It's been a tough, heart breaking week here, as some of you know Slew Foot has been missing since running coyotes on Friday morning. He and Doc ran for 22 hours before their garmin collars died. They were bayed up several times throughout the day and well into the early morning hours of Saturday. with each attempt to get into the bay, the yote would break and move a couple miles. I lost track of them at 4 am Saturday morning. I snowhoed in to their last location and found tracks and spots where they bayed up. but no sign of either dog. Around 2pm Doc came out where I dropped them the day before, but Slew was not with him, which is very unusual since they never separate. Hunting is tough here now with nearly 30 inches of snow in the woods, with water under that, making the search difficult even with snowshoes as I cannot walk on top. The last two nights have been bitter cold and is -28 below zero as I type. I've been out day and night and I'm exhausted but will continue to search and when it warms up some and will put dogs back in that area in hopes he will come out with them. But as it looks now, he may not be with us anymore. It's hard to speculate, but there is wolf sign in the area and dangerous beaver ponds and inland lakes that he may have fallen through. Loggers, trailgroomers, and snowmobilers are all keeping an eye out, so if he is alive, hopefully someone will find him.
