I'm pretty excited about Uncle Buck's sister. I'm really enjoying messing with her. She's a real fire cracker. Now I just have to settle on a name... Jada picked my last pup, and that was "Tramp", so of course now she wants to name this one "Lady". Leave it to a 4 year old...

FROM ALL REPORTS, THIS LITTER OF 4 ARE SOME DANDY PUPS. UGLY BUCK IS ON THE MOVE ALL NITE LONG AROUND HERE. NORMALLY, I PEN A PUP DURING THE DAY AND CUT UM LOOSE AT NITE. HE LAYS UP ON HIS OWN DURING THE DAY AND IS OUT AND ABOUT ALL NITE. HE WAS BAYED ON SOMETHING AT 2:00 AM 75 YARDS FROM THE HOUSE LAST NITE. YOU HAVE A FEMALE, BERT SMOCK HAS A FEMALE, LARRY WELCH IN KENTUCKY HAS A FEMALE AND ME WITH OLE BUCK.THERE IS SOME OLD BLOOD FLOWIN IN THE VEINS OF THESE. YOU DON'T FIND BELL CREEK BUCK IN MANY PEDIGREES ANYMORE, AND IS KINDA WHY I NAMED MINE BUCK, HE RESEMBLES THOSE DOGS. <v>

I haven't, but I wouldn't be surprised if mine wouldn't try and tangle with a caged coon the way she attacks the hide and even a dead coon I showed her once. She's been absolutely fearless. This Spring should be a lot of fun.

I FIGURED AS MUCH AND AM NOT IN A HURRY FOR A PUP. GOT A COUPLE AROUND HERE NOW AND IF I HAVE LEARNED ANYTHING IN 30 YEARS OF MESSIN WITH THESE HOUNDS, MORE THAN ONE AT A TIME IS TO MANY. I BELIEVE THE REBEL X KATE CROSS WOULD BE ONE TO TRY FOR SURE.. ALOT OF THESE DOGS START THE WAY YOU EXPLAIN OTIS. I BELIEVE HE WILL GET OPEN MORE AS YOU HUNT HIM AND THE DIFFERENT CONDITIONS HE IS HUNTED IN. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HOUNDS AND KEEP DROPPIN THE FUR AT THE RIGHT TIMES ON OLE OTIS. <v>

HAVE TREED 47 SO FAR. HAVEN'T HUNTED AS HARD AS LAST YEAR. THAT FIRST WEEK KINDA SET ME BACK AND TOOK THE FIRE OUTA ME FOR A BIT. IT'S BEEN WARM AND THE COONS HAVEN'T BEEN MOVIN REAL GOOD. IT'S PRETTY BAD WHEN A DOG HAS TO TRAVEL **** NEAR A MILE DOWN A CREEK WITH STANDING CORN ON BOTH SIDES TO GET UNDER A COON. COLDER WEATHER AND DARK NIGHTS ARE ABOUT TO BE UPON US. THAT WILL PUT OLE RICK ON THE MOVE. HUNTIN THE THREE DOGS PICTURED BELOW.

I HEAR YA BUDDY. I WAS LOOKIN BACK AT THE THREAD FROM LAST YEARS HIDE SEASON. HAD 85 KILLED BY THE 8TH OF DEC AND OVER A HUNDRED BY CHRISTMAS. THAT FIRST WEEK THIS YEAR TOOK THE WIND OUTA MY SAILS A BIT. FIRST NITE THEY WERE LOOSE TEN MINUTES AND SPENT THE REST OF THE NIGHT DIGGIN AND CUTTIN MY LIL GYP OUT OF A TILE. THEN THE FORTH NIGHT MY GOOD YOUNG FEMALE STUCK HER HEAD IN A CONIBEAR AND WAS KILLED GRAVEYARD DEAD 10 YARDS FROM MY TRUCK. SHE HAD TREED A COON WITH MY OTHER FEMALE AND THEN THEY SPLIT LIKE 5 YARDS APART AND BOTH HAD THEIR COON. I LET HER LOOSE AND KEPT THE OTHER GYP ON THE LEAD GOIN BACK TO THE TRUCK AS I HAD SEEN A COON OUT IN THE CUT CORN. SHE DISAPPEARED, GARMIN SAID BACK TOWARDS THE TRUCK. AS I'M WALKIN DOWN THE ROAD, I CAN SEE MY TRUCK AND AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME TEN OR SO YARDS THIS WAY OF IT I CAN SEE THE RED BLINKER ON THE GARMIN COLLAR THROUGH SOME GRASS. AS I GET CLOSER IT ALL GOT SICKENING REAL QUICK. I KNOW IT HAPPENS, BUT IT SURE DON'T MAKE A GUY FEEL ANY BETTER ABOUT IT. THEN THE NEXT WEEK IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE THE COONS WERE MOVIN MUCH IN THE WARM WEATHER. FEW TO NO TRACKS AND THEY HAD TO COVER ALOT OF GROUND TO FIND A COON. THOUGHT I WAS HUNT A BUNCH OF SILENT DOGS. I HAVE ONLY HUNTED A COUPLE NITES SINCE THE NITE BEFORE THANKSGIVING UNTIL TONITE. THE OLD DOG WAS DRIVIN MY WIFE NUTS IN THE HOUSE SO I COLLARED HIM UP AND HE WENT THREE FOR 3 AND DID IT RIGHT. CAME HOME AND GRABBED TUFF AND TREED 2 FOR 2 AND EVERY SINGLE ONE HAD LAID A TRACK. THINGS ARE LOOKIN UP. KINDA DOWN ON DOGS TO HUNT ONE DEAD, ONE IN HEAT AND DIDN'T END UP TAKING ANY OUTSIDE DOGS THIS YEAR. I HATE IT WHEN A PLAN DOESN'T COME TOGETHER. ANYTIME YOU CAN GET AWAY YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME FOR A HUNT AND STAY AS LONG AS YOU LIKE. GOT A PLACE FOR YOU AND ANYONE YOU'D LIKE TO BRING. I HAVE TOLD ED AND LARRY THE SAME SO MAYBE WE CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN. I ALWAYS ENJOY OUR VISITS. IT'S 1:30 AM AND I'M HEADED BACK TO THE BRUSH CAUSE I'M SLAP OUT OF EXCUSES. <v> P.S. I LIKE AUNT BEE

TUFF WITH HIS LAST COON OF THE NITE. YOU HAVE NITES LIKE THESE WHEN THINGS GO RIGHT AND YOU GET DOWN TO NO NONSENSE COON TREEIN. BUCK AND I WENT THE NEXT NIGHT AND IT WAS AS BAD AS THIS NIGHT WAS GOOD. COONS NOT MOVIN, HALF MILE COLD TRACKS TO DENS AND 2 HUGE CEDARS, ONE SLICK AND ONE COULDN'T SEE UP IN IT. <v>

THAT'S ONE THING ABOUT THE GARMIN, IT WILL SHOW YOU THE LAST PLACE ABOVE GROUND THAT IT GOT SIGNAL BUT NOT IN THE GROUND. I GET A HALF MILE BETTER ON THE HAND HELD AND WITH THE TRUCK MOUNT AND THOSE ANTENNA'S I GET UP TO 4 MILES. <v>

I picked up Jerry's hounds 10.6 miles with the long range truck mount. Told him he was hunting posted land and the law was headed his direction. I can normally get .6 before loosing but can pick them back up off and on at a mile. The coax is broken on my truck mount and needs repaired. I'll regret it if needed and can't use it.
