate measurements, but maybe bearman can say roughly how big this pond is. It's BIG and it always has a current through it!

Chester passing under the line with his closest competition.

Chester getting line and tree.

The win pic! Chester, Tiny and Mike Finnigan. The only time Chester was ever in a Water Race.....on the day he was SOLD and picked up by his new owner, Mike.

Chester's story: Chester was from the litter we raised in 2004, a litter brother to our Mr. Big dog (Judge's dad). We sold him to a family in Oregon and he did well in Field Trials up there, but their Redbone hated him. We got him back but weren't able to have another male at the time, so we put him up for sale. He was purchased by a hunter in SoCal, Mike Finnigan, who drove up to this Water Race in NorCal to pick him up. We raced him and he won! Do we regret this sale? You bet!!! He went on to become an excellent bear dog.
We co-own one of our female pups with a friend in California who we are really hoping will breed her to Chester next year! She's an outstanding water race and field trial dog as well, but also owned by someone who doesn't do UKC events. Should make a nice cross!
