Just got in from what was one of my most memorable hunts. Had 4 dogs, 2 seasoned, 1 2yo and a pup 11 months old. It was one of the best displays of dog work I've ever seen. Started off the night with a hot rig, put my older male down to make sure it wasn't trash and sent the rest with him 200 yds later treed with a den. Next went and dropped em, they all worked a huge area and 3 dogs come back without a bark except my male on his way back he struck 500 yards out. Moved closer to him and he was treed, walked in 400 yard shined and there sat a nice boar. The 2nd drop the 2 youngest struck not long after dropping the tailgate and lit out pretty quick, figured it was trash til the 2 older dogs piped in. Ran that track hard for 1000yds to a den. Last drop my young female and my buddies old female struck about 200 yds in, the other 2 followed but didn't say much. Ran that track about half a mile maybe more to the top of a ridge and there sat a massive boar.

Hunted my 2 dogs tonight, 4 drops, temps around 30deg. Hunted on national forest land. Dogs hunted great had 3 shorter tough tracks. All 3 ended in big den trees.

How's everybody been doin here lately? Havin much luck? Me and two buddy went out tonight. Dogs were only loose for probably ten minutes and was already treed 300 yards. What do you know, a pine. Finally found the coon and there was three more in a pine tree nearby. Little Brandy's gettin better. She's been bad about leavin the tree and not comin back. Tonight she struck the track and treed first, left it and then came back while we were at the tree. Tied her back and she was locked down on it then. Sure made me proud. Yeah she left the tree but she made huge progress when she came back and started treein hard.

Sounds like she's comin along bayemup. I haven't been in about 2 weeks between work, cold, and rain. The last night I was out had a rig strike that went 300 yards to a den and then made 2 more drops and never got a bark. Goin to hit it tonight and tomorrow, supposed to be pretty nice the next 2 nights. There's a lottery hunt coming up March 7th in millboro,va. They will have food and drinks as well as the dog box man set up selling supplies. Registration cost is $5 per dog and 10$ to draw your weight ticket. They are also planning a 50/50 for the 5th heaviest coon. Prizes will be for 1st,2nd,3rd places. Meal and vendor will be there 12pm to 630 and registration to hunt ends at 630.

Yeah she's comin along real nice. Tonight she treed again with buddys dog but wasn't treein hard. Shot the coon out, let her kill it, then hung it up and she was treein like nobody's business. Shes makin me real proud now.

That's the best part of starting young dogs, seeing the light come on. Planned on makin a couple drops tonight, instead had 2 different red hot rig strikes one went 150 yards to a den the other a half mile to a den.
