Bruce

My alpha left me dead in the water the other night. I was in roolling hills not mountains and it would not keep me going in the right direction. My compass was off and on then off again. I tried to go to my marked location but it would not swing around. If I would have not had a hunter with me with anouther garmin I would have been in trouble. There was a small airport nearby if that could have any thing to do with it. Went to update said I was up to date. Kinda has me worried I dont keep my bearings like I used to. I did recalibrate compass a couple times but would not fix my problem. Ron

I always follow my track back which I put down with the alpha on the map page. I have never been much on using the pointer on the compass page.

I assume you put a map card in? Take the card out and see what that does.

If your out in the woods hunting the streets and roads should go away because there are not many out there and be replaced with topo info. creeks and lakes.

Are you sure your not scrolled out too far? Push the "in" button several times and see if that helps your map screen look more normal!

It was a disc. Talked to garmin rep and they said when I installed the 100k it kick the 24k out and I have to buy a regional map in 24k to fix it. Guess I will have to keep it the way it is. Cant afford $129 right now.

dc 40 blue charging light ?

dc40- just blinks blue when charging and it doesn't ever go solid.
shows full battery on the info page and holds a charge for a long time..
any ideas as to why it will not switch to solid blue when a full charge is reached ?

Might try a different charger.

I disconnected the battery for awhile, put it back together and it would not turn on, I put it in the charger and turned it on but then had the solid red light. I updated it with the 320 and now it works like its suppose to. blue light goes solid when charged completely too.

.

My first thought is there is a contact problem between the charger and the collar. My first question would be do you have the round contact points on the collar which was the early model or do you have rectangle contact points on the collar?
If you have round points the plastic around the contacts can stick up a little higher than the metal contacts. Scrap of of the plastic down with a pocket knife using care not to cut yourself. Make sure the contacts are clean and the track around the contacts is clean.
You can make a small jumper out of wire and place it on the contacts to see if it actually is a contact problem. If it isn't then a trip back to Garmin might be your best bet.
Was the blue light coming on before you changed the battery? I have seen people force the small two wire wiring harness together upside down and then it won't charge. If you look at the wiring harness the prongs are offset to one side not in the center. Again if the blue light was coming on before you changed the battery check your connections again.

Got any battery draining tips? I got an alpha 100 at the end of a nites hunting I shut it of (e.g.) battery reads 80% the next mourning I turn it on check battery statues and it will read 0% or if I m lucky 30%. What could cause it to drain battery life that quick?after all I do shut it off. Any tips I would appreciate.

I would call Garmin on that one. Definitely sounds like a warranty issue.

Yes. Kevin Rainwater in Ky fixed mine.

I got a question???
I noticed that the track is not where it actually is on my map card.
For instance when my collars are on and i drive to a new location the track is 10 to 30 yards off the road. Other times when I am still in the woods and see a road that is suppose to be say 50 yards, the garmin will show I am on it or crossed it and I still haven't even reached it.
I have updated the Collars and the 220.
Any Ideas??

.

Kevin is at most of the large shows. He builds Boss lights and sells most supplies. He repairs 20-30 Garmins a day when set up as these events and he is about as good as it gets. You can call him at 606-305-1905. If you can't get him call me at my store Monday 904-692-1568 and I can give you instructions on mailing it in.

Rat dog you need to stop navigation and line will go away.

Pat there are some days my track line is off and I just chalk it up to Sat. Positioning. I would check to see if you have WASP turned on as that seems to make it more accurate.

Thanks for reply, but what is WASP?
And this is everyday for me.I thought maybe map card was inaccurate or if it made a difference if I was using true north or magnetic north?
Reasoning was I notice the inaccurracy more on north to south roads and close running east and west roads.

Patty, I believe you need to go to SYSTEM AND THEN SETTINGS or visa versa on the 220 and then it is one of the options..
