Respect

I just got to say how much I appreciate seeing these old photos. Studying pedigrees and learning different hounds goes a lot farther with pictures. THANKS!

Mo.Hammer

If I'd put on stronger glasses I might of possibly made out their faces better especially Richard Casey. HA! HA!. I'll take another shot in the dark at the fellow at the right side of the table as being Robert Welch of Ohio. CW thank's for the offer. Jim

You were right that was Phil Powell taking the picture. Just got back from Kentucky. Lot of people made it a point to say they like this post and most of the credit goes to all of you. I do enjoy the stuff that is being dug out and posted as well as what you are saying about all of this. Please continue to take a stab at the questions being brought up and trying to identify the people in the photographs.

Back to the South

What a span of years for this well known Bluetick man. Loved seeing the tributes to him by people who obviously cared about this man. Sure he wore out a few pair of hunting boots in his day.

Paragould, Arkansas 1979

This man was who most Bluetickers considered Mr. Bluetick. His contributions to our breed are difficult to impossible to calculate. By all accounts one hard hunter, people making that distinction between those people who had puppy mills versus those who really laid with it. I can attest first hand to the big pile of wore out hunting boots near the dog pens at the "Bluetick Farm Kennels." One of a long list of men I was fortunate to get to know who spent a good portion of their lives following these dogs we call Blueticks. Two others in a picture posted earlier were Hap Counts and Delma Smith.

Thanks Joe-I like the photo of you with 6 Again on your Junior site. That was Gr Nt Ch Cedar Hill Ranger with TC-good guess though! This picture was takin in the South West of a group I could use some help with. I know two of the men real well and feel sure some of you from out that way can identify the others in the photo. During the three years I lived in Texas I hunted in all the states that border it to the East and the North. Great hunters and great times. This photo is just one example.

In this picture the middle guy is Buddy Jordan. Hunted with Rivet and Toby at the Grand Reunion in Sedalia, Mo. I believe it was the first Reunion held. Not making a connection with the other fellows. Jim

Jim thanks-Buddy and Claude Smith, the big guy standing next to Buddy, I knew. If no one comes up with the other names I will look back and see if I can. Thanks again for all your comments and interest.

Lets slide back to the South East and take a look at a bunch of good old southern boys who certainly did their respective part to promote these Bluetick hounds. Unfortunately we have lost to many of these men. Good men! This was taken in Summerville, S.C.

The South Carolina Photo

Jim that was James Riley and Arthur Duncan, also in that shot are Larry Taylor, Earl Christmas, Dave Bialik and Jerry Hackworth. Everyone of them could be found at the Bluetick hunts down here in the South. Larry Taylor was the long time sec./tres. of the Zone of BBOA and as long as he was alive no one was ever even nominated to run against him.

Tom Jones-great pictures. What dog is in the kennel? Here is a dog at home on top. No serious discussion on breeding can take place without mention of the one and only.......he will not hurt your eyes either, will he?

Could someone possibly help me identify this young guy in this photo with this good looking dog. The dog's names was Bones and on the baseball cap I can read the name Parker's Blueticks. I do know an old man who still tries to coonhunt and who vaguely reminds me of the much younger man in the photo. Any help would be appreciated !

This pair certainly made their mark in recorded history on the Purina path. It has not been so long surely everyone still recognizes this duo.
