et all...
Mike, I am not here to argue in favor of allowing every cur breed to hunt with the hounds. I do have a question for you. In 40 years of hunting, how many Loepards have you hunted with?
Jeremy, I also want you to consider what you say about "curs" as every breed of cur is most definately not the same. When you talk about them in the same breath as though they were, it is frustrating for those people that have worked very hard to establish a breed of dog (Leopards) that have been around much longer than any of the current six hound breeds today.
It is not that I want to sound snappy while this discusion is going on, that is not my intention. It's just that there are many people who think that the 1,2 or even 10 curs that they have seen in their lives represent the entire cur group. There are many different breeds of curs. For instance:
American Leopard
Kemmer
Original Mountain
Stephens
Canadian
Camus
Catahoula
Treeing
Faulkner
There are more I am sure. Of the varieties listed there is only one breed that, since it's inception, has been required to be open on track in order to be registered. That breed is the Leopards.
I have owned Loepards, Kemmers, Original Mtn. and Treeing Curs and have hunted with each of the rest of those appearing on the above list.
I would also like to say that I agree completely with those folks that pointed out that the UKC night hunt rules, as they now stand, will take care of any loose ends if they are simpley enforced.
