Blueticks.....

I never have hunted with many Blues, really don't know why ?
I am looking at trying one......Been hunting these Walkers about 36 years. Going to continue to have Walkers, but to be honest, getting tired of the Hot Nosed, Slick Treeing Rascals......Going to give something else a Shot...probably going to be a Bluetick.....!!!

Smiley's Blue Rambo 2- Based on one cast. He annihilated our cast and I was hunting a salty hound at the time.

Back in the 90s I hunted a lot with great blueticks out of Warren's, Ed's, Dave's, and the Utchman's kennels. That said, the best male I ever hunted with was Harry Darby's Lead hound. Best female and best hound overall was Guy Ormiston's Gr.NiteCh. Sheba. She was everything anyone would want in a hound.

Best I ever had the opportunity to hunt with or Judge was Ron Taylors Nothern Blue Levi. Judged him three times against very, very good competion and he always came out a winner by treeing coons and not trees.

I just went hunting with Dad and Rambo II one time and he flat put on a show that night. I sure wish I would have been into hunting at the time cause dad had several good ones in a 10 year stretch there.

Old Sheba was one of the very best I ever saw go.

I had a pup out of her and True Boy IV that I swapped back to those boys after Ihad him running and treeing.

Eric Saylor made him a Nt. Ch.and advertised him some.

He called him July.

Bluetick

Best one that I have seen was a grade dog 25 plus years ago. Buck was his name and coons was his game- could tree coon likes goodsqurreldog trees squirrels. Buck even made the Case Walker show with the guy that owned him at the time. Buck could tree coons that good dogs did not smell and have the meat when you got to the tree. I knew that I would own him after the first night that I hunted with Buck. I bought him and enjoyed him many nights in the woods. I would sure like to find another dog as good as Buck. He won so many hunts you would have to haul the trophies in a truck. The man that raised Buck made a pretty good living from him selling coon hides in the days of 25-30 dollar hides and he was the one that won all of those hunts with Buck. I j just enjoyed hunting a good DOG and Buck was all you could want in a dog.Spell check has misspelled Cas! Dave

Bluetick

Men I just want to clarify some things about the above post that I made. I got the years off ( getting old lol ) . I first hunted with Buck back in 1975 and bought him around 1978 closer to 40 plus years not 25 as stated above. Buck was a grade dog. and was hunted at UKC hunts asagrade dog but usually won the grade part and the high scoring dog of the entire hunt. He could put on a clinic and usually did just that. I was hunting registered dogs but nothing as good as Buck. ( Most weren't either ) I sure loved to see him now in the money hunts!. Dave

Hammer VI....

don't know if he was my favorite, but I sure did enjoy going with him. good natured and easy going. really liked Ol Patch. hunted with him at Autumn Oaks, BBCHA Round-Up , Middlesex, N.Y. and the Ohio St Ch., which he won. three different states, 3 different conditions, and treed coon in everyone of them. if you are really going to judge one, then go and hunt ALL terrain and conditions. VI was under 2 at the time. I suppose it is easy to say, he was good all the way around. some might not care for his style, but he showed the casts a coon when he treed. he won Ohio St by treeing a lay-up that the other hounds didn't even know was around. LOL!

Dual Grand Champion Adametz Little Bruiser was one of the best of any breed I hunted with in the 80s. One fast, smart dog. A pleasure to hunt every night.

GRNITECH STILLWATER FARMS BLU IMAGE , died at only 3 years old. One TOUGH hound. Deep and lonely, you could call him in from anywhere . If he could hear you he would come . He won over $2,500 in PKC in his short life . I truly believe he would have made Platinum Ch .

James Tirey

I can't remember the dogs name but James Tirey was hunting one at the superstakes that was pretty good. Popped them coons up behind the other dogs all night. That dog died a little too soon and prolly woulda went on to win all kinds of hunts. If you woulda asked me before the hunt started which dog might beat me I would have never said the blue dog. Never judge a book by its cover or color!

Good ones

I've had the pleasure of hunting with some nice ones. On a one night basis, Northern Blue Levi & Bingo put on a show. Hunted with Duel Gr. Clear River Diamond Jim, nice hound! I hunted with Jet 6 in single digit weather and saw coon also. So many good ones that it's hard to say. Hunted with Hammer XVIII, Blue River Droop and Duel Gr. Wild N Blue Mindy on the same cast at Autumn Oaks. Didn't do much good that night but Dave Dean was a hoot! I don't like yanking my own chain but I had a couple of the best blue dogs I ever saw go but then again I got to hunt with them a long time. One called Nt Ch Moore's Simpson Creek Blue back in the 70's off of Morris' Blue River Boomer and my ole Nt Ch Moore's Mountain State Bonnie out of Duel Gr Hammer XIII. I've already given up on ever haveing another like her. Sure would have liked to hunt with Hammer II and III and maybe ole Diamond Jim. Maybe in another life

Best Blue Dog

The best Bluetick that Ived hunted with was Diamond Jim. The best living bluetick that I'ved hunted with is Duane Kreklows Yodeler. If anyone is serious about improving their dogs coon treeing ability they should consider this Yodeler dog.
I hunt walkers and Yodeler can compete with the best.

Russ Downing's Kate female was a good one and tough to beat. Very independent and accurate. I also liked this Luke dog that was about as fast as they come on a good night. Luke had the running gear and passed it onto Spanky.

Gary Uchtman's Ranger 6.

He got tick disease at 2 years old.

He was a phenom, I thought.

He never got to live up to his potential.
