from Bold Progressive:
The NRA likes to claim that it represents gun owners. But the truth is, it represents extreme positions more likely held by gun manufacturers than America’s responsible gun-owning families.

In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, one group of responsible gun owners is taking a stand against the NRA. The Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show, in the wake of the tragic events at Sandy Hook, decided not to feature certain weapons at the event, including assault rifles.

This is their statement on their move:

As a hunting-focused event, we welcome exhibitors who wish to showcase products and firearms that serve the traditional needs of the sport. Clearly, we strongly support the 2nd Amendment. However, this year we have made the decision not to include certain products that in the current climate may attract negative attention that would distract from the strong focus on hunting and fishing at this family-oriented event and possibly disrupt the broader positive experience of our guests.

Nice spin. How is this "taking a stand" against the NRA? Looks more like they made a choice to exercise their choice of focal point of their show.
I'd bet over half the gun owners at their "sports and outdoor show" own a pistol in the caliber used in the Sandy Hook shootings. More knee jerk reaction.

The NRA has nothing to do with the show, except the WERE an exhibitor. It turns out they are not attending now either...It is not a stand against the NRA, it is a stand against a british company and the NRA is standing with us.

That will cost them money. I do support their choice but hope they lose money catering to the wrong crowd. The reverse of Chick-Fil-A

Due to refusal to reconsider....the nra has decided to withdraw from the show

I don't blame them one bit. If the nra threatened me to not show up, AT MY OWN SHOW unless I went by their guidelines, they can take a hike. You don't threaten people to get what you want, especially at your own show. Way to go nra sheeple. Everybody fall in line and march to the nra drum.

Looks to me like most vendors and sponsors pulled out of their show. Maybe they didn't like a British company coming in and telling them what the could bring to a show. Where do you see the NRA threatening them. So you don't think when most of the gun vendors pulled out the NRA should have showed up anyway? Get real!

Based on what you have posted it looks like I got this story straight. Thanks for adding details to it.

Is this a branch of the nra or not? I'll wait on my next comment.

*I waited lol. Why are you buying stuff from the 'british' to start with? American workers not good enough for you? Did the nra invite them over here to start with? Just asking.

GREAT!!! More ammo for everybody else. With thin crowds, maybe they will be cutting deals and folks won't have to pay 4x what something is worth. Heck, I'll stop by if I'm in the neighborhood.

The NRA didn't invite them.
I just got back, if you were waiting for me I went to the bathroom.OK? Yep, they are part of the NRA, don't see what that has to do with it. This post was started with a LIE this show is not run by a bunch of local business people, it is run and profits are taken by a British company. The NRA only has a booth at the show where they pay to be able to be there. Have you read any of the posts on here? All the American vendors pulled out because they couldn't bring the guns to sell they wanted to. Who is buying stuff from the British?

From the looks of things, the show was produced by a british company. From the looks of the boycotting vendors, they are AMERICAN companies. You buy from vendors, not show orginizors. Thought I'd explain since you are ignorant ( by definition: .Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular) in relation to the show and its workings.

Feel better now? You stand up for your values PAL. You don't let some china man come and tell us how it is, you don't let some Somalian come here and bring their entire village and change our American ways. I don't care where your from THIS country was founded on CHRISTIAN values. Not your homosexual values, not your value to preach the koran on the side of the road, not looking the other way why the gay couple down the road apply for a marriage license, not sitting back quietly why millions of babies are murdered.. If you don't wish to be a part of a CHRISTIAN NATION get the heck out. Winganator you allow homosexuality, same sex marriage, abortions, you show your kids that it's okay if you don't speak out against it and that my friend is cowardly. You know its wrong as well as the ones doing it. They know down deep its wrong. You didn't hear or see all the gays strutting around you 20 years ago, you didn't see millions of babies being murdered 20 years ago. Wonder why that is wingman? Well I'll tell you its because the general public KNEW IT WAS WRONG but now with millions more with your attitude say ahh its their choice. Making it seem like its okay and now look where we are.

Almost 300 vendors and speakers boycotting. It's not rocket science to see the show is a dud if they indeed do pull out. That doesn't begin to include the ones going to the show that will not go because of all the no shows.

I do stand up for my values everyday. I don't go and rob people, I don't go kissing on guys, and I don't take my hands and murder babies. Those are against MY values. If I supported it, I'D be LIVING IT.

Show me one sentence in the Constitution that says I have to follow your religion.

Show me one sentence in the Constitution that says I CAN'T preach whatever religion I believe in on the side of the road.

Show me one sentence in the Constitution that says all this goes, unless one chinaman and a somalian villiage tribe shows up then turn the USA over to them, its theirs.

Coward? Lol tell you what. You go find yourself two 6"6' 350lb gay bodybuilders and talk allllllll that smack you want to.

Do you think people became homosexuals 20 years ago? Probably do and think its the democrats fault. I could see you riding in Sodom on your camel, take a look around and say hey this looks like a great place to stay.

The only thing I ever did against abortion was not have one. So what have you done other than blindly vote for somebody who said they were gonna do something against it when they weren't going to anyway?

Maybe you should check into moving to the middle east. They hang gay people there. They chop theives hands off. I'm sure they are your kinda people, and you'll fit right in.

So your personal values don't have anything to do with who you wanted to run this country? Its obvious yalls values are not the same. You voted for him solely because of him being democrat or because of color?

Who said I voted for him?

He's married to woman, has two children, never been convicted of a felony. Why aren't our values close?
