There are alot of factors that determine a great breeder. I think the old addage of: "The guy that splashes the most ink is the best breeder"..... is a bunch of crap. They may very well be the most popular breeder but the best.... I don't think so. If you take a look at the most succesful breeders out there in any breed they are constantly looking to better their dogs each generation. They look to get their pups in the hands of hard hunters that will be honest in their evaluation of the dog and know what they are looking at. They also look for people to pass their knowledge on too to secure the future of their line of dogs. Most don't run Timothy Ball ads saying how great their dogs are. A lot has to do with where they live.... as alot of the guys mentioned here I have never heard of..... does that make them any less of a breeder.... not at all. The only person the comes to my mind when you look at all these qualifications is Jess Kincaid. Not only does he have a line of english dogs that are heads and shoulders above what I have seen. He is willing to spend his time helping people get a dog they can be proud of. He is also working very hard to keep his line pure and improving with each breeding. Keep up the good work Jess. I know I appreciate it.

Mark Vandeventer has had alot of success with his line of blue

dogs. He always has a tough dog on the end of his leash.

Also Doug Leigh.........they have had several Gr Nt and raise a

couple litters a year.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of learning from several really good hunters. But the only person that I have delt with, that I thought truly understood what it takes to "BREED" a top quality bloodline of hounds is Jess Kincaid. I've bought pups from alot of breeders who could talk a good story. But after trying alot of pups that just didn't make the type of hound I was looking for, I realized that if the hound can't back up what the breeder says, then it's probably B.S. I know no one produces 100% of their pups that make top hounds. But I think it is the percentage of pups that turn out, that proves the quality of a breeder and their bloodline. Of the dogs I have gotten from other breeders, the ones that Jess has sent me have been by far the best quality of hounds I have found. Therefore, his hounds backed up what he told me they would do. He has also taught me more about how to breed those hounds to get the best out them, than anyone else I've been around. I am currently hunting the 4th generation of hounds I have bred, using the hounds Jess helped get me set up with. I guess that means the breeding theorys are working also.
