How many of your great dogs of the past started before one year old or even 6 months old? How many started after 2 years old and made a good hound? Just asking. Im training two females out of Top Gun. They are now 6 and 7 months old.

Mine started kinda early, first coon all alone at 6 months old, won his first UKC hunt at 10 months old, finished to Nite Ch. at 12 months old, won 2 nite ch. cast at Southern English days at 14 months old, made Gr.Nt. at 16 months old and won Friday Night Gr.Nt. Ch. at English Days at the same age. His name is Gr.Nite Ch. Bloody Creek Cannon Bawl.. not sure who makes crosses like his (GUN X LADY) but I wish they would make more like this....HA!

Josh, Every male here has been a gr nt at 2 years old for 9 generations but to answer your question I don't even mess with a 6 month old...When they are old enough and mature enough to keep up with the older ones then I'll start them slowly...I think way to much is being made of these 5-6 month old pups running and treeing....I've seen it but has no bearing on the end product in my opinion..............Thanks Larry
