We had 5 inches in the last 3 days and I got rained out last night about midnight hunting Little Rooster. Up till then I had a good hunt.
Rooster treed one along a little creek and about the time I was trying to convince the coon to bail out I heard a truck pull up along the corn field, so I went out to meet him and the farmer ended up being a good ole boy.
This pup is going to be one of the goodens. Just needs time alone in the woods.

Had a good hunt last night, Doug Linn came up and we took a short run. On the way to the woods we had a litter cross not more than a quarter from the house. We turned Smoke, Slick and Doug's female Moe loose in the first ditch. Smoke struck first followed by Slick , they worked a rough track out of the timber and into the corn where things started to pick up. By the time they crossed the road they were running hard and went through two small corn fields and fell treed on the creek. The dogs had a double (both adult coons) and looked good, Doug's pup is showing a lot of interest and is just about ready to hit the woods hard.........Tim

Brian Pierson called today to tell me about his hunt last night with his young male ,Ranger, sired by John II, and another young male that he calls Astro, sired by Psyco Sid. He made 3 trees and had coon in two that he could find, he said both dogs are looking good and will be in the hunts soon......Tim

Taking a different pup each night and so far they are all looking real good. The coon are moving good and I'm getting some good corn field races going that is really helping the pups. Each one is doing a bang up job on tree and having the meat. Last night was the first night that I didn't go, we had another inch of rain.

Hows that little Joker X Mindy pup doing? Ours is raising heck with the wildlife around here....Cats...Chickens...Little coon...No fear!!!!! Been hunting Katie (Joker X Ruby) hard she has really looked GOOD lately. 4 for 4 on sat night. Good corn field runs. Going tonight for a quick one. Bugs are terrible here, but we might try to hit a hunt this weekend. Its been a while...........Jon

Paul has not messed with his pup any yet, he says that it will bark at anything that moves. Paul plans on retiring the end of August and hunting every night.

Steve,
Sounds like Zeke is doing great, keep him in the shows and you will finish him. Keep him in the woods and he will make a coondog.

Zeke is doing good ... he just needs to muscle up some, and learn how to "Hold a pose" on the bench. lol

Had Zeke out last night with Cindi ... he went off on his own seperate from Cindi 3 times, and ranged out 300+ yards ... he never struck, but he sure isnt afraid of the dark ... lol ... can't fault him for not striking a track ... Cindi only struck once, and treed, but I think it was a bad tree cause she pulled off that as we approached. Not sure where the coon were ... but they weren't where we were!

Thank goodness for my Garmin! Sure gives a guy a little peace of mind knowing where your dogs are!

We'll see what tonight brings!

It takes a lot of work to get some dogs to stand still on the bench, usually 20 to 30 min every day. Keep working him and he will finally get it......Tim

Talked to Bill Kaeneal yesterday and he was telling me about his 5 month old Turk pup going all of the way with the old dogs on a bad track. What a tree dog and such a big mouth. Both pups are doing outstanding.........Tim

Just got home from the BBOA ZONE I Hunt in Crete, Neb Smoke won BMOS and 1st place open reg on Friday (finished to NT CH with 2 2nds and a 1st) and on Sat he won BMOS again. These were the only 2 shows that he has been in. Smokes sire id John II.

I had a great time and seen a lot of old friends..........Tim
