Friday night we made a hunt in Tunica, La. In them bad Tunica hills. The first drop, we turned out next to the Mississippi river and treed in about 2 feet of water. Had a hard time keep the water out the chaps, so after that, we got out of the flat land and headed for the hills. The second drop, we sent Case and Blueduck up a creek bottom, between two huge ridges. They struck at about 500 yards and was trailing away from us, so we rode around to get closer. They were having a hard time with the track. Case was working it up on the side of the ridge and Blueduck working down in the bottom. They had gotten separated by the time Case had lined out the track headed up and over the east hill side. Case was really getting deep, so Rhett and Terry went around to get closer, and left me catch Blueduck. I heard Case locating way off in the distance, as I was headed down into the bottom to catch Blueduck(the first time). Finally put my hands on him, after the third time going down in there. By the time I climbed out of there, Rhett and Tree were headed back my way. We took a few pictures and called it a night.

This is a short video of Drifter, our Zero puppy. I showed him a coon 1 ½ months ago, but he just wasn’t ready. I think I need to get another cage coon now. He sure has a good mouth, and looks like he is going to be a big dog too. Rhett laid a trail with the hide, but he was too busy playing to mess with it.

Yesterday, I picked up Clint McDaniel and headed to Meadville Ms to the Slam event. Clint had Dan and I had Merle. Clint finished Dan to Grand with a second place win. Merle won his cast, paid off as a first toward nitech. He also finished to show champion. Sleepy was there and put another win on Redstick Ann. One more Sleepy, one more.

Thanks Mr Jack. It was pretty nice to see 3 Blueticks win 3 out of 4 cast. Last night didn't turn out so well for Merle. We went out backwards. Backing dogs on slick trees has got to stop.

Tommy, that's what happened at Ovett. I think they had 20 dogs entered. There were only 3 dogs that placed and all were blueticks. Nite Ch., 1st and 2nd place. All were blueticks. Congrats again on your wins Tommy.

This is a short video of Claude Smith’s puppy, Dixie. Dixie is a litter mate to Blueduck, Outlaw, and Hope. I had posted some pictures and video of her when she was 5 months old. Marty Freeman just started hunting her for Claude last week. She sure has a huge mouth.

Clara had her puppies last night. Rhett,s lives close to the Amite river, and the water is coming up fast. The dog pins will be flooded in a day or two. I sure hate to move Clara and her pup but we have no choice.

How High is The Water PaPa? 11 foot high and rising!!!


It should crest around 11.5 sometime this evening. Record high was 14.6
Had to tie off Clara's pen to keep it from floating off.

I am praying for yaw Tommy. I know all to well what yaw going through. Hope it goes down soon and yaw can get your life's back to normal. It's a pain sometimes living on the river but I wouldn't rather live anywhere else. Hope all is good with the pups and Clara, Take Care.

We had the youth turkey hunt at Tunica WMA today. I think 10 kids showed up for the hunt this morning. This is my favorite hunt of the year, but today wasn't very good for turkey hunting with all the wind. Only one turkey was killed, and only two were heard.

At 7:30 this morning, I got a text from my buddy Terry, thats the fellow I gave Gus to. He wanted to tell me Gus won 1st place last night at Amite's UKC hunt last night. That was Terry,s second comp. hunt.
