Cory Mailes & his boys along with Jerrold Parker was over for a hunt. We started off quick with a coon treed. The hounds struggled at times and at other times made it happen quick. We ended up treeing 8 trees with coon seen, a few den trees, a couple slicks and ran one three quarters and caught it in the creek. Sure had a great time with some good fellas.

Steve and I hunted the last night of season. He had Penny and I took Irene and Cora. First dump 740 yds and caught one in the creek. Neither hound is a kill dog but had it about dead when we arrived. Treed three more trees with coon. Season ended with 247 trees with coon or caught on the ground. Hope everyone else had a good season. I sure didn't see other hunters all season. Would say less than 5 others all season.

That's a pretty good season Dennis for your boo ticks. I sure wish I had the dog power or coon population that you have. Lol I expect Irene to be grand night by the end of summer.

Jerrold Parker was down and Trey Melton & Bob Sherborn up from Oklahoma for a pleasure hunt. We treed a few den trees, a couple slick trees and 13 trees that we looked at coon. Bo will have a good home in Oklahoma. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him in the winners circle.

The corn is harvested and the soybeans are starting to drop leaves. The coon treeing is about to get good. Lots of coon to tree. Low fur prices and very few trappers & hunters will make for lots of good hunts.

Season here in Kansas opens 11/16/16 after the sun rises on that day. Running season closes 11/8/16. After laying around watching TV until 11 last night I decided to take the two broken down old gyps for a hunt. First turn out Irene falls treed 210 yds and Flo flew right past those coon. Flo was over a mile when I got Irene off the tree. Drove around a mile and a half and cut Irene. Flo was treed so I went and looked at her coon. Irene got treed 350 yds east of Flo. Irene had two coon. Both went in 430 yds and treed a coon. Next dump 270 yds and treed up a small tree running into a wooly mess hedge & no coon seen. Next dump 920 yds on a big oak. Irene got the tree on that one. Coon was moving around but didn't want to play. Last dump Flo falls treed at 680 yds with a coon. It was 1:30 and I headed in. It's fun when you tree 7 trees, with coon seen in 6 and drive the Rhino within 20 yds of every tree.

Jim Combs and Bill ? was up for a hunt tonight. We had some runners but managed to tree 3 put one in a barn and one in a dirt hole. Looked at 9 but 6 in the first tree.

Last night I went over to Duane Swoffords ranch and picked up Maggie. We took Boomer & Irene for a hunt. Treed 4 trees with coon. Boomer is one fine hound.

The wife enjoys naming my hounds and decided we needed a Maggie. She is sired bi Duane's Bo and from Jamie Reese Amy gyp. Amy is a Clyde x Gitter cross. Gitter is from Bogie. Making Bogie show up 3 times in the third generation. Hope she doesn't waistt all her energy chasing her tail.

Two fellas from Wyoming, James Osborne & Rick Kyle were down for a hunt. I belive we had 14 trees with 10 having coon and 4 big oaks we couldn't find one in. The hounds had coon treeing on their minds. I'm not sure rather Rick enjoyed the hot cornbread & beans the most or the hunt but he had a good time. I sure wish Maggie could have been in on some of the action. I left her in the pen. I like starting dogs alone or with a solid coondog.

The Mailes were up for a hunt tonight. Kevin had his gyp and Monty & Marty had their two young dogs, John & Mack out of Rattler x Flo. I took Irene & Maggie my new female pup. Cory was along to keep us honest. Treed 12 trees looking at coon in 11. Ran one hard for thirty minutes and caught it. That will make young dogs run to catch. We headed to the house at 12:15. That's a good hunt with boo ticks.

Had a nice dinner at church tonight. Wish pastor appreciation dinner would happen weekly. Then Mr Bob was giving me play by play on Busters first night in Tennessee. I left to go hunting at 11:30. Guess the coon had fed and were laid up. Irene treed the first two less than 100 yds and #3 690 yds but not a track bark on any of them. I had seen a coon in a persimmon tree earlier that had come down. She ran it over 400 yds to a den tree. Maggie just hung out with me and waited to hear Irene treed before leaving.

Cole was down for a hunt. Treed six trees all had a coon. Flo & Irene took turns getting treed first. Maggie found out that coon have teeth and it fired her up. She treed good when it took to anouther tree.

Phil Davis, Darrel Robinson, Trey Melton, Jimmy that come with Trey were up to get some pups and hunt. My buddy Cole also went along. Treed 7 trees with coon by 11 and the crew headed home. Cole and I grabbed Maggie and headed out for round two. Irene fell treed at 790 yds in a persimmon on the first deal then over 500 on the next. Maggie treed good on the first one that whipped her and she seen it climb.

Mailes family was up for a hunt. Didn't keep track of how many trees had coon. I know we had 7 around 9:30 and treed a few more. We always have a good time. I sure would have liked to have owned the John pup I gave to Monty. Just as glad he turnt a nice offer down. Good to see a young hunter enjoy a nice young hound. I guess when Maggie gets out of heat I'll attempt to make a coon catcher out of her.

Cole and I left around 6 and home at nine. Irene treed 4 trees with coon. Maggie was in heat a few days but I took her along. She treed good on a couple trees. Running season closes in a couple days and no hunting until the 16th.

Duane Swofford & Duane Brown were up for a hunt. The blue dogs treed 7 trees with coon and a couple big trees where they very well could have been a coon. They headed back to Arkansas at 11:00. Sure enjoyed hunting with some nice hounds.

Dang Mr Elbrader is your blue dogs treeing so many coon you have to take your boots & socks of to count that high? For season being open the last couple of nights your awful quite. Lol hope you have a good & safe season my friend.

Jerrold, Opening night was tough. Jerry Crain, Tom Jones, Steve Nading and I had an old timers hunt. We treed 6 coon I believe. A couple den trees, three or four circled trees or slick the old timers decided. We hunted until about one.

Last night Jim Comb & Brandon White was over. The wind was howling. I guess with the strong wind the coon couldn't hear the hounds and we're caught with their pants down. They caught 3 on the ground without running a track but a few seconds. We treed a couple den trees and again a couple slick trees. Guess we treed 4 up trees.

I know we have a good coon population and hunters are few. Some may doubt the story telling but we do tree a few. When the deer hunting is over I have some good spots to hunt the middle of December.

I was able to tree a few sick ones opening night and a few more last night as well. Sounds like you had a good hunt and better yet some good fellowship with the guys. Last night Josie & Cindy both struck the was probably around 600 yds apart and ran towards each other got treed 10yds apart at the same time and believe it or not both had Mr raccoon. I thought it was kinda neat can't say I've ever had that happen b4.
