Nite Hunt Debut

I might make my personal night hunt debut this weekend with Edge. I'm at least entering him in the field trial, water race, and bench show. We'll see how it goes.

First Hunt

In my honest opinion, I did poor and the dog did very well. Might've had a real good chance at winning the cast if I would've kept my mouth shut on a couple things that I knew didn't sound quite right. Edge is turning out to be an excellent track dog. One of the drops he started off going the wrong direction, and the other 3 got on a coon. I was 4th strike, and ended up being 2nd tree, missing first tree only slightly. I took him out last night and he did very well, struck and treed all in about 2 minutes from being let loose. I was really tired from the previous night so I went home, however Edge still wanted to hunt bad. I think he was disappointed in me for teasing him with only one drop!!!

I let my girlfriend take the pics, they all turned out tremendously, but I don't want to overwhelm this post with Edge pics so here is only one...

Tucker

Is Tucker still breeding? My cousin has an old female he wants to get pups out of and he likes Edge alot. "Mandy" was entered in her first ever nite hunt the night before Easter at Wilton, WI and she got a 1st place win. Here is a pic of Mandy with Edge and Bill and myself.

Brandon, he has had a bit of a hard time lately, but stuck one a few months ago. At this point we will breed for free and hold papers to see if the female sticks. if she does then you would pay. if not, no loss. he is in new prague, mn now.

the last litter is about 2?months old now. they are out in Virginia/NC area. I dont know if any are available. I do know that there are one or two available that are about 10 months old. Randy Wallenkamp and I pickied one up from that litter at Walker days- didn't mean to buy anything, but this female just was so smart acting- they let her go for pup price- I couldn't turn it down. call wayne fields about these. Head down by Randy for a hunt one night and check the one out that we bought. He cant be too far from you- he is in Dodgeville.

Turned the old buggar loose tonight- looked good- took a track away from the others- treed like a three year old! Showed the meat. not bad for 13!

6-16-09 Hunt

Took Edge out last night. It was about 67 degrees and dry last night. Edge was silent for awhile when he caught this one on the ground. By the looks of things the coon managed to get up a fence post. Too bad the fence was hot too, I was wondering why Edge was a little hesitant to rip him off of there. LOL

That's why I have the camera case strapped to my belt light so I never forget it.... I'm just glad I could hold still, I only ran about 200 yards in my boots and chaps to get to him...

Put 35 points towards CH on Edge Saturday at Milton, WI. Finished the cast with 100+, it was a hard fought cast, could've went to any one of the dogs in my opinion.

On a more important note, I'm really starting to like what I'm seeing out of Edge, maybe his only faults is he's a little lacking as far as "hard tree dog" goes, but my opinions are different, as some ppl think that he is a hard tree dog.

I like that when I cut him loose he runs with his nose up and goes towards where the coon is. He doesn't just run until he hits a track, he hunts the timber that you put him in. I'm definetely looking forward to kill season....

Are these traits typical of the Credit River Tucker breeding?

Yes, these sound like typical Tucker traits. Some head up , some down, but usually drift towards a track pretty quick.

Maybe I should be looking for another Tucker dog then... It's the traits I like. Edge can work a track pretty quick too, sure is fun to hunt. I'm working Friday night, I work every Friday and Saturday unless I take off. If you guys are still out after 2 am, I'd give you a call, but I'm highly going to doubt that.... ha ha ha
