If you want to peddle you $hitty attitude, do it somewhere else, cause most of us are not interested. If you can't play nice, just go away.

THIS IS THE BEST THING SAID ON THIS THREAD!!!!

TWo toes

I have seen alot of his pups act the same as you descibed. I like the winding and etc. he puts in his pups, esp. the brains. (SPANKY). but where all these guys are talking bout, "once my dog had to go plum through a section to hit a track" this is what happens to me 50% of the time and it may be another half before The dog can lay one up or strike a track. Nothing bad meant about spanky, I like what he brings to the table.

Rock dog is smokey river, lil' mack and rambo and etc. close.

The way i read this thread is Roger is looking for a male to breed to that throws pups with hunting desire, that get out from under his feet.I never saw any place where he said he wanted dogs that blow through the country a mile then start hunting.
I would suggest a Uchtman's Ranger bred male because every one i've hunted with have lots of hustle, desire, and ranged out as far as they had to.Don't know enough about Smokey River Tramp,June,Curlee,or Ruby to know what they threw.

stud

I would check out what toms talking about....the dog he is hunting fits what roger is looking for to a 'T'...not saying breed to toms dog, but he demands that kind of dog for himself, and he would probably know where to look for that as well as anyone around here...

Justin, I have seen some off a.j. that wouldnt go hunting also. I promise they are not throwing anymore hunt or drive then what Roger's gyp is out of or the rattler dog. I had one myself off Blaze that was a nice lil' gyp and look good sometimes but just didnt have the drive. I have seen well over 2 dozen or so that flat blow a hole in the dar and you dont see them tell they are tree'd no matter how far and they want to be first one their.

you can get lazy dogs every now and then as far as getting yonder when spany is involved and he was a dominant reproducer. jmo

Roger, If you ever get down this way around central oklahoma I have a well bred nitech male I will show you and possibly a pup or two. 405-520-5416

I will just say this, Do NOT compare AJ to Rock, even though they were littermate brothers. AJ was not one tenth the dog Rock was, okay that was kind of harsh, but honestly he wasnt 1/4th the dog, just ask Ricky Tankersley, he owned AJ and didnt own a hair on Rock but will tell you the same thing. Also AJ was only bred a couple of times so you havnt seen too many with no hunt in them. Maybe one or two and that was probabley off the same litter. As far as Rock goes he has been bred much more than AJ but still, no more than 8 or 10 times. Thing that made Rock such a good dog is he had one thing and one thing only on his mind treeing a coon! I believe thats all he ever thinks about 24 hours a day. I think thats what is on his mind right now at 11 years old, and that is 90% of what makes a coondog, what is going through his head when you unsnap him. By the way Rock sired a litter born last week from a Heavy Uchtman bred Female in La. She had 11 pups 8 males 3 females. Also Roy Propps ( Broken Bow, Okla.)Arkie female is due anyday with pups sired by Rock.

only thing I have said about rock is that Roger should breed to him, jmo. I have hunted with 8-12 hounds off of a.j. and imo that should be enough to get a feel what a hound is throwing. your also right I believe their was 2 I seen with no hunt to them and they didnt last long. I also now for a fact that a.j. had one thing on his mind when he was cut loose.................tree a coon. seen him miss twice in probally 40 drops or so. I think you should re-read the post Kelly and then determine if I was comparing your dog to anybodies.

Kelly , both Tom and I gave props to what was said to be a good cross ... and in all the years you posted on this board you never got that brave til' AJ died and it was too late to compare them .

AJ did alot of winning and John Wilson is about as good a guy to hunt with or talk to as you will find .. so your post was pretty amped up considering you were just venting for no reason.

Most good dogs end up in good hands and get the due they got coming ... lines of dogs don't dry up for no reason and if folks bred less than 1 bitch a year to Rock , there was also a good reason , whatever it may be .

I was raised around blueticks , and I like to argue .. but gosh dang ... yall like to argue so much that you will kick your own dead dog just to brag on the one you are feeding ... effen ridiculous.

J. Smith

lol. good post and its sad but true. I talked to Ricky on the phone and was told he was sent up here because he didnt want to follow a.j. when he was young as he was to GUNG HO !! What is funny is I am pretty sure a.j. has more pups then Rock, Kelly dont have a clue. Just sitting here thinking about it, I believe I have been with over a dozen of them. MAybe they was all from the same cross though. lol

dont worry Kelly, I aint gonna go tell John your pretty much calling his dog a p.o.s.

I will say this for what its worth I will never take an opinioin from this message board and make a decision on "what type of hound I am looking for"!!! I am a walker man all the way. I do own one bluetick and he has all the tools I have looked for in a dog since I first started hunting. I demand a hard hunting, track driving style dog. I do not care much for a go yonder style dog but I had rather walk to a dog than listen to it bang and beat and finally come treed right out in front of me.

I will not ever breed to a dog for what I seen the stud itself do, but will breed for what I have seen its offspring do. Becasue if I catch a dog on an off night and it places third in a final cast at 4:00 am who am I to say this dog is not my style.

I will say this Rock at 11 will out hunt most dogs in there prime. No I had never hunted with AJ but he would get in the dark but that was to get by hisself is the reason he never stayed in texarcan.I have hunted with 3 from that cross and out of 15 trees we only had 1 tree that had 2 dogs on it. Independent and go till they tree that had brains is what that cross was about and I have not heard or seen anything off Bawls that will not get gone with or without company but I would say there is some seeing how not all pups will make it no matter what.

It shouldn't be about what dog wil get a mile deep in 5 minutes to tree a coon each time it's cast, lets talk about which dog leaves in a run and trees the most coon in that mile.

well

if you are referring to the old smokey river blue diamond jim line, there isnt much of it left up close...there are a handful of people that have him in their third or fourth generations a time or two, but the Tom Dulley dog has him four times in four generations, I think Dennis Shepherd has him, and then you have Buzz Andersons dogs...they have been linebred on the Jim dog more than any other, I believe....I have hunted with a few that came from buzz, and I sure liked them...hard going, get in the dark by themselves with big mouths...

I hunt creeks and rivers, I wont mine running as fast as they can to the first track or layin up the first coon close to the creek, he better not spend 20 mins. on that creek in that section. thats just what I like and nobody else has to.

not arguing Voyd and John, thats just what I like and the best imo for how I like to hunt
